It's true that worthy Italian exists outside of Boston's North End.. in this case, South End's Ink Block is home to one of the best coastal Italian restaurant!! Amazing decor and ambience, with an open kitchen concept, @barmezzana won our hearts with their delicious takes on Italian seafood dishes. For maximum enjoyment, be sure to pair with white wine

Legit one of the best meals we have ever had. Menu top down is unreal. The owner Heather is a Boss, she is the best. Brian our bartender was awesome.
Let me tell you I hate focaccia bread with a passion and theirs is the best bread I have ever had. Crudo was unreal. The Bolognese was unreal best pasta I have ever had.
Love this place, we will be back, save us a spot at the bar.

Setting is nice, serving was good.
Very limited options if vegetarian. Some fish options. Not vegan or gluten free friendly.
Shared some crudo which were tasty.
Chicken brick was a large serving and good.
Day special - pasta w small callous- was ok. Lots of pasta few scallops, high in the sodium.
We shared some dips - eggplant, artichoke and chicken - all good but surprisingly does not include any bread which you have to order separately so that the whole thing becomes quite pricey. Focaccia bread was good.
Bubbly water and regular water refills which was appreciated.

Everything was amazing and tasted incredibly fresh. Cocktails were great (I liked the mezzana spritz). For appetizers I recommend the black truffle burrata and the focaccia. For mains, my boyfriend got the lobster pasta which he really enjoyed and I got the gnocchi. I appreciate the perfect portion sizes and the meal doesn't leave you feeling bad.

Delicious seafood, pasta and wine! I'm a picky eater especially when it comes to seafood and this place hit the spot for me. Myself and 3 friends really enjoyed the crudo: yellowtail (the best), striped bass and shima aji as well as the truffle burrata (to die for) and anchovies on toast (delicious!!).
For my main I got the lobster pasta. It's on the expensive side but done very well. I also tried my friend's grilled tuna which was really good and had a good portion. The sides were my favorite: the potatoes, spinach and green salad were perfect accompaniments.
If willing to buy

Bar Mezzana is an amazing Italian spot with plentiful indoor and outdoor dining seating options. While they have a smaller menu, each item looks so tantalizing and makes it hard to just pick one thing. It's a gorgeous, modern, and upscale dining spot with great ambiance, fantastic customer service, and lively music and energy. I got their octopus and spaghetti (cacio e pepe) and I'm only sad to say that I couldn't order and eat my way through their whole menu in one sitting. I absolutely look forward to visiting this spot again for another perfect experience.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Bar Mezzana! The outdoor patio is so cute and the food was delicious. The yellowtail crudo with grapefruit was amazing. Our favorite was the grilled octopus- great flavor and texture- really well done. We also had the black truffle burrata, corn salad and focaccia with a delicious eggplant dip! I could have just had the eggplant dip for dinner! Our serving had wonderful recommendations especially with the wine list.
Only reasons for not giving it 5 stars are the focaccia was not great- tasted a little stale and the aperol spritz was flat. Other than those small

Bar Mezzana is one incredible dining experience in the south end. The menu is small but not too small, and they back it up with some delicious food. Seriously, you can't order the wrong thing when you come here. They also change up their menu which I like so you get to try new delicious concoctions. We started with the Tuna crudo, the focaccia with the eggplant dip, and the soft shell crab. They were all delicious and would easily order it all again!
For entrees, I got the bolognese and my friends got the gnocchi and chicken under a brick. Everything was super delicious and excellent portions

Probably our favorite restaurant in Boston! We've been here several times now, and their service and food have not failed us! We've only come during covid and always sit outside- the patio area is really nice with good spacing between tables. The wait staff always wear their masks properly and are super friendly. Cocktails are great. We always always get the octopus here because it's probably the best and most consistent octopus we've had- always crispy on the outside and tender, not chewy, on the inside. Never fishy. I'm so impressed they get it right every time (we&apos

What a wonderful restaurant!!! I had Easter brunch here with two others and we all really enjoyed our meal. The staff was so friendly and attentive, and the restaurants whole atmosphere felt very nice and welcoming. Dining here also felt safe as all tables were socially distanced and there were glass dividers between tables. The food was also delicious and it was overall a really good experience!

Visited Boston with my family for my birthday and I couldn't have started our trip any better than a nice dinner out to Bar Mezzana. Staff is very friendly, and informative about the neighborhood and certain dishes. Made reservations and they kindly sat us in the private room. Although it was a little too dark for our liking and it was hard to get a server (we were in the back and it was very busy, I'll give them that) the ambience was still very intimate.
The food was amazing. Although on the pricier side Bar Mezzana doesn't hold back on excellent quality! Next time I come to boston
