Mijares Mexican Restaurant
More than 100 years ago, Jesucita Mijares fled the revolution in Mexico searching for a new life for her family. After settling in Pasadena, she opened a small tortilla factory. It quickly became known for its tiny restaurant featuring Jesucita's original recipes, tortillas, tamales and sauces made with her metate stone grinder carried from Mexico.

Today, Mijares Mexican Restaurant is Pasadena's oldest and finest Mexican restaurant known for its authentic regional and traditional cuisine, famous margaritas, and festive patio dining. And, Mijares remains a family tradition under the care of the Mijares family. This legacy is a tribute to Jesucita Mijares, who passed away in early 1988.

Terrible the manager maria was rude and had the nerve to tell us we was too loud with our phone . When other people was louder and rude making crazy noise we talked to her and told the reason was to drown out the people loud noise they had the nerve to complaints . I didn't know you had a certain amount of noise you are allowed to have you are in an environment with tons of people are making noise why do you single out one particular group. Very unprofessional I will never go back there again I do not recommend this place at all and some of the food was cold and they also double charged me on my

Going to a UCLA football game and we needed a place to eat. The restaurant was busy so we sat at the bar and ordered. The bartender was great, margaritas and food excellent. We weren't rushed and enjoyed our time. We will be back, Thank you

Waiters & outside dining were more than pleasant. Felt the food isn’t as good as it used to be but that might just be old age talking. Changed my mind on another visit. I never complained but they corrected the the taco salad back to the way I remembered it. My parents brought us frequently to eat here. Good prices, great atmosphere, good food. No complaints from us kids. 70 years later we still like this place a lot.

Beautiful restaurant; vibrant & fun. Good food (with large portions!) Friendly and accommodating staff. Would definitely visit again. (Discreet entrance BTW! Don't know if I would have found it if a friend didn't know it.)

Decent food, great salsa, excellent Margaritas and a bustling restaurant. We had a much needed, fun evening with friends here. Any other time I would have given it 3 stars on just the food part but everything else was so great that the food became a part of the whole experience. The service was on point and their Margarita packs a solid punch...no wishy, washy stuff...enjoyed them. 2 out of the 4 dishes on our table were good and 2 were okok. The Chile Verde was not the best but enjoyable enough. The vegetable fajitas were a tad disappointing but the combo meat fajitas were good.
We will definitely

We stopped in for dinner here for the first time after having driven by dozens of times. The service from the security guard, to the host, to our family-fun waiter, Mauricio, to the intuitive runners refilling our chips and salsa, etc., right down to the wonderful manager - everyone was fantastic. And the food, authentic and A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! You get why this excellent restaurant has been around for 100 years.
Being born and raised in Los Angeles, I’ve have had my fair share of Mexican food, and this is easily one of the top 5, and there are a lot of Mexican restaurants in LA.
Thank you Mauricio

Loved the atmosphere. The bar is top notch as far as decorations. My blood orange margarita was killer! The waiter worked hard to make sure we were happy. The Mexican pizza was just alright. Nothing to write a review about.😉 But I would definitely go back to try the fried ice cream

To begin with, I wish I can give this restaurant a 5 star rating but I am giving 4 stars. There are some concerns. We had to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated although there were alot of unoccupied tables. The management seems to have some staff issues. Then there's parking issue. All the parking lot and side streets near the restaurant were just about filled. I had a chicken fajitas and it was good and price was modest.

Amazing service, great food, and drinks! Mary, our server was upbeat and kept us laughing. We felt at home even though it was our first time.
