You're feeling isolated and lonely. You're driving yourself crazy with worry or terrified of having another panic attack. You're irritable all the time or feeling "blah" about life. You're struggling to manage difficult family relationships or you're feeling disconnected from your significant other and you're tired of fighting all the time.

You're starting to notice that drugs and alcohol are causing problems in your life. Together, we'll work on identifying what you want your life and relationships to look like, what got in the way, and how to get there.
Services
My style is direct, flexible and collaborative. In our work together, I won't just listen and nod. I am an engaged participant, asking pointed questions, offering feedback and challenging you when necessary. Our work together will be a partnership. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), holding a Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois- Chicago and a bachelors degree from Michigan State University.
Adult Children OF Alcoholics (ACOA) share a unique set of life experiences and characteristics. I can help to address your relationship with your family now that you are an adult, explore how your experiences have affected you personally, professionally and in your relationships, assist with setting healthy boundaries and more.
We are living in a strange time. You're isolated and uncertain about what the future holds. You're anxious about your health, next steps in your career and wondering when life will go back to normal. Maybe you've been thinking about attending therapy for a while now, but just haven't gotten around to it.
Loewenstein Counseling Group is an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield. We accept traditional BCBS PPO insurance, as well as the BCBS "Blue Choice Preferred" PPO policies. I do not accept BCBS HMO insurance. If you have an alternate insurance type, you are welcome to self-pay and I am happy to provide a receipt for reimbursement to your insurance company.
Finding the right therapist is essential to benefitting from your experience in therapy. It has to be a good fit. I am happy to offer a 10-minute, complimentary phone consultation prior to scheduling an appointment to answer any questions that you may have. During our first appointment, we will get to know each other.

Overall, Kate is exceptional. I have been told that your therapist may be friendly, but she is not your friend. If your therapist is your friend then she is not your therapist. I am truly challenged by this. Kate's office is warm and welcoming, you almost feel like you're sitting on a friend's coach. Kate has been able to help me sort out a lot of life's challenges - can not recommend enough. The hazelnut coffee doesn't hurt either.

She is extremely motivated to help her clients meet their goals and develop a positive sense of self. Loewenstein Counseling Group deserves the highest possible recommendation.
