LifePath Therapy Associates is a psychotherapy practice that strives to support and empower individuals, couples and families through the lifespan and across diverse communities. We believe in embracing each individual's unique strengths and we celebrate the resilience of the human spirit.
Our practitioners are warm and compassionate and believe in collaborating with each person who walks through the door to help them build the life that they wish to live.We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to seek out help and support for personal matters. We find that when we do take this first courageous step, we build our confidence and move toward building the life that we truly want to live.

When someone we love dies, our world is turned upside down. One minute we might feel unimaginable sadness and the next moment feel anger or even numbness. Sometimes, we feel unable to imagine our life without the person we have lost. Or, we struggle to find an answer to the question of why. Grief may also bring complicated or unresolved feelings about the person we have lost.
Most people will experience trauma in their lifetime whether it's a car accident, childhood abuse or neglect, the sudden death of a loved one, a violent crime, or a natural disaster. Even witnessing trauma or repeated exposure to other people's trauma can significantly impact us. Following a traumatic event, it is normal to feel fear, sadness, anxiety, or disconnection as our body and mind attempt to make sense of what has happened.
If this sounds like you, we are confident we can help you feel better. Our therapy practice specializes in working with clients like you. Chicagoland residents who are burdened with anxiety and worry. We know how to support clients to move towards positive change. Change, in ways that honor each client's particular life experiences.
When you feel detached, down, deflated, and dejected, it takes every ounce of energy to reach out for help. The very notion of taking the first step feels completely overwhelming and burdensome. Most people that seek help for depression do so with little hope for the possibility of change. Yet, this is what encapsulates the depressive experience.

I’ve been working with Kim for years and I can’t say enough wonderful things about her approach to therapy. The work we’ve done together has allowed me to challenge myself to make meaningful changes in my life and I feel myself growing into the person I want to be. Kim’s warmth, humor, and insight make her the best fit for me, and have made therapy one of the best parts of my week. She challenges me to reframe negative thought patterns while supporting and validating me through the process, and her passion for her work is palpable in our sessions.

Kim Vander Griend and Amy Wilbourne are very experienced clinicians as well as founders of LifePath Therapy Associates. As a fellow mental health professional, I have been consistently impressed by LifePath’s commitment to effective and compassionate mental health treatment and focus on continuing professional development and clinical ethics. I regularly refer clients to LifePath Therapy Associates and highly recommend all of the therapists who work there.

I am a social worker in a Chicago hospital and have referred multiple patients to LifePath Therapy Associates. All the staff I have communicated with have been very professional and thoughtful. I always feel good about sending someone to LifePath because I know they will receive the best care by experienced and knowledgeable therapists. I highly recommend working with this group.

Having worked with both Kim and Amy, the founders of LifePath Therapy Associates, in the past, I can confidently attest to their excellent clinical skills, welcoming demeanors and genuine commitment to helping others. As a colleague and fellow mental health provider, I often refer to LifePath and know that new patients will be met with a responsive staff who will look holistically at what the patient is going through and have an integrative approach when considering interventions.
