If you have questions about physical therapy in general, or Capitol Physical Therapy's approach in particular, you're not alone. Do I need a referral from my doctor before booking an appointment with a physical therapist?. In most cases, no. The District of Columbia is direct access, which means you can see a physical therapist without a doctor's referral.
Most health insurance companies will reimburse you for it as well. The only exception is if you're on Medicare. The answer to this question depends on your issues and your goals. In general, however, you'll see your physical therapist more at first, and less as time goes on. In general, no.

What makes you stay with a health care provider? Proximity is one reason, affordability is another. The primary reason you stay with a health care provider is because you feel a connection. A connection that lets you know that you can trust them to make the right decision for you. With us, you will feel that the we understand what your body has been trying to tell you and that we explain it to you in a language that is familiar.
Your gait is your pattern of walking. It's how your limbs move to coordinate the rest of your body to propel you forward. Gait training is the process of teaching you how to walk effectively. There are a number of different conditions that can cause difficulties with walking. Certain injuries, illnesses, and congenital conditions can cause you to need gait training.
And if you work in an office environment, you may not consider the possibility of work related injuries the same way someone in a more dangerous environment such as a factory or construction site might. The fact is, however, all workplaces have their risks. On a construction site you may be acutely aware of factors such as heavy equipment, tripping hazards, or the need for protective equipment such as steel toe boots and hard hats.
For many people, the only time they need any sort of gait training is when they're babies first learning to walk. However, there are a number of different conditions that can cause difficulties with walking. If you've encountered some issues with your gait, book an appointment to find out how your new gait affects your body.
While there are a number of different symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease, perhaps the most well-known is the difficulties with motor control. This can cause difficulty with a variety of physical activities, and in extreme cases can make even the simple activities of everyday living impossible to accomplish without assistance.

I have repeatedly tried to post this review under my name, KAREN GREENAWAY, and am not savvy enough to figure out how to do it. This is my husband's name and photo!
Regardless, last spring I had the good fortune of an appointment with VALERIE RUCKER as a follow up to a recent, mild stroke. The issue was dizziness. Well, in ONE visit, Valerie put me through different painless exercises, told me how to deal with the dizziness when it occurred, and I have been TOTALLY FINE EVERY SINCE. NO MORE DIZZINESS.
The entire experience was professional, easy to make my appointment and the location was perfect

Valerie saw immediately that my vertigo was caused by bad posture and gave me several exercises. I do them several times a day because they are easy and they make me feel better right away.
Valerie knew how to make me feel calm and confident. I would return to her whenever I might need physical therapy. I recommend her highly.

As an ultra endurance athlete I was used to enduring pain and suffering. I was also used to doctors and physical therapists not quite listening to or understanding my needs. Then I was fortunate enough to meet Subha Nagasubramanian @ Capitol Physical Therapy. Subha always listened to me and understood that I knew my own body and sports fitness goals better than anyone else. Subha worked with me to diagnose longtime ailments, breakdown and rebuild poor mechanics, and develop more efficient patterns of motion. Subha took the time to answer questions and explain concepts so that I fully understood

Subha is amazing - and I have a history of being in and out of PT due to some temporary, and now permanent back injuries. As such, I know what physical therapists are good and what ones need improvement. Subha gets five stars for her ability to identify issues that took other PT's months to find, and her ability to not just give me exercises, but clean my back out so I can stand properly. She's extremely knowledgeable and listens to you. She gives good exercises but focuses my appointments on manually manipulating my back so that I can improve on my own. Definitely recommend!

Subha is attentive and knowledgeable. She has helped me with numerous conditions. Each time I hurt myself, she gets me back on track. First it was a low back injury. She did manipulations, dry needling, and exercise therapy. A year later, I had wrist pain and she cured me of that. Now, another year later, she is treating me for upper back pain. I am convinced she will have me good as new in a few weeks. She is an outstanding therapist.

Subha is excellent!! I've gone to her for multiple different injuries and she's provided a quick yet thorough assessment and at-home strengthening exercises. She continues to keep my mind at ease and recognizes my fitness goals. I've kept up with doing her suggested hip and butt strength exercises and they've been great at helping me prevent injury and tone my muscles too! She answers emails extremely quickly if you ever have a concern or question that arises. Highly recommend!

I have been to physical therapy several times and this was by far the best experience I have had. The staff is friendly and helpful. Making an appointment was quick and easy. And my therapist Valerie is the absolute best. She listened to my concerns, she explained things very clearly and positively supported my progress. Valerie made sure I understood the plan and what to do on my own. And by the end of treatment sessions, my goals had been achieved. Thank you Valerie and Capitol Physical Therapy.

I found Capitol Physical Therapy through my health insurance and could not be more pleased. Subha provides one-on-one service with easy-to-follow advice and directions. I could tell right away she knows her material and enjoys her practice. Every injury is different, but after just one session, I felt immediate relief of shoulder pain of several months. After a month of weekly visits, I feel like I am on the path to healing, and I have a good understanding of how to stay that way. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone in need of friendly, but thorough and comprehensive physical therapy

I've seen a lot of physical therapists in a lot of cities while recovering from two tedious illnesses, but I've never trusted one more than I trust Subha Nagasubramanian. She is motivating and calming at once; has excellent technique; conveys high expectations for a person's recovery; and is smart and interesting as a person, so that the time spent being treated isn't tedious in the least. Although the word "wholistic" gets thrown about so much that I guess it's mostly meaningless now, it's a word that often comes to mind when I'm being treated by her
