Services
Kurt Spohn started Action Auto in 1975 after learning the auto repair business from both his father and grandfather, who also owned repair shops in south Minneapolis. We started as a small two bay shop and in 2002, expanded our building to almost three times its original size. Today, the shop is run by Kurt and his two sons, Jon and Clint.
At Action Auto we can service all makes and models, including hybrids! Whether you need an oil change, or have a problem with your brakes, exhaust, suspension, tires, engine, transmission, or anything else on your vehicle, we can get it fixed and get you back on the road! If you need a loaner car, just ask.
Here at Action Auto our goal is to provide honest and high quality full auto repair services. We do that by hiring only highly skilled and hard working technicians, who are friendly and principled. We have a first-class facility with the most up-to-date equipment and diagnostic tools. We have a friendly work environment and treat our employees and customers like family.

I bring all my cars here. They're often busy, but it's worth it. I recently had a repair done here before a road trip, but then the part failed shortly after the repair. This place found a way to squeeze my car in and get the part replaced again before I had to leave for my trip. This shop seems honest and trustworthy, and they've proven they're fair and value their loyal customers.

This place is great. I drove here from Chicago and when I got here realized the grinding noise I had been ignoring was way worse and that the car needed urgent repair before I could drive home. These folks were polite and professional, communicated very well, offered a very reasonable price, and provided fast service. Highly recommended.

I should have written this weeks ago! We are trying to utilize and support all of the wonderful local businesses Minneapolis has to offer. Action Auto Systems is no exception. Our car was in for a batter change, we decided it was time for new tires as well. Action called within hours with a quote for both as well as recommending breaks and rotors (which we new was coming). The quote was incredible and what we assumed we would be paying for the tires and battery alone! We had our car back in 36 hours (and were offered a loaner!)

Have only been once and had a great experience. They seemed really booked, but they got us in for an oil change that also turned into a mouse nest removal behind our cabin filter. So thankful that they found that. They knew we were leaving on a roadtrip and were (rightfully) concerned about our tires. They gave us a quote on all 4 with installation which was right on par with the best prices in town on really good tires, so did that too. Only took a couple days and let us use a courtesy loaner car. Excited to go back!

I needed a new place to take my car in and this place was recommended to me. They are the BEST!! They fixed my AC and some oil problems I was having and did it very quickly. They were very trustworthy and honest with me when explaining about what was wrong with my car. I will come here for years and will keep telling everyone I know to also bring their cars here! You will not be disappointed! Great place!

I can’t say enough good things about Action Auto. They are always friendly, patient, accommodating and are never judgmental. They are transparent about when issues are safety versus nice-to-have. They are way more up-to-date with their technology than any local shops that I know of. You can schedule appointments online and they send email… reminders (that you can, of course, opt out of) that I find extremely helpful and not at all annoying. On top of all of that, all work that I have ever received outside of regular oil changes have ended up costing LESS than their original quote.

I've always been hesitant to have people I do not know work on my vehicles. When I first met the youngest of the family and felt how genuine they were, I knew that they followed in their grandfather's footsteps. I have used their services only a couple of times, in the recent years, but have always been greeted as family amongst them. If you want… genuine, concerned, honest, non-greedy, diplomatic mechanics, with a heavy dose of -- down-to-earth, then I'd suggest you look no further. If however you want people to lie to you, overcharge you for work you did not agree to, or oversell jobs
