Meditation Bar opened in the Fall of 2015 after it's founders, Cathy Bonner, Lauren Foreman, Joene Grissom, and Leslie Strickler, had all experienced the many positive effects of meditation in their own lives. Cathy Bonner says "We started Meditation Bar because we believe meditation is for everyone who needs it and we believe everyone needs it."
Josh Walpole entered Meditation Bar as a student, where he developed a consistent mindfulness practice, and "transformed his life." Josh soon trained to lead meditation himself and taught classes and managed the studio before taking over as owner/operator in 2018. He committed to carry on the vision of the Meditation Bar's founders, and to continued to share the gifts given to him with his family, friends, and his community.

Have you ever felt trapped in your thoughts?
I was drowning with negative thoughts and emotions. I couldn't make sense of how I was feeling and what I was going through, so I meditated at home and scheduled a few sessions with a counselor. Those things helped a little, but they weren't enough. One day, I was driving on Koenig Lane and saw the Austin Meditation sign so I scheduled an appointment and that night I became a member.
In the beginning, I walked into the meditation center crying. Won and Lia didn't judge me, instead, they listened every time and were very supportive. I

I came to meditation bar for some assistance in meditation because I have a hard time focusing on meditating on my own. I was a bit nervous as the class I attended was 30 minutes. Tracy's voice was very soothing. The class exceeded my expectations and it definitely didn't feel like 30 minutes. I believe that is how it should be. I left Meditation bar relaxed and with the ability to handle my tasks for the day with ease. I will be coming back.

Wow! Just walking into the studio is amazing, it’s absolutely beautiful. The owner Josh, is friendly and welcoming.
I attended the Sound class by Tracy King. She is brilliant and very talented. I walked out of my session feeling grounded and with more confidence. If you have any doughts about meditation, this is your spot!
This place radiates positive vibes.

The Meditation Bar is fantastic. It is like going to the gym for your mind. Krista is an absolutely wonderful instructor and so very skilled and caring. There was a power outage during one of the group sessions she was conducting over the weekend and handled it so perfectly.
The space is very tastefully decorated and the group sessions are really well sized. The provide all sorts of pillows, chairs, etc. The classes are generally 30 minutes long, which seemed like a long time to try and mediate but the time goes by so quickly and my mind is rested and I feel refreshed when I leave.

I love Meditation Bar! It is small and intimate with a relaxing atmosphere. They offer a variety of meditation styles so you can experiment or pick and choose what you are in the mood for. Try classes that use iRest, aromatherapy, or the meditation bowls. Plus, lots of props to make your experience a comfortable one. Male and female teachers also an unusual plus. Until recently, they offered a variety of times from which to choose classes including evenings and weekends. But evening classes might return eventually. Many (maybe all) of the instructors, though skilled, are continuously training

Kate was my instructor in a fundamentals class. What a fabulous experience!! It's been since college that I did any meditation, Kate reminded me in class that we do it all the time on some level...you need to have her explain it. I felt such a peaceful vibe when I walked in the door. You just gotta go get some of that.
Dan Miguel sent me places I haven't been to in years with his sound "experience" that was after my class.
Lauren Foreman made me feel like one of the gang, I fear yoga classes because...well, you know...that doesn't happen.
Such a great way to detox from

I visited the Meditation Bar while I was in town for a work trip. My meditation bar experience was incredibly relaxing and educational. Everything from the friendly greeting to the beautiful lighting in the meditation room was perfectly enjoyable. I highly recommend you experience it for yourself. I can't wait to visit again!

I recently discovered the Meditation Bar, and I am so much better for it. I have only dabbled in meditation, maxing out after 5-10 minutes, but I am able to meditate for the entire class with the wonderful teacher's guidance. I have only taken classes from Krista, and she is wonderful. I have gone three days in a row, and I just bought an unlimited pass for the rest of January.
Even if you've never meditated before, I would highly recommend any of their classes. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. The singing bowls set this class apart from any other guided meditation I have ever

I visited the Meditation Bar for the first time today and had an excellent experience. Their attention to detail was obvious and the focus was on the comfort of every person who entered. The space is calming; as soon as you step through the doors your awareness of the outside world is lessened. The meditation room is spacious and lit with a lighting system that allows for changes in the brightness and color of the lights. There are floor chairs, regular chairs, a couple of couches and stacks of soft pillows for you to use. If the room is too cool, they offer shawls for you to use while you meditate

Meditation is for everyone.
I believe this to be true -- and I congratulate the Meditation Bar for creating a wonderful place for this. I've been exploring meditation for a while now, at home, on my own... but, what I really wanted was a place to go to meditate with others -- somewhere comfortable and inviting, welcoming to everyone.
The Meditation Bar is just that.
What's particularly cool is... you don't have to know anything about "how to meditate" to experience what they have to offer. Truth is, it's very simple -- just some quiet time, following a guided

A friend one shared this Zen proverb:
"You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day -- unless you're too busy. Then you should sit for an hour."
While it's a humorous, it's also true. The clarity and warmth and openness one feels going inside and meditating amidst the chaos of life is amazing. But sometimes, there isn't enough time, or so we think. Enter The Meditation Bar.
I stopped by today for my first visit. The location is fairly new, but in an easily accessible part of town (Northwest Hills). I was greeted by Lauren and signed in, just like the

This was my very first time meditating. Well, except for that time I meditated with my Wii game. In that game, I couldn't last more than a couple of minutes without extinguishing the flame on the candle, so I had hopes that I'd perform much better in real life. I had no idea what to expect, and came in with a very open mind. Lauren (one of the owners) held a session just for me, as the business just opened up and I was lucky enough to have this amazing one-on-one session for what is called Happy-Hour meditation. Lauren took me on an amazing journey, exploring different levels of energy
