The Balsam Motel is a small independently owned and operated lodging dedicated to making your trip to Lake George and the Southern Adirondacks a pleasurable and memorable experience. We are located just 2 blocks north of the center of Lake George Village. We have a quiet secluded wooded setting and offer housekeeping cottages and motel rooms.
There are picnic tables, grills, a pool and a small public beach just a few hundred feet from the back of our property. Restaurants, gift shops, a grocery store and all the other Lake George amenities are only a short walk. Dogs are welcome and we take extra steps to insure that you and your pet have a safe and relaxing stay.

Services
Our cottages are rustic in character which gives them a true Adirondack feel. Each of the 5 housekeeping cottages are fully appointed with the same amenities as our motel rooms, but include fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes. The cottages are housekeeping cottages and you are the housekeeper! Cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaners, ect.
Our newly renovated private pool is in the sunshine all day long. We have lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas for you to sit in the shade poolside if you choose. The pool is open from 10AM to 9PM weather permitting. Pool towels are provided. Down the back side of our property and a short walk is a small public beach on Lake George.

The owners are so sweet. Very clean and well-kept Adirondack style cabins. Great parking. Right at the beginning of the main strip so you can walk to shops or restaurants. Very close to the water. Our cabin had a view of the lake. I will absolutely book here again if we’re able to come next year. Highly recommend, especially for couples and families!

The Balsam motel and cottages is an amazing place to stay! It's small, quiet and pet friendly. There is a small motel with 8 units (I believe it's 8) and a bunch of single/double cottages.
It's clean! We brought our own disinfectant wipes with us (due to covid-19) and wiped everything down upon arrival. The wipes looked completely clean after using them, not a bit of dirt or dust.
There's access to the lake as well as a pool (which is maintained well).
The owners are extremely nice and go out of their way throughout the day to check in with you and see if you have any questions/concerns/needs

Super cozy and friendly. Very personable hosts who are always around. Pool is beautiful. Beach access is tiny and not dog friendly. My cabin was very clean and comfortable. A/C was strong. TV's are tiny but we don't come here to watch TV. They provide all sorts of stuff in the kitchen to make things easy for travelers. Thanks guys!!!

I just returned home from my second stay at the balsam. I've been visiting lake George my whole life, and this is now my go-to hotel.
The balsam is everything that makes a lake George great. Everything about it is just right- The location, the rustic look and feel of the rooms, and especially the owners who run the place. They make it feel like it's more of a bed and breakfast than it is a hotel. Not to mention the fact that it's pet friendly!

Art and I have been coming here for nine years and love this place! It is peaceful and spotlessly clean. We were very fond of the previous owners. Gary and Susan have now taken the reins and have made a few changes, all positive ones! From the moment we arrived we have felt welcome and we think they are great! We love our cabin which has a lovely deck. We look forward to many more visits in the future. Thanks to this hard working couple we are sure that the Balsam Motel will continue to be a great place to stay!

New owners but still 5 stars!! Gary and Suzy are just as attentive as George and Suzanne were. Stay here, you will not be disappointed!! The rooms are so clean and immaculate. I'm leaving here in a day after 6 nights here and wish I could stay longer. Gary and Suzy never stop working. They are either out and about making sure the guests (and dogs) are happy or just making improvements to the grounds. It is right on the strip (Canada St.) yet quiet and quaint as if you were at a campground. I've been to so many hotels over the years coming to Lake George but I will only stay here. They

Excellent cottages!!! Pet friendly, and very, very clean! The nicest couple owns this place too! There is lake access right down the road. There are multiple cottages all of differing sizes and definitely well priced! The couple that owns the place was so generous to us and we are definitely going back! 100% recommend !!! We have been coming here last 6 years and enjoyed every year. George and Suzanne were great owners. Under new ownership and not disappointed!!! New Owners are Wonderful!
