As a young woman in my 20s and as a transplant in San Diego, I can speak for myself and my father confidently in saying that Coastal Auto Repair is not only reliable, but they are insanely kind and true to their word! They always take care of the problem and never try to overcharge or suggest work that isn't really needed. It's been a relief having found them and I wouldn't think to go anywhere else to have my car serviced.

I would give them 100+ stars if permitted! Our KIA was making noises in the engine that sounded like boulders clashing. I was very impressed with their quick response, their car knowledge and repair skills. The repair and diagnosis is complicated so I won't go into details but ultimately the engine needs to be replaced. Ian took the time and trouble to contact the KIA dealership on Clairemont Mesa Blvd and found out our KIA was most likely under a recall. Even after we have paid Coastal and driven off their lot, Ian continues to support us as we are trying to navigate KIA Kearney Mesa&apos

We had an emergency car situation where my son needed his car repair ASAP. Kevin, the owner gave us savvy advise, a quick temporary fix as well as estimates on long term maintenance. His prices are affordable and he didn't try to oversell anything and allowed us to come to our own decision after giving us all the options and info. Don't go anywhere else if you want someone you can rely on to be quick and trustworthy!

I love this place! Have been going there for about 3 years now with two separate vehicles. They are always very welcoming, fair, and honest. They'll tell you exactly what your vehicle needs but also what it may need in the future based on what they see during inspection, but they won't try to pressure you to fix "minor" things that aren't a risk yet.

While I was out of town for Labor Day weekend, my car broke down with no warning on a day when every mechanic in town was closed, leaving me stuck in San Diego with a car that wouldn't start. I was left to choose a local mechanic on the basis of nothing more than Google reviews. I quickly noticed, though, that Coastal Auto Repair had a perfect five-star rating with more than 130 reviews, so I decided to call them first. I found my car not working when I got back from vacation and couldn’t get it to start even when jump starting the battery. They helped me in a timely manner and only counted the exact time they spent on it. they were super efficient, nice, and professional. This is my new garage, eyes closed !

Man, Ian and his team at coastal auto are top notch. Thanks for getting me down to Mazatlan boys! I have an old Jeep w 185k and wouldn’t trust anyone else w it! First mechanic I genuinely trust and my Jeep is firing on all cylinders.
