The DEPOT HOTEL RESTAURANT and GARDEN is located just two blocks from the lovely Sonoma Plaza in the heart of wine country. Built in 1870, the DEPOT HOTEL was originally the local hotel for 19th century passengers arriving on the train from San Francisco. The original owners also opened an Italian restaurant and "saloon" here in 1890 to serve the townspeople of Sonoma and their visitors.
When the original DEPOT HOTEL and Restaurant closed, the building became a private home. The building today is a Restaurant with a lovely garden serving rustic Italian cuisine - no hotel rooms, though, since 1922. We are completely open for dining outside in our spacious garden, as well as indoors in our charming sun-lit stone building.

Salads were great. Outdoor seating by the pool was absolutely magical and lovely.
Fettuccini bolognese was very salty and noodles over cooked. Ravioli was also salty.
Raspberry crème brûlée was runny and had way too much raspberry taste...which over powered the crème brûlée flavor.
Would I go back...for ambience yes...for food...probably not.

After a hot Sonoma day, and filled with a bit of bubbles, we wandered down here for our dinner reservation. It's right down the block from the square and pleasant to meander to as the weather begins to cool off. When we got there, we were seated outside and the ambiance was incredible - beautiful outdoor lights, a fountain, etc. A yellow jacket took a liking to our table, which I didn't like all too much. But had a glass of wine and the Tonnarelli (black pasta with the mussels and clams). It was delicious! I would be happy to come back any time.

Really enjoyed this yummy Italian restaurant after a day of wine tastings. This place was definitely filled with large Bachelorette parties. The outdoor seating was lovely around the pool. The service was friendly, quick and efficient. I can't remember our servers name but she was a lovely woman from Sintra Portugal. We ordered a Ceasar salad (with actual anchovies on top), the fettuccine bolognese and tortellini with peas and prosciutto. Both pastas absolutely hit the spot and were decent portions. We finished our dinner off with dessert. I highly recommend the salted caramel gelato. Definitely

A great Italian restaurant located in Sonoma a little off the beaten path.
We had a delicious lunch in a casual garden setting.
Soup, salad, entree, and dessert shared between two of us came to $100 exactly with two glasses of wine and tip.
The staff was attentive, efficient and welcoming. The salad lunch entrees that went by looked very fresh and generous., and the pizzas looked delicious. We opted for more traditional old school Italian selections like chicken Parmesan with tortellini as that seemed to be the restaurant’s vibe. They were fresh, tasty, and plentiful.

An amazing gem that is worth the hassle it takes going through downtown Sonoma. Set in an old hotel, this place offers an abundance of indoor seating or outdoor seating. We chose the outdoor seating as there was plenty of shade and beauty to behold while eating our meal.
We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were pleased by the wait staff (super friendly and attentive). We were never over bothered but also never unattended for long periods. As it was a birthday celebration, we went all out. I started with the prosciutto and pear appetizer and my husband had the Sonoma

Such a hidden gem in Sonoma County! It's a super cute mom and pop feeling Italian restaurant mixed with a bit of Tuscan twang. Every dish was super yummy and you could tell it was authentic. It would've been a 5 star experience if the bread was warmed, but hey, bread it bread and it was still amazing. We got the ravioli, the black spaghetti, the tortellini, the pork Milanese, the fettuccine Bolognese, and the salmon. All delicious dishes indeed!

Nice local Italian restaurant in downtown Sonoma. The garden patio was quite nice with a center water fountain.
Orchard Salad: A simple salad, but nice flavors from the blue cheese and pears.
Napoletana Pizza: the crust had a good texture and was nice and chewy. The anchovies were definitely on the saltier side.
Tagliatelle bolognese: the pasta had a good texture and the beef and ragu were solid.
Tortellini al funghi: for fans of truffle, you won't be disappointed as the truffle flavors were very heavy. This was quite a heavy dish due to the cream.
Veal parmigiana: veal was well breaded

I cannot speak highly enough about The Depot Hotel Restaurant. The restaurant was recommended to us by the folks at Roche Winery earlier that day and I'm so thankful we were able to get a reservation at Depot Hotel. From the moment we walked in the door, I was impressed! We sat in the main dining area and were waited on by the kindest young man, Cooper. Cooper was so attentive and continued to be attentive, despite the restaurant filling up and getting busier and busier.
We started with the Fried Mozzarella which was so good (yet petite) that we decided to order another. I honestly don&apos
