I had amalgam fillings removed by Dr. Hatland a few years ago and he removed the fillings in an unsafe manner. He did not use the proper protocol for safe removal and I have been dealing with the after effects ever since. Shortly after the removal by Hatland, I started feeling the effects of the mercury toxicity as a result of his improper practices. I took a chelation supplement at that time and did experience some improvement in my condition. Here I am a few years out, yet again feeling the effects of mercury toxicity. Go elsewhere for safe amalgam removal.

After looking for holistic dentists in my area, I went to Dr. Hatland for the safe removal of amalgam fillings. I wound up being exposed to the mercury in those filling because of the Dr's unsafe removal procedures. He doesn't follow the proper protocol which includes keeping the patient and others in the room from inhaling fumes generated in the removal process. I have since experienced symptoms of mercury toxicity. Go elsewhere for amalgam removals.

I've had this dentist for years until my insurance changed and I later relocated to another state. He is the best dentist I've ever had in my lifetime. He is professional, friendly, affordable and very knowledgeable. He closed my gaps, gave me a crown and 2 veneers that still exists 24 years later. This dentist had a cutting edge lab in his office back in the nineties when it was rare. You'd have to go elsewhere to have an impression taken. Should I ever return to reside in Chicago, he'll definitely be my dentist again. I love this dentist!

Dr. Hatland is very attentive to gum care, and provides a significant amount of education and cost-effective tools (like Hydrofloss). As a result of an accident, I recently had some old fillings replaced--Dr. Hatland spent almost 90 minutes to get it right. Painless (although still not fun). Enjoy his manner and his office staff.

I always liked Dr. Hatland and have always been happy with his work - been a patient for 10 years or so. This last time has been a nightmare. Made an appointment on 12/29/15 for 4pm with receptionist. Lo and behold I get there and no appointment. They had booked someone else in the spot. I left and said I would never go back. This is the second time something has happened. Not sure if it is Dr. Hatland or his staff. I now have a swollen jaw, been four weeks, from a broken bite guard. Dr. Hatland sorry gotta' go. Now I will have another stick his/her hands in my mouth.

Yes, the office is outdated, and Dr. Hatland speaks his mind; he's a bit of a curmudgeon. I was recommended to him by two friends who have seen him for years. He works with you on insurance, is less expensive than many dentists and has an alternative point of view that I appreciate. He does more for people's gums than anyone I've been to. He also has many, many years of experience. Finally, he helped my son with TMJ issues and without surgery.

I had gone to the same dentist for cleanings every six months for 20 years. When I told my dentist that a couple of my front teeth were loose, he referred me to a periodontist. You can imagine my distress when the periodontist told me I had advanced gum disease and would likely lose a tooth within a few months! I walked in for my first appointment about 5 minutes early as there is usually first time patient forms to fill out. I felt like I was stepping onto the set of Miami Vice. The color scheme was peach and turquoise and had not been decorated in 3o years. The chairs were falling apart too.
I filled out my papers listening to a patient crying....on speaker phone. How professional. One receptionist took the phone into the doctor who was working on another patient. I asked the other woman behind the desk if that person on the phone

I agree with the previous reviewer, Dr. Hatland can do miracles for curing TMJ pain. I have seen many, many doctors, surgeons, physical therapist and dentists prior to him who all claimed that they can cure my TMJ pain. Some even told me thatt I would have to live in pain for the rest of my life. All Dr. Hatland did was simply listen to my jaw and the way my teeth occluded. No other doctor checked my bite and that is all it took to solve my problem. I recommend him to anyone who has any kind of TMJ or jaw pain.
