Originally from Vancouver Washington, Dr. Wiitala received his bachelor's degree in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University. There he was a standout scholar athlete playing 4 years of collegiate baseball. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 1999 from Indiana University and has been creating beautiful healthy smiles ever since.
Cosmetic dentistry is a safe and cost-effective way that patients can get the bright and beautiful smile they've always wanted. Although there are multiple ways to accomplish this, patients may achieve desired results at their own pace. These methods by which Eric Wiitala DDS can provide patients with a healthy smile include, but are not limited to bonding, braces, crowns, Invisalign, porcelain white fillings, teeth whitening, and veneers.
Porcelain crowns are used to return strength to a heavily damaged tooth that is in danger of needing extraction. The crown covers the entire visible portion of the tooth, returning strength and function. Crowns can also be used as a cosmetic improvement to change a tooth that is misshapen and the like.
Veneers (or lumineers) are thin shells of porcelain that fit over the front of teeth. The dentists at our Scottsdale location work to restore a youthful smile by improving the color and straightening misaligned teeth. All veneers are completely custom, and with the help of Eric Wiitala DDS, you get to pick the size, shape, and color that works best for you.

I lost part of a filling and had a sharp spot and called to see if Dr. Wittala could take a look. They were able to see me within a few days and it turned out not as bad as I thought. Sharp area smoothed out and I was on my way. Dr. Wittala is the best and his staff are all friendly and professional.

I have to update my review here...I recently had some tooth pain and Alyse and Dr Wiitila were with me every step of the way even though it was unwarranted on their side. They checked in on me and went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. They really cared and did everything they could to ensure I was feeling better. The kindest, gentlest dentist you will find!
The staff are wonderful. Very detailed and communicative about each procedure. And the front office is so transparent about insurance details, how much is owed upfront. I’d recommend him and his team to anyone!

I've been a patient for 10 months and every visit has been a very positive experience. Front office is probably the most pleasant you're going to find anywhere and thorough in ensuring dental coverage is maximized. The hygienist and Dr Wiitala are both very friendly and mindful of your comfort. The doctor will not try to up-sell you on care options, while providing accurate descriptions of the benefits and draw backs of each option.

Dr. Wiitala and staff are all amazing! I had a fantastic cleaning by the hygienist. She was very calm and attentive to detail. Was not pushing anything extra. Asked lots of question and took pictures to show and explain.
Dr. Wiitala is always a pleasure to see and talk with. He never pushes work that should not be done nor does he over charge. I know this as I used to work in the dental field for over ten years. Ive recommended several people to Dr. Wiitala and will continue to. In my mind he is one of the best general dentists in Scottsdale, hands down.

I'm from Iowa, and was looking for an honest, friendly dentist. I noticed a ton of dentists out here in AZ are pushy and recommend treatment plans that you don't need. I don't feel that way about Dr. Wiitala though! He is so trustworthy, thorough, and truly knows what he is doing!

The receptionist was super cold not only with her phone greeting but in person, and she never answers the phone. The tools they use for taking Xrays (the ones that go in your mouth) are super old and corroded, and my teeth were nearly knocked out when the hygienist yanked the cord when she almost tripped while the tools were still in my mouth. I was then told that all my teeth were going to fall out and I had advanced gum disease, and that I needed extra cleanings (of course insurance won't cover it). Which was a surprise because I saw my previous dentist quite regularly. I left the office

I've been going to Dr. Wiitala for several years. Always excellent, prompt service and if you have an appointment, they're always on time and don't leave you waiting in the lobby. Very knowledgeable dentist with an excellent support staff. The relaxed but businesslike atmosphere removes any concerns about "visiting the dentist". I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for excellent service and a caring staff.

I started going to this office in 2005 when it was run by Dr Almy, mostly because it was close to home and work. Dr Wiitala took over a couple years later and I am still fiercely loyal. A good friend of mine is also a dentist, but Wiitala will always get my business as long as I live here. Even after I lived elsewhere for two years, Dr Wiitala remembered me and even said that he'd wondered why he hadn't seen me recently.

Going to the dentist is not something I would think about "rating".... however, Dr. Wiitala and his Staff are really remarkable! Andrea is gentle and explains everything as she goes. Eric is gentle too and puts up with me whining and wiggling.... everyone makes me feel very welcome.
I went to my last dentist for over 30 years before I switched and I'm sure I'll be seeing Dr Wiitala for the next 30!! Peace of mind is having an awesome dentist!!

Dr. Wiitala is genuinely one of the best dentists I've ever visited. His (and his staff's) caring attitude for patients really shines through. From the time I walked into Dr. Wiitala's friendly office I was made to feel at ease and comfortable. I recently had to have a crown and all I can say is that the crown Dr. Wiitala created is absolutely perfect. Dr. Wiitala doesn't rush you through your appointment and carefully explains all procedures. I am so pleased with my smile - thank you Dr. Wiitala!

My past left me painfully scarred--physically and emotionally. Nearly 10 years ago, my husband (who knows I don't allow others to take care of me) forced me to see Dr. Wiitala.
It had been years since I had been in a dentist's chair, but I'll never be in any other dentist's chair again.
Dr. Wiitala gets a 5-star for all the other reasons the reviewers list AND for putting up with the likes of me!

Dr. Wiitala and his staff always provide a welcoming atmosphere to the "dreaded" dentist visit. The office has evolved and expanded in a beautiful fashion, adding to that welcoming feeling one has when walking in. They are punctual about check ups and reminders for your appointment. They are also very cognizant of your experiences during every cleaning.

My husband & I have been patience of DR. Wiitala's for 5 plus years and we have nothing short of awesome experiences every time we go.
I have a tad extensive dental history with lots of work; root canals - re-root canals & fillings - re-fillings. - my recent visit yesterday shows and older filling so large needing be replaced and of course it time for a crown, but I'm excited to go because I have the BEST dentist ever.
On another note, due to scheduling issue I had to bring my 3.5 year old with me to my cleaning yesterday and Danielle (hygienist) was awesome at letting her

While most people don't like going to the dentist, I can truthfully say I don't mind seeing Dr. Wiitala. First off, he's one of the nicest guys and his staff is the same. The medical practice I work for refers to him quite often and our patients have been very happy with their experiences. The usual routine begins with a cleaning with the hygienist. That's the not-so-fun part. I've got a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth so they have to use an ultrasonic to clean up down there.
