I was born and raised in the Island and this restaurant brought me back to when my abuela would cook for me. The staff is super friendly and professional, the ambiance is on point and the food is exquisite. I had the sorullos de maÃz and the Mofongo relleno de Pernil. I’ll definitely be coming back and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Saturday afternoon, the wife and I went driving around undecided as to what to eat. We finally decided on the De Rican chef and it was the best decision we made! I ordered the Pollo Asado (half a baked chicken) which was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and a side of yellow rice. I had to take some home as it was alot of food. Friendly service in a nice atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and give the De Rican Chef a try.

. Amazing service from Luigi. I had white rice, red beans and fried pork chops which came with a side of lettuce and tomatoes . I was highly impressed with the service, how quickly my food came out and how good it was. It tasted fresh . I had me a cold Malta India which was good. IYKYK. Would definitely come back here for some authentic Puerto Rican food. I love how they play Spanish music, it's bright and there are flat screen televisions for entertainment.

This is my second time eating here and both times I have been impressed. I love their empanadas (beef and cheese) so much that I find myself craving them. They have indoor and outside seating. The staff are very pleasant. I talked it up with the manager and learned they are opening a new place up at the Ocean front and have one acrosee the river on the peninsula. Im looking forward to going back and expand my palate to try some new dishes.

Being Puerto Rican, I can assure you that the food here is authentic.
When you taste a dish that awakens childhood memories, well, what can I say, that's got to be good.

This place was an unexpected treasure! They had social distancing with seating and the food was delicious!. We got the beef and chicken stews and the meat was super tender! Very nice portions of rice and a whole bowl of beans that were like a soup! I had plenty of leftovers for tonight. The drinks were also delicious and you could taste the alcohol! This is definitely my new spot! The empanadas had the tastiest beef I have ever tasted!

I've never had a figurative hug until I have arrived in this place. De Rican Chef is one of the best Puerto Rican restaurants here in the Hampton Roads. It's bewilding that no one has ever recommended me this place before versus other places here.

My group got the Rican sampler and boy was it filled with fried goodness. Empanadas, plantains oh my I feel like I'm in San Juan.
But the main show of the lunch was the mofongo.

Place has plenty of seating and space. Very nice ambiance. Server was very informative, and friendly. Bartender was awesome with the drinks and the Coquito was on point. All in all the staff was very welcoming.
Food was superb and will leave you full. I ordered the mofongo with crispy pork and that was good in every type of way. Def coming back

I am so mad I have to do this. I love the owner, he's as sweet as can be. The food is the most authentic Puerto Rican food in the 757. My food tonight was GREAT! However our waiter was HORRIBLE. He was nice but ignored us most of the night. I think his name was Gianni or Giovanni or something like that. We had to ask other servers for help as he kept walking past our table. We asked other servers for boxes and the bill. He finally showed up with the bill. This isn't the first time he's done this. Back in July 31st he took forever as well. We took it as a fluke. I hope the owner talks
