Dr. Maurya received his undergraduate degree in biology at Georgia Tech, then went on to complete his medical training at the Medical College of Georgia. After finishing a residency in pediatrics, V spent 3 years in clinical practice as a general pediatrician, during which he experienced significant burnout.
Strength training refers to exercises in which muscles are being forced to contract in order to oppose an external force. This force can simply be gravity (as in the case of calisthenics, or body weight exercises), or an external load such as a dumbbell. Repeated contractions against an external force stimulates growth by causing microscopic tears in your muscle fibers.
While Body by V strongly endorses weight training as part of every personal training program, it is especially important for those interested in bodybuilding. Bodybuilding focuses on adding muscle mass, and weight training is indispensable for that purpose. While substantial amounts of muscle development can be achieved using body weight alone, it is difficult to maximize muscle growth without weights.
When it comes to weight loss training, Dr. Maurya focuses on sustainable nutrition backed by scientific research. It is true that exercise has an enormous positive impact on overall health, regardless of your size. But for the purposes of weight loss, training by itself is insufficient. Studies have shown that exercise alone simply does not create enough of a calorie deficit.
Weight training generally refers to exercises performed with the application of some sort of external resistance via free weights, cable stations, selectorized machines, or resistance bands. It is an important part of overall fitness for both men and women. However, weight training for women can be particularly important because the greater risk of osteoporosis, particularly after menopause.

Been a client for a year for primarily strength training and muscle growth. One of my favorite things about V's training is he takes time to explain what muscles I'm activating, why, and how it should look and feel when done properly. He is careful to correct minor errors. V has also provided limited nutritional advice, which is helpful for someone who finds it difficult to gain/lose weight. Finally, every session is different, which keeps it interesting. I would recommend V to anyone who needs an encouraging trainer and help learning a variety of exercises.

V is awesome. He is an extremely knowledgeable trainer with a medical background (which was most appealing to me), so he knows what you need and how to push you in a safe way. He listens to his client’s goals and observes their areas of development and focuses there whole building on their strengths. For example, I was getting married to wanted to be lean but strong with definition but also needed to work on flexibility. V has developed workouts for me that address all 3. As a former D1 college athlete, I haven’t had better training in my life than with V. Book a session with him ASAP!

When looking for trainers, I was a little hesitant when I saw these perfect ratings but after meeting with V, I can say the ratings are well deserved.

Excellent trainer, very knowledgeable and observant of his trainee’s form when exercising and quick to correct bad movements. Good rates, flexible schedules , definitely challenging routines. No workout is ever the same. Really improved my independent workouts. Will definitely re-up again. You will see a difference in your body.

V is an excellent trainer and I would highly recommend him to anyone. He really listens to what you want and creates great and challenging work out plans taking into account your fitness/skill level and that target the areas where you want to see improvement. I also have lots of old sports injuries that like that to flare up every now and then. V is always willing to work around whatever issues I’m having to make sure I get a great workout. I started training with V about 3 months ago and on average attend 3x30 minute sessions / week, and despite the days of being sore (Thanks V!), it has been a fantastic journey and one I look forward to continuing. I've made great progress and look forward to taking it much further in 2018.

Incredible results. In less than 4 weeks of training with V, I'm already down 12 lbs. For years I had allowed my multiple injuries limit my perceived ability to workout hard, but V has helped me break through these barriers to realize they were self-imposed false limits.

V is an incredibly smart and dedicated trainer. He pushes you to go past your limits but also has a deep understanding of where to draw the line for your personal strength, endurance, and health. He also has a lot of deep knowledge about exercise and the body, because of both his own study and practice.
After a year with him, I really felt like a much more athletic person, and saw various gains in my strength and endurance. Also, for the price, there's no better value.

Amazing trainer! I started working with V after a minor car accident. I had never been big on the gym and generally had no idea what I was doing when it came to weights but that all changed when I started working with V. V's knowledge of the human body and great attitude got me back to running. V is always on time, super responsive to calls and texts and makes sure that you get the best work out in the time period you choose. If you are not at all experienced, like I was, or alternatively if you want to continue to achieve and surpass fitness goals, go to V.

I have worked out on my own for several years and I can definitely say that training with V has been the best way for building up my strength and endurance. He is enthusiastic and professional. Our workout sessions are very productive and efficient. No time is wasted and the price-quality relationship is very good. Only after 3 weeks I could already notice the results. V pushes me to higher limits than ever before. I honestly recommend V as a very professional personal trainer. It really works, but get ready to suffer a bit as well!

I’ve been training with V for almost 2 years. He is really good with his workout sessions and he tailors them to fit your needs and your abilities. He doesn't set up the workouts as a "one size fits all approach" which is good because everyone is different. He will even demonstrate each part of the workout with you so you're able to understand! He will help you develop really good form during your workouts.

If you're looking for a trainer to challenge you, then V is your guy. After 2.5 years of essentially no real exercise due to a torn hip labrum, I was ready to get my health into shape. Along with my husband, we've been seeing V about 3 times a week for almost 3 months. My husband and I have been training with V for the last few months and we absolutely love it! We have very different fitness goals and workout styles, and V has been very accommodating. I have been training with V for almost 4 months. What makes me a unique client is that I'm a T3 paraplegic. So I'm very limited on the number of exercises I can perform adequately for strong workout. Do to V's experience as a trainer and his medical knowledge we were highly productive starting from the first session. With past trainers it has taken a few weeks to tailor a routine, but not with V. He immediately understood my limitations and optimized a routine that reflects his training style.

I signed up and pre-paid for 36 sessions with V last summer and plan to do even more. V was very flexible in his schedule and always had a well-planned out and organized routine for each of my visits. The 30 minute workouts were rigorous and thorough. I felt great, looked better and most importantly, improved my overall health thanks to V. I would highly recommend V as a private fitness instructor and plan to enroll with him again in the near future.
