After 10+ years in anchorage I can finally say I liked a Mexican restaurant as some of the ones I grew up with in CA. Each one of us having dinner kept saying, "this is soooo good. We will be back!" And that is the truth. Enchilada sauce was fantastic and the seafood in my Acapulco taco was cooked amazing. The service was fantastic. They were attentive, quick and very friendly.

AMAZING food. I was really happy with my food it was awesome. There were some very... Interesting aspects about the restaurant. Kind of a kitchy atmosphere with the Christmas decorations being a huge contrast to the rest of the decor. The margarita glasses were wiped with that I can only assume was a very dirty bar rag because our glasses smelled of literally wet rag. And some of the staffs attire seemed a little unprofessional. All in all, it seems like a 1-2 star restaurant with an amazing chef. I'll be back for the food but not much else 😅

Ordered take out for the first time tonight and had a great first impression. Parking lot was busy the restaurant was pretty empty, but clean and friendly service. Next visit I hope to dine in. The dinner combo plates came with a lot of food rice and beans were flavorful. I ordered the chicken chimichanga (size of small burrito) and tamale which were both great.

The real deal for Mexican food. The flavors are as good as when you eat in the central region of Mexico. Customer service is outstanding and the restaurant is clean and inviting. Must try if you visit Anchorage

Great good and a fun atmosphere! Spinach enchiladas were really tasty (and gluten free!) and the house margarita was delicious.

One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. Got taken by a friend who’d been, and knew Ramon.
Sat down and was told “just order ‘Ramons Tacos’” and so I did. Ramon did not disappoint. Three amazing variety tacos, and Ramon himself was awesome. Absolutely will be returning.

Fantastic food and great service too!!
We have a big family and it's always hard to find a place we feel like is worth the price for feeding that many kids. This food was seriously delicious, I had the el pastor burrito and it was SOOOO GOOD!!
The serving for the fajitas for two was massive and it was delicious. The quesadillas are bomb too!!
Was a great experience and couldn't have asked for a better waiter too!

Food is mediocre. Messed up my order and brought a fried ground beef taco when I asked for a soft chicken taco. When we ordered margaritas they asked if we wanted a normal or top shelf and we requested normal. The bill charged 10.50 for the margaritas instead of the normal $7. When asked about this they said that the $7 normal margarita is made with wine instead of tequila. Who's ever heard of a standard margherita being made with wine. Totally dishonest bait and switch

Everything from the service to the food was absolutely phenomenal! The gentleman at the front desk gave top-notch customer service. This makes me want to never go to another Mexican restaurant because this place is so good. I feel like this is the only place in town that actually seasons their chicken. I had a 2 item combo, 3 item combo with chips and salsa. Their sprite is very crisp and nice. Their prices are also better than many places in town. Im a simp for El Dorado

Good quality Mexican food, and they're always quick (literally like 10-15 minutes). I love their mild salsa & chips that's when you know you're gonna have some gooood food.

Stopped in on a Sunday just past noon and we were seated promptly. Very welcoming staff, very friendly. Chips and salsa were prompt and they now serve tequila so margaritas were great! The food was awesome! Carne Asade was great, corn tortillas went perfect with it! Served very hot!! My wife enjoyed her tamale and Chile relleno. Very delicious, we will be back.

Great Mexican food! Have been up here for a few years and missed our easily accessible Mexican food in CA. This place has given me renewed hope of getting good Mexican food. We ordered a LENGUA and AL PASTOR Burritos. Both had great flavor. The lengua was not dried and was tender. The Pastor was very flavorveble delicious. We also ordered carnitas tacos and plain quezadillas. Which all tasted great. Will definitely come back!

I just had the el jefe. I don't know if it was the salsa or that the beans & rice actually had flavor. Or other places that serve beans & rice are just bland to me. Good amount of chips & salsa for one order. My only complaint was that the steak was burnt. I would have given a 5 rating, if I didn't have burnt steak.

Best Mexican restaurant in Anchorage. (And there are a LOT to choose from, so that's not an empty claim.) Great cultural vibe and excellent decor. Friendly service. Lots of space for social distancing. Truly friendly server, and super accommodating. For families: great kids meal options at very reasonable rates. (That's big deal when dining with kids.)

The prices are quite high for the quality of the restaurant. Meats are often burnt, soups are very greasy.
The tortillas are warmed up on a dirty grill; that is why they cone out greasy and with pieces of food.
This restaurant is giving a bad name to Mexican food.

Finally, amazing authentic Mexican food in AK! The shrimp diablo was exactly what I had in mind and even exceeded my expectations. The chicken mole enchiladas were very good as well. The sopapillas were the only thing that was not as I had pictured, they were dense dough covered in cinnamon and sugar instead of the hollow ones I'm used to. I did not come for dessert though, so I'm very happy and will be back!

I've passed this place on Tudor for 3.5
YEARS and never even realized
It was here! Saw the high reviews on Yelp when I had a taste for good Mexican food. (That "King" place is trash.) I came in and was immediately wowed by the instant feel of being transported to the southern AZ, northern Mexico I was familiar with. I got a hit of that home made salsa and I was SOLD. The HOT and the mild mixed made me HAPPY instantly! I tried a wine margarita and I knew I had a new spot!! I got the 3 combo plate. Rice that was seasoned well with beans that are seasoned too....ummmphhh! Taco,

If you want authentic mexican food with amazing portions, this is the place! I found this restaurant months ago as I was settling into Anchorage and it is still my top restaurant for Mexican food based on the following reasons:

1. The chips & salsa! Now I know that most mexican restaurants have chips & salsa BUT El Dorado has regular salsa, hot salsa, guacamole, & sour cream :) this extremely helpful when you have someone who loves spicy salsa (me) and someone who doesnt (my bf)

2. The portions! You don't have to ever worry about leaving hungry at El Dorado. They provide such

Friendly. Very friendly!

And honest - my dad forgot his credit card inside and the manager ran it out to the car.

Hot salsa makes no apologies (which I loved).
It's got some bite to it. Unlike the hot salsa at nearly every other Mexican restaurant I've tried in Anchorage, Eagle River, and the Valley.

The sour cream was very tasty. I can't say why. It didn't look any different than normal sour cream. But it tasted different. Maybe sweeter?!?

Take out needs some work. Everything was squished.

Each meal was placed on a plate wrapped in aluminum foil and then another plate

That was a treat!

I went in for lunch with fellow foodie James. Neither one of us had been in before. We got there at 11:15 on a Wednesday morning and the place was very quiet aside from the Latin Music wafting from the speakers overhead.

We were immediately seated by a very friendly gentlemen who I am sure has never met a stranger. I would say that he was infectiously friendly. James and I warmed right up to him in no time. We were given menus, cold water, and hot tortilla chips along with a few bowls of salsa.

The menu has a lot of familiar offerings with a few things that I was un-familiar
