Services
We get in touch with nature, animal friends, and we garden. We spend lots of time outside on our 30 acre farm, Enchanted Woodlands, to explore, climb and run wild and free! Melissa began her journey in mindfulness and holistic care with an initial career in Chinese Medicine. Realizing that her passion was based on supporting young children, she embarked on creating this love-filled, holistic childcare center. She opened for business in 2013 and since then has been teaching little humans the beauty of mindfulness, the power of gratitude and the importance of appreciation for all this life has to offer.
Melissa Peck, Owner and Director of Mama Melli Childcare Center, is first and foremost a mom. She has two beautiful children that she and her husband are raising in South Austin. It is incredibly important to her that she creates an environment for her children, and all children, where they can feel loved, safe, and happy and free to play, be curious, explore and imagine.
Our Forest Program, The Butterfly Garden, offers a nature-inspired educational experience for your child. Whether you are looking for a nature preschool or forest kindergarten, you have come to the right place. Indeed, nature is a magical place for learning! We are an all-outdoor Forest Kindergarten (outdoor preschool) offering our students picnics outside, creative play in the forest, and adventures in nature every day!
We need a fun loving, song singing, tear drying, mutli-tasking, book reading, kid loving, mindful and respectful teacher! We need someone who is willing and able and completely on board to practice conscious caregiving, to allow children to imagine, explore, create and BE exactly who they are. And to celebrate that!

Mama Melli’s is a breath of fresh air. We love taking our 3 year old daughter here and feel good about doing it. Our child has blossomed and made some great friendships along the way. They do nature walks, go visit the animals and spend time exploring outdoors. I love that Mama Melli is fostering values of intention and self awareness early on. Highly recommend this childcare center!

When some one says “there is a childcare facility on a farm that has a small child to caregiver ratio, serves organic gluten free foods, has yoga under a tree with chickens, Tunebugz music class in an old farm house, and promotes loving environment- administered by an acupuncturist and mother of two,” You think- this is way too good to be true, believe me this place exists. We brought our 2.5 year old to Mama Melli about 3 months ago and we are so happy we did! This is our first experience with daycare and, for us, it is the perfect fit. From the play-based curriculum, outdoor activities, child/carer ratio, parents-day out to its RIE approach, we feel that we found a gem! We’ve learned so much from Melissa, and have come to adore her and her helpers (Miss Ana & Miss Lily). We can’t recommend this place enough!

My toddler loves it at Mama Melli’s! She gets so excited to see her friends everyday. They get lots of outdoor play time and get to go see the chickens and horses. The land that mama melli’s sits on is an ideal and magical place for small children. I’ve seen my 2 year old become much more confident with herself since starting there 4 months ago. She also has grown close to the owner, Melissa (who is the sweetest), and even lets her put her down for naps, which was the most stressful thing for me to think about when transitioning to childcare. We hold a special place in our heart for Mama Melli’s. Our son has been attending Melli’s since he was 18mo on the dot. At first we were anxious as it was his first “school” experience, but after 6+ months, we could not be happier. Our son is absolutely thriving. At 2yo he comes home happy, chattery, reflecting on the exciting things he did that day. Visiting the animals on the farm, yoga, gardening, music, adventures, getting dirty...everything you want your child to get to experience in this fast paced world we live in.

My 2 year old daughter has been attending Mama Melli’s for 4 months now, and we all LOVE it. Melissa is like a 3rd parent, always letting us know how’s she doing during the day, informing us of any issues, and giving her extra love when she needs it. The other teachers are great too, so much so that we have them babysit for us on evenings and weekends.
I love that the kids get to spend a lot of time outdoors in a farm setting, and learn through play. They also learn from each other, with all ages together. Soon after we started, she learned her numbers, colors, and ABCs, and her vocabulary

Melissa and her entire staff are absolutely phenomenal! I searched for a while to find a center that matched as close as possible to the ideals and philosophy that we have at home and this is it! Such a loving, caring, and supportive environment for my little one. We've seen amazing growth and maturity while he's been there and we can't imagine him being anywhere else! We all love Mama Melli!

My daughter attended Mama Melli’s for 7 months. She had just turned two before she started and Melissa was her first “out of home” caregiver. From the beginning my daughter loved Melli and all the activities and adventures. My daughter napped there easily (she had never napped anywhere other than her bed before) and ate all the snacks Melissa served and enjoyed having her lunch with the kids.
Everyday at Melli’s seems just magical. The porch is a place for chalk and playdoh and painting and eating. The playyard is a beautiful natural and safe place. The kids dig in dirt and splash in puddles
