Carol Cumes founded Willka T'ika in 1994. Carol writes, I first visited the Sacred Valley in the '80s and was so captivated by the powerful healing energy that I continued to return year after year. In 1994, I decided to purchase a barren strip of land where Willka T'ika now stands. As a longtime yoga practitioner, I wanted to create a retreat center synergizing Andean culture and cosmology with yoga philosophy and lifestyle.
Over the next two decades, I cultivated long term relationships with authentic native healers and knowledgeable local guides. Integrating their authentic expertise, I pioneered and developed our signature 'Journey to Machu Picchu' retreats and uniquely comprehensive program itineraries.

Words cannot fully express how amazing Willka T’ika is. The owners & staff were so kind and thoughtful, the food was delicious, the massages at the spa were lovely. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous and the perfect backdrop to the best week I’ve had in a long time. Definitely felt like home away from home. Urabamba is just a short mototaxi away for 3 soles and it was so much fun to explore. I will definitely be making a return trip!

What an incredible place. Wonderful staff and amenities. I stayed in a luxury room which was very spacious with nice view of the gardens and mountains. The amenities are great including spacious yoga rooms, gorgeous gardens designed after the chakras, great food (all vegetarian is served) that was always fresh from their garden, spa services kind staff and well run. Additionally many local businesses were able to sell their authentic goods including jewelry, clothing and art! We also experienced special events including personal readings, cocoa ceremony, blessings by the local healer with fire

Willka T'ika is a dream location for those visiting the sacred valley - great friendly staff, close to Urubamba which is a great town with excellent restaurants and cafes – The property has simply beautiful tranquil meditation, chakra gardens ( best in the sacred valley in my opinion) with access to some excellent climbs (salt mines/ruins). The staff is terrific and friendly and attentive. The various yoga rooms, library, mediation rooms offer ample ability to find a quiet place to read, meditate and reflect. Local programing is excellent and varied. Good internet and work-space. Had a lot of

This is probably one of the most magical and incredible places I have ever stayed. They staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, by the end of the trip they felt like extended family. Gorgeous gardens throughout the property. Amazing food. Great location - walking distance to nearby city center or a short cheap taxi ride. Wonderful and unique spa services, I tried the solar bath and it was absolutely lovely. Could not recommend this place enough and will definitely be back!

Willka T’ika is among the most memorable places I’ve ever stayed, I will definitely be coming back! The gardens alone are worth the trip, and all the rooms / yoga spaces are beautiful and inviting. I spent 5 nights here, and it was the perfect home base for all the adventures the Sacred Valley has to offer — the ideal place to come rejuvenate after a long hike or bike ride (definitely recommend solar baths!).

Willka T'ika is unimaginably beautiful, peaceful and cleansing. Walking through the gardens, partaking in the vegetarian cuisine and fellowshipping with both the owners and keepers of the space + our private group were all healing for my soul. So glad I was able to experience the Sacred Valley via this blessed retreat space. Would highly recommend.

To say the Willka Tika is a hotel does not do this magical place justice. It is an oasis for the senses. Beautiful setting, accommodations, and gardens. The food is wonderfully crafted vegetarian food that will send your taste buds to the moon (And I am a huge carnivore). But best of all is the wonderful hospitality that Terry and Tristan offer to all their guests. Truly amazing people with a vision to create a better world. Five stars is not enough to rate this sanctuary of the soul.

Willka T'ika deserves as many stars as can be seen from the Urubamba night sky... which is much more than 5! From the delicious vegetarian meals, to the breathtaking gardens, to the loving staff that make this hotel a home, there aren't enough positive things to say. If you don't already have plans to go to Peru, add the Sacred Valley to your list and stay in the best hotel around -- alone or with a group! You'll have a whole new standard for wellness and for travel by the time you leave :)
