Elder law can cover aspects of estate planning, retirement planning, long term care planning, medical costs, health care costs, elder financial abuse, etc. Estate planning is often summarized by the questions "Who gets my assets after I die?" and "How do I avoid the costs of probate?" There is a lot more involved in estate planning.

Our seminars are free to the public and cover topics such as Wills, Durable Power of Attorney, Living Trusts, Medi-Cal and much more! Jim is a great lawyer. He is very knowledgeable and honest. He provided me with exactly what I needed for my trust 6 years ago and has been diligent about updates as my life has changed.
Services
After working in Elder Law and Estate Planning in Florida, Mr. Ward returned to the Santa Clara Valley and opened his own law practice focusing solely on Elder Law and Estate Planning. He is also a Certified Senior Advisor, which has given him insight into many of the issues that seniors face beyond what elder law encompasses.
Our office frequently provides free estate planning seminar style workshops to the public. Mr. Ward is also available to speak to private groups about Estate Planning, Elder Law and Medi-Cal Planning. Our estate planning seminar workshops typically go for a 90-minute period with a break after the first hour.
Elder law is a term for the legal practice area that generally covers those issues that affect the growing population of aging citizens. The term was rarely used even ten years ago, so it is understandable that there is some confusion around it. Elder law can cover aspects of estate planning, retirement planning, long term care planning, medical costs, health care costs, nursing home neglect, elder financial abuse, etc.
Medi-Cal is California's name for what is known as Medicaid in most states. While Medicare is the same everywhere, Medicaid differs from state to state and California is very different than the other 49 states. Remember that Medi-Cal is a term used only in California, and researching the laws of other states will give you information that is not correct for California Medi-Cal.
Estate planning is often summarized by the questions "Who gets my assets after I die?" and "How do I avoid the costs of probate?" Estate planning, though, is really much more than that, and the primary reason for the rapid growth in probate litigation is that planning documents are not valid or are not clear.
