Services
Mid North Animal Hospital has been proudly serving the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL since 1973. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been trusted to care for our community's pets, and are committed to provide the highest quality veterinary care possible throughout your companion's lifetime.
Our goal is to provide not only diagnostic and preventive health care, but also education for pet owners. We take the time to listen to your concerns and ideas when developing your pet's health plan or treating illness. Few things are as important to your dog or cat's overall health than healthy teeth and gums.
Keeping your pet's teeth in good condition is important to his or her overall health. Because dogs and cats use their mouths for eating, playing, exploring, and getting your attention, many will have some type of dental problem even early in life. Untreated dental problems can lead to kidney, heart, and liver disease.
Radiographs are a useful tool our doctors use to examine your pet's internal organs, bones, or joints and to visualize any abnormalities. All of our x-rays are digital which provides us with high quality images that our doctors can look at immediately after being taken. All x-rays are then reviewed by a board certified radiologist.
Saying goodbye and letting go of a loved one is always hard and making decisions in your pet's best interest as they age can be a difficult choice. No matter what you decide, we are here to help you and your pet through the process. While it is not something anyone likes to talk about, we advise discussing a few things before there is a need, so you will not be making a decision when you are emotionally distraught.

Pickles and I love coming here (which is saying a lot for a cat going to the vet). Dr. Egan and her staff were excellent in calming Pickles down, and explaining her necessary treatment to me. We will definitely be visiting this office again!

My dog stole and ate half a chicken and was barffing up chicken bones. We just moved to Chicago and another dog owner kindly recommended this vet so I called and hope to get my dog checked. The vet on the phone told me it's an emergency and URGED me to get my dog checked BUT also claimed "we are not accepting new clients". How ironic and cruel! Can you believe in a vet if she/he reject to make a little bit of time to see an animal in need of urgent care? I don't and you shouldn't.

As a new pet owner, it is very worrisome when your furry friend has to be taken into the vet. However, Mid North makes you feel taken care of immediately. Their staff, especially Miriam and Dr. Egan, are so kind, calming and helpful. They were able to take my kitten, Santino, same day and took care of my concerns. I am so happy to have found a vet as helpful and kind as them. 😊

I have had such a wonderful experience with Mid North Animal Hospital. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, helpful, and calming. The vet is stressful and this team makes sure each animal is calm, happy, and taken care of. It's such a refreshing experience. Miriam, Parker, Sean, Dr. Egan, and the rest of the team have made my many visits (whether it's with my foster kittens or my own cat) very pleasant and easy. I am so happy to work with this group!

Dr. Schnoor and her team were warm, welcoming and very accommodating from the moment my dog and I walked in the front door! Having recently relocated from Manhattan, the front desk team was quick to respond to our online request and scheduled a same day appointment. Our family is beyond grateful for the thorough and efficient manner that she and her team take care of their patients. Thank you!!

I came to Mid North because they are the vets who work with Feline Friends, the organization from which I rescued my baby kitten, Fiona (Fifi).
Fifi was so tiny when I adopted her after she was abandoned at the pound that they couldn't spay her prior to her coming home with me in July.
By the time she was ready in September, based on her energy, attitude, and major, major growth spurt, we all figured this would be an uneventful, routine procedure.
It turned out Fifi had an abnormally high liver enzyme in her pre-surgery labs the first time, and again, the second attempt, a few weeks later. Rather

We recently had to do one of the saddest things you must do for a suffering pet. We knew it was the end and Dr. Laura could not have been more supportive during an awful time. When we made the decision, we asked to be in the room when our sweet cat passed away, and they accommodated all our requests. We were completely distraught, but the doctor and staff were kind and supportive throughout. After, they sent a lovely sympathy card signed by all the staff, our cat's pawprint on the Rainbow Bridge poem, and made a donation in our cat's name to a climate sustainability charity. It has helped

I honestly think this place is kind of expensive for a vet, but the staff are all so kind and detail oriented I've been coming here ever since stumbling apon the place in an emergency. I needed to book a next-day vet visit but didn't yet have a regular vet, so I called several clinics near my home and couldn't find anyone who was able to fit us in until calling mid-north. Since then I've brought my cat back for routine care and boarding and they've always been pros.

It's unfortunate that I am writing this review but I feel like it is necessary. We have a 10 month old puppy who has had some traumatic experience with the ER vet when he was very young. He has been anxious ever since so it has always stressed us out as owners bringing our pup in for check ups. Our puppy recently caught a not so serious eye infection and I wanted to seek professional advice before treating it with anything. We have always liked midnorth however after our conversation with them today we will not be going back. They legitimately refused to see our pup without him being drugged

I can not express enough how great Mid North Animal Hospital was during our visit. They answered all of my questions clearly and kindly and took very sweet care of my two beloved cats. We were very stressed out and overwhelmed about moving cross country and flying with our cats and the people at Mid North offered tips and ways to solve potential problems. They were really able to help set our minds at ease.
Their prices seemed comparable to other vets in the area and even a bit cheaper (definitely for the vaccinations we were purchasing)

We have taken a few pets here and each visit has been worse than the one before. Our 12 year old cat had an infection that started as some sneezing and progressed from there. We took him in once and they demanded a $200 blood test and prescribed antibiotics. After a few weeks he did not get better so we took him back in. They barely looked at him, prescribed more antibiotics, and told us diagnostics would be between $800 - $4000 (quite the range) because it was likely cancer. Took him for a second opinion at Old Town Animal Care center. They did an X-ray and drained an tested the fluid build up

I don't know how this place gets anything but 5 stars! To the people who think it is expensive... it is in Lincoln Park, I am not sure exactly what you expected.
The front desk people are amazing and know what is happening with your pet at all times. The doctors listen to all of your concerns, even if they are a little intense. They are great with the animals, and you can tell they actually love what they do. I cannot recommend this place enough!
