I am writing this well after my last visit, because I just yelped in pain trying to eat an apple, the constant reminder of my horrible experiences with this practice. My initial visit was for a broken tooth. After the consultation I was told that It was not a broken tooth but a piece of reconstruction from a filling that broke, and several of my fillings were old and needed to be replaced and to make an appointment to do so. To be fair it had been too long since my last visit to the dentist, so I trusted them. When I returned they told ME that I had broken a tooth, the initial reason for the visit

I had a great experience with this office. My fear of the dentist keeps me away but today I found a place that makes me comfortable. Allison and Dr Backiel are both great at making you feel relax and helping you understand what needs to be done. What Allison did to my tooth today was remarkable and I look forward to seeing the end results when all the work I need is finish. Definitely would recommend this office to anyone looking for dental care.

I can not say enough good things about Dr. Backiel's office. I have had anxiety about the dentist for as long as I can remember. My experience here was so the best and most comfortable I have ever felt. Dr. Backiel is warm, patient, and so friendly. Jen is so kind and intelligent. I am not excited about the cavities, but for the first time ever I am not anxious about getting them filled. Thank you all!!

Before I became a patient with Dr. Backiel I never understood what the importance of dentistry was. Her as well as her staff really take the time to explain things to you and give you every option possible to save your teeth. My first appointment went ok.
During my second appointment office was visibly overbooked, person in the next chair left after waiting for her cleaning for over an hour. All that put pressure on stuff and midway through my appointment doctor disappeared and the assistant was doing my fillings. Which is fine but they ended up filling in between my teeth. After multiple attempts to fix it, dr was brought back in and they decided to drill it all over again and redo the filling. I didn’t get as much as an apology but an acknowledgment of what happened.
After anesthesia wore out it was obvious there

I recently had a visit at the office and I could not be happier with my treatment! During times of this pandemic, it is comforting to see the plans in place to have a safe and clean environment, and that is how the office is set. It pains me to leave this review. I have been a patient of Dr. Backiel's for seven years. I referred multiple friends and family members and even had my son visit on a few occasions. During moves and job changes I remained loyal to her and still traveled to Center City and paid the exuberant parking fees to visit her. Came in for some fillings and a cleaning and as someone who is not a huge fan of dentist it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The front desk is extremely helpful and welcoming. Allison was amazing while working on my teeth and she made sure I felt comfortable throughout my time there.

Came here a few times before realizing i deserve better care. the open concept clinic has got to be a hippa violation. i love dogs but having one in a clinical setting doesn't seem sterile. the hygienists were nice and did a good job but it felt like a constant up sell from the disinterested dentist who never once bothered to actually look inside my mouth in all my visits there. i felt she was more concerned about whether she could get me to buy whitening or braces. i also have never been to an office that keeps hours where only hygienists are on staff performing bite adjustments and other

I wish i had seen some of these reviews sooner. Like several others below mentioned, an extreme amount of work was recommended to me upon realizing that i have really good dental insurance.
I got a 2nd opinion from my prior dentist, who did not think that any of my fillings had issues. Stil, I reluctantly agreed to Backiel's office replace several fillings. While doing one these, my tooth was drilled to the point that i needed a root canal, and crown.
I went elsewhere for the root canal and back to my old dentist for the crown. Both were surprised to hear about this experience.

Almost 100% sure it's all a spam. I've never had a dentist tell me that I had cavities and tooth decay, but she managed to find "enormous" decay that ended costing me $200 after insurance. My teeth feel messed up and it's really frustrating to think someone can mess with your mouth like that. My teeth do not feel normal and it's really upsetting. Also, ive never had problems with recession in my gums and I swear they scrapped as much of my gums away as possible and now my teeth are sensitive. Completely believe it's medical male-practice

I have always had anxiety about the dentist however after my first visit with Dr. Backiel all my worries subsided and now after my second visit, I am kind of excited to go back. Dr. Backiel and her team handled me with such care. They were candid in each step of the process and made sure I felt comfortable. Everyone is so sweet. The office is clean and the music is great. Dr. B and her team are fantastic! Waiting room is nice (bonus: great music playlist too) and staff are always pleasant. I get cleanings every 3-4 months and I am always pleased with my experience at Backiel and Associates when I leave. The techs are kind, quick, and gentle. Dr. Backiel is friendly and down to earth and uses up to date technology. She's a straight shooter. All around fantastic practice.

This dentist office is my favorite! Firstly, everyone is extremely personable and the moment you walk in, they say hi as if you've know each other for years. It feels warming and professional. If you had any worries about going to the dentist, they sincerely help reduce the tension.
Secondly, the space is clean and easily accessible!
And lastly, I've left feeling clean and healthy every time. Dr. Backiel and the technicians have always been so knowledgeable. They take the time to explain things and answer questions.

I finally don't dread going to the dentist! Dr. Backiel and her team are so nice. They make you feel comfortable, yet still perform all tasks in a professional manner. They are always on time and follow up as needed. I love talking to the dental hygienists and the front desk staff are very welcoming. I get my teeth cleaned here regularly, but I've also had bonding done and still look look great!

I'm writing this review a bit concerned after having two fillings completed today. I had an initial teeth cleaning performed in January which went well. I had my next cleaning in July which did not go so great. Each time I've visited I've waited a significant amount of time to even be seen for my teeth cleanings, at least 40 minutes which is rough as I usually try to fit in my appointment over my lunch break. My second teeth cleaning was extremely painful, the hygienist was so rough with my gums that I was still in pain after the appoinment. Besides that, she was super negative about

I have been going to this Dental office for the last 3 years. The staff is super friendly, and the service is great. Unfortunately, because of my changing project, I will no longer be able to visit them.

I'm a patient for life now. The entire staff is engaging and professional. They were VERY clear with my bill on what exactly would be covered by my insurance and what is my responsibility. They gave me several levels of treatment from immediate (root canal for a painful tooth) through cosmetics for some teeth whitening.
This place really is the total package and I'm so glad I looked around and found Dr. Backiel.

I have been twice now, once for a cleaning and exam, and again today for a bonding.
For starters, when you call they actually answer the phone - and are pleasant and friendly! I know that shouldn't be revolutionary, but have you called around looking for dentists recently?
Once the appointment was booked they emailed me all of the forms to fill out prior to my appointment, which was a nice touch.
The office itself is conveniently located, and a beautiful space. All of their exam chairs face picture

The best Dentist! Dr. Backiel and her staff have been taking care of ALL my dental needs for many many years now! She is gentle, knowledgeable and I drive all the way from Brooklyn, NY just to see her!! I'm even just finishing my Invisalign and it's awesome!!! Never have I been made so comfortable and cared for in a dentist's chair than when I sit in Dr. Backiel's office. She has been my dentist for almost 10 years and one of the best in Philadelphia as far as I'm concerned. My wife and my 20 and 23 year old children as well as my sister in law are all patients of hers. Her staff is warm and caring and enjoy finding out what's new in your life and how things are with you in general. Dr. Deb always has a new story to tell her patients and wants to keep the appointment light and fun even when she is skillfully performing major surgery
