I have been going to Eye Carumba for over 10 years. I have bought several pairs of glasses, had annual eye exams and multiple adjustments to my glasses. In every visit the service has been excellent on every level. The staff is cheerful, extremely knowledgeable and work with you to make everything work; my vision has problems, which they have always been able to solve.

Dr. Torres established Eye Carumba Optometry in 2004 specifically to provide high quality optometric services to the residents and employees of San Francisco's financial district. The driving force behind this venture has been Dr. Torres' commitment to ensure that patients receive high level, individual attention that allows our patients to fully participate in their optometric health care.
For routine eye exams (wellness care) and primary eyecare (treatment of medical conditions of the eye) Eye Carumba Optometry is an in-network provider for Vision Service Plan (VSP) and the Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO insurance plans. The Eye Carumba staff will gladly assist patients in determining current eligibility by contacting VSP, Blue Shield, and Blue Cross directly.
Eye Carumba Optometry can order most soft or hard contact lenses available in the United States with a valid prescription. Dr. Torres and Dr. Yeh are expert RGP lens fitters with specialized training in hybrid contact lenses. At Eye Carumba Optometry, all new contact lens wearers are trained by our doctors to assure maximum probability of success.
Parking Garage Location: There is a parking garage beneath each of the four Embarcadero Center towers. The garage for Four Embarcadero is on Clay Street, where it dead-ends heading east. If you're on a cobblestone drive, you're in the right place. We are located at the corner of Drumm and Clay Streets, in the Financial District, in the Embarcadero Center Four building.

I have been a patient of Dr. Torres for over 20 years. Of all the doctors I have seen in my life, he is by far my absolute favorite. I look forward to my eye exams. He is kind, knowledgeable, careful, and thorough. My teen had been told for years that she has better than 20/20 vision, yet struggled with reading and said her eyes would “blur out.” Dr. Torres knew exactly what test to administer and was able to diagnose and fix the problem. The entire team and staff at Eye Carumba are a delight.

Thank heavens for Dr. Torres. I have come here for years even though I belong to Kaiser. Dr. Torres expertly prescribed both eyeglasses and contacts where other optometrists (several) could not. I see absolutely clearly and am SO VERY grateful!
I would also like to commend Optician Josh, the very first optician who actually gave me some guidance in what to look for in frames and fit them to my face perfectly. He was efficient, professional and a delightful person as well. What an asset to the practice!

Super convenient and great staff! My previous optometrist left during the pandemic to be closer to her home and I was so sad because I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her. I was then placed with Dr. Joe Torres and again felt incredibly comfortable. They are all very friendly, knowledgeable and answer any and all questions!

This place is great! I was really unsure of going in during a pandemic but since my only glasses broke, I had no choice.
I have no regrets! I am incredibly happy with my choice. Dr. Alex is very friendly and attentive. The office is constantly being cleaned throughout the day and they make you feel very comfortable. The entire staff is amazing. I had such an incredible experience :) Thank you!

I have been going to Eye Carumba Optometry for quite a while now because of Dr. Joseph Torres. I must say that every appointment is a pleasant experience because he is very Knowledgeable about his craft and really professional but at the same time, very friendly and easy to talk to. The staff are incredibly nice as well especially Trevor who helps out happily with all of his suggestions and makes it incredibly easy for me to decide on what frames or color of lens to choose ( mind you it’s not easy because they have a lot of collections to choose from).

Dr. Torres is he best! He genuinely cares about his patients' eye health. He listens carefully and answers questions thoughtfully. The staff are also the best! They make sure that before you walk out the door with new glasses that they meet your expectations for fit and welcome you back for an adjustment if necessary. Love Eye Carumba Optometry! I’ve been going here for many, many years and everyone is wonderful from the doctors to the front desk staff. I am really particular about my eye care and was recommended to this place from a coworker. If you are looking for a new optometrist, definitely try this place out. I used to see Dr. Yeh but now I see Dr. Pham — both are terrific. Dr. Pham is really knowledgeable and we had a fun time chatting about my vision and he helped educate me on what is going on. I can’t see myself going to any other optometrist!

I always recommend Eye Carumba because the staff are amazing, make you feel very valued and the services are professional and quality. I would visit 1-2 times per year and my optometrist always remembered me and treated me like a human not just a patient. They are also quick and convenient- set me up to mail me my contacts since I moved a little further away from their office. Very kind and professional, talented people.

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Torres. I come to Eye Carumba for all of my eye care needs: examinations to glasses. I came for an eye exam during the pandemic -- during their convenient Saturday hours. The office was equipped with protection and procedures were safe. Our family has been seeing Dr. Torres for many years now. He is beyond professional, knowledgeable and up-to-date with the latest technologies in testing and maintaining optimal eye health, he is well respected and connected in the medical community when referrals are necessary for more serious opthomological problems like I had.
We all look forward to our annual appointments with Dr. Torres because he is also just wonderfully kind and funny. We enjoy being in his company. This is a great practice we highly recommended!
