MER was born in 1964, indirectly the result of the largest earthquake ever recorded in Alaska, 9.2 on the Richter scale. Ivan Fox, our Founder, was at the time in charge of Alaska Salmon production for New England Fish Co. After the earthquake and the resulting Tsunami, much of the fleet and processing capacity was severely damaged.
Ivan Fox, born 1918, founded this company of men and women in the spring of 1964. That spring, a devastating tsunami ravaged the southern coasts of Alaska, laying waste to whole harbors of boats. A fisherman and then a fleet manager in the Alaskan fishing industry, Ivan saw the devastation first hand.

High Efficiency - Standard on each genset are heavy Duty windings engineered for 80 deg.
The continuous duty rating, 80° rise over ambient and above 90% efficiency translates into running cooler, saving fuel and lasting longer. Matched with a Kubota Diesel US EPA Tier 3 marine label engine 2.4 liter, natural aspiration with an electronic control unit for fuel governing and voltage droop protection that keeps up when you put a load on it.

My customer purchased a vessel with a never installed Kubota hydraulic power plant that had been sitting for about 10 years. After install it would not start-No fuel was going through the injector pump. After several attempts to correct the problem, I reached out to MER. Moe in the service department took my call and went above and beyond to help diagnose the problem by phone since the vessel was in Portland and could't be brought in. I could not have asked for more. Moe took on the problem with me and offered expert advice that gave me the information to fix the issue and get my customer up and

Tyler and John were absolutely the best for support. With there excellent support and hand holding we able to do our Coupling/Clutch/Hydraulic Pump repair in house. They saved the vessel several thousands dollars in contractor work because of their sincere interest to help and prompt answers to our questions. They deserve 6 stars! Let just hope they don't have so much success that they get bought out by some multinational corporation and we lose their personal touch.

These guys are great! My RV diesel generator was chugging, smoking and would hardly run. I had already been to a couple other places and spent a fair amount of money, but no one could figure it out. Stopped by this place and had Erik take a look. We discussed some options, made some decisions and moved forward with a plan of attack. Within a very short period of time, my generator was purring like a kitten again! These guys are easy to work with, very knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
