My husband was with me and he has so many knots from working out, the lady who rubbed him did a really good job at loosening his knots he told me which is RARE because they are so massive.

Well that was... bizarre and uncomfortable. We had been eyeing this place as it's below our apartment and finally gave in despite the sketchy yelp reviews. The actual massage was OK, my boyfriend said his was painful. We got a couples massage and the 2 massage therapists were talking to each other for probably half of the hour. The room was absolutely freezing. At the end of the hour, just like all the other Yelpers said, the cashier tried telling me how much to tip (she was suggesting $20 each for a $55 subpar massage). She would not accept 20% tip. Here's to contacting my credit card company

If i could give 0 star I would have done it. I wanted to get a message and saw this place was very close to my place. I was happy about it and went to get a massage. I was told by the woman who gave me massage that I have to give $20 tip. I wasn’t even asked and not giving an option to pay 20% tip. I told her I want to give 20% tip but she was keep insisting $20 which was 38% tip. This is ridiculous they can't tell people how much tip they have to pay.

Tony was great, no doubt. I also was curious but never found out anything. So many things have changed now. There was also Mr. Young who worked as masseur at the Avanti nail salon near there — he is gone with no trace and now the salon is too! Sad. I can recommend “Johnson” at Taiji if you like deep to moderate.

I was recommended to a therapist named Johnston at the Columbus Circle location, I made an appointment with him. When I got there they didn’t check me in they rushed me into a room and then a woman came in and I didn’t want to make a scene so I did say I had booked another person but whatever was fine. I was basically brutalized and no one asked if I had any issues and then I was forced to tip $20. Very strange experience. And they called me twice while I was on the massage table because they thought I hadn’t arrived because nobody really checked me in.

You get what you sign up for, very straight forward! This is a very reasonably priced massage- $59 for one hour with hot stone included. They listen to your cues- if you allow them to get the kinks and tension out of you, they will. If it's too hard they will listen to your cues. They are hardworking and respectful. Jack is very good if you need to release neck and shoulder tension especially-- I feel like a new person!

I went to another local massage place - and it was so bad that I immediately walked over here and had one of the best massages ever. Good prices and friendly people. Yes, the different price for credit card and the weird tip shame is real - but worth it for the price. And you should tip well anyway given the quality.

Avoid this place unless you want to be insulted and swindled. Got a deep tissue massage. First, the cover on the massage board's face hole was wet; when I asked for changing the sheet, the masseuse covered the wet spot with a napkin!
After the massage, the receptionist who is extremely rude added another 4 dollars to the bill for payment with a card (so far the total 59 dollars). Then, he asked for a 20-dollar tip (~33%). When I told him that the tip percentage is too steep, he grumbled and uttered something in mandarin.
If I could report this joint to the authorities, I would not hesitate.

I had a massage therapist from a different studio cancel on me right before my appointment which was annoying, so I decided to walk into Taiji because it was close by. I had low expectations, it looks like a hole in the wall studio. Once you get upstairs they had a pleasantly large facility and the rooms are clean and well kept. I went on a summer day and it was not too hot which was great (and surprising).
I booked a 60 minute massage, and was given a male therapist. The pricing is great, $55 for an hour, and this seriously was an excellent massage. It was not the typical asian parlor

A little dinky-feeling. I typically went to this location when the weather was chilly and the massage rooms would be uncomfortably cold.
During my massage, the technician stated out loud, 'You have very tight muscles.' Granted, he/or she (I cannot remember as I've had both in the past) could have been trying to sell me an extra 20 minutes to the back massage.
It had some good moments. I gave it a try. Not sure if I will ever be going back. Third times a charm? I think so.

I had marched in the World Pride parade the day before and was dying to get a solid rub down and boy did I find the right spot!! They were able to get me in right away since they always take walk-ins. My massage therapist, Linda, was kind with strong, FIRM hands! I was pleasantly surprised halfway through my massage when she whipped out some hot stones! A service they didn't charge any extra for!
I got a 2 hour massage for only $107!! I didn't think a great massage at the price was even possible in NYC!

I'm giving it 2 because it seems very hit or miss. It probably should be 1, but I don't like leaving bad reviews. My friends and I all got got massages, one was great, one mediocre and one awful. The awful one was mine... at one point he was using one hand to absentmindedly pet my foot while, hopefully, playing with his phone with the other. Afterwards, when I we went to pay, and tried to not tip well, I was informed that there was a mandatory 20% gratuity. I wouldn't go there again.

I was here on Wednesday and told them my neck and upper back were tight and to be gentle. The woman just nodded and said yes. I should have known right then it would be a disaster.
The woman was really rough and I kept telling her to be gentle. She wouldn't lighten her touch for a minute and then go back being really aggressive. Every time I yelped in pain she would laugh. She clearly did not speak English and I kept screaming in pain.
Awful experience! Do not recommend!

Decent looking place. Nothing Spectacular. Looks very much like an apartment turned massage area.
The people were very friendly and instructed us to undress and PLEASE keep underwear on. My Mother, Sister and I giggled for minutes wondering what monstrosities they've seen to put such emphasis on the please. We laid down and waited roughly 4 minutes before the therapists came in and started to work us over. I'm pretty sensitive and usually hate the beginning of a massage because I'm always tense and in need of a massage but never get one. Go figure.

Wonderful place to relax your Body and Mind! Despite the review I found on yelp that others write, I found this place is one of the best massage spots in NYC, I have known them in the past years and they have multiple locations in NYC and none of them we're disappointed to me. Great atmosphere and the massage service was absolutely great, very professional!!!

I have to say the only reason i give this low rate is because of the rude girl in the front desk. Her attitude and behaviour were extremely unpleasant.
We came for a one hour treatment. Reflexology and a full body massage. From the start the receptionist was unpleasant, looking angry and not smiling once. Very impatient to our questions.
When we finished, we came and pay and added 17% tip. The girl in the front desk was attacking us that we suppose to pay at least 20%, and was extremely grumpy and rude. We did not argue and payed 20% tip. She made us feel extremely

It was also my first time getting a real full on body massage, but I was too tired to be nervous!
The place is clean and rooms are closed off by curtains. In the background they have calming music playing although you can still hear a little bit of whats going on outside. Where you strip everything except for undies and lay face down with a towel waiting for the masseuse to come. I had a lady who did a wonderful job. I had her focus on my shoulders more and a little bit of my calves

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The rooms are actually very clean, but the positive comments end there. My masseuse was rude and flat out mean. I like a very strong massage, but she took it to the next level- I could not breathe at points and I told her "too strong" but she did not stop. She was aggressive in a way that did not feel therapeutic. When it was over I was in shock from the pain. My body was traumatized.
