By far the best indoor cycling studio I've ever been to (and I'Ve been to them all.). I even own a Peloton, which is fantastic, but you can't beat the energy you feel from those around you in the flesh in that dark, sweaty, and soulful studio. No unnecessary frills (just the bike, a towel, killer music, and the best instructors NYC has to offer), no "dancing" on the bike, limited "preaching" by instructors. It's competitive without being judgy.
I've been a member for over 3 years and I intend to keep showing up.

I took a cycling class once many years ago and swore never to do it again. My friend convinced me to try a class here and I wasn't crazy about doing it but I tried it. This is a place I would go back to again. It was challenging and I am not good at swerving to the beat but the instructor kept everyone motivated to move. Overall I felt like it was encouragement vs pressure to move my butt. Best of all my legs were still working after the class. I actually felt rather great.

Swerve is my #1 fave spin studio in NYC. I love that it's split into teams rather than individuals competing on a leaderboard. The music has always been great and I switch it up with instructors, so I've gotten a sampling of different musical tastes and class vibes and I have never been disappointed. The studio is also clean and they have showers in the locker rooms, which is a nice perk for when you need to catch a class before work or going out and don't have time to run home to get ready afterward.

Swerve Fitness separates itself from other cycling studios by gamifying the workout. You're placed on one of three teams, red, blue or green and the cumulative average of your team's score will show up on the scoreboard throughout class. I love this about Swerve, because the competition makes me push so much harder. As expected, it feels so good to be part of the winning team.
The playlist completely depends on the instructor, and I've definitely gone to classes where I really hated the music playing throughout class. For me, the music affects how hard I push and therefore the

Came to Swerve as part of classpass. The class was a lot of fun and great for biking enthusiasts. Biking to the beat is a great way to stay motivated when you're legs are on fire. The social pressure of doing well in your class is another great motivator to keep pushing hard. I came with a group of friends so we were all competing against one another.
There was a lot of biking while standing or biking in the dark. My favorite part of the class is when they turn off all the lights and tell you to push as hard as possible. Less visual distractions and a great opportunity to focus on the music

I came to try out a class here offered through my employer. I ended up trying 55min class and let me tell you I was a sweaty mess by the end of it. I have never done a class that was divided into three teams competing with one another. It was defs intense and the instructor was great. Beware your butt will definitely hurt if this is your first time!

I've never been the biggest fan of spin but I took a class at Swerve as part of Union Square's annual sweat fest. The class is team based and it definitely strikes the competitive chord in me. My team won today YAAAAHHS. Btw, they also email you your stats after class is over.
As far as the studio's amenities, they include the basics to freshen yourself up after a nice sweaty class. All the lockers here don't require a physical lock which is always a perk in my book. There are only three showers so the wait after class was quite long. Towels are provided and so are shampoo

Loved the studio, super clean and fresh looking. Jamey is super cute and friendly, loved her energy during the class. I'm a pretty avid cycler and I think this studio had a ton of pros and a few cons.
Pros: loved the technology on the bikes, it's the most straight forward and easy to read that I've seen. The bikes are great and very comparable to the new SoulCycle bikes but again, with technology. Loved the set up of the studio and the amenities. My smoothie was great too!
Cons: The whole class was Jamey talking so fast it was hard to focus and I didn't love the whole "

Spinning has never been my thing--I mean, I can't even peddle on an actual bike, so what are my chances of really enjoy a stationary bike? Probably very slim.
A girlfriend dragged me here for a special event and I wasn't all that thrilled since I'm pro-full-body movement exercises, but I'm always down to check out fitness studios (bonus for free workouts!). I was part of a large group from an event that conjoined with people who actually paid to take a class.

If you're into spinning with club music going on in the background then this is a fantastic place. They have smoothies and lockers and the instructor was great. With all that being said, this was my first time spinning and I didn't like it that much. My friends who I went with and have spun before seemed to think it was great, so I'll defer to their opinion.

I want to love this place and I like the class itself, but the bike is super uncomfortable. The seat is hard and apparently my arms are too short because even on the closest seat to handlebar setting available my arms were stretched at a weird angle for the whole ride. I know I'm short (5'1"), but I've never had this problem at any other spin studio.

Was super excited for my first time at Swerve and my very first cycling class ever!
Had a 5:30 Tuesday session with Simon and a 5:30 Friday session with James. Recommend Simon--very upbeat, chill and easy-going.
Easy online registration for open sessions, where you also get to choose which cycling station you want. The room is broken out into three cycling color code sections, corresponding to a team. During the 45 minute class, your individual score gets averaged with the scores of people on your team--everyone who's sitting in the same color coded area as you are. I've attended

Spinning is not normally my preferred workout class type, but I had a great experience in my first Swerve class. The gamification / team atmosphere and metrics kept me pushing my hardest for the entire session. I also appreciated the free shoe rentals. They also have a smoothie bar (though it was not open during my 7:30pm class), showers, and a generously sized (for NYC) locker area. New users get 2 classes for the price of 1.

I came here about a few weeks after my last visit (although this review is coming in late)... and I had a more positive experience!
I took class with DYAN and I'm happy I did. She is such a firecracker and her energy is contagious. For an 8AM class, she had so much positive energy and was able to effortlessly motivate us as individuals, on teams, and as a whole class. I would HIGHLY recommend her.
Additionally, I still believe their staff are honestly the sweetest and their lobby area the most spacious.
The only downsides for me are two bathrooms for everyone and the team competitive aspect

Overall I like the set up of swerve, the location is great and I've liked the instructors that I've had, given the 4 stars.
However, recently there have been a couple significant recurring problems:
(1) Their system sometimes glitches in the middle of the class, making the team competitive aspect of the class disappear and making your ability to track your progress after class very difficult.
(2) What is going on with their bike calibrations?! I've had multiple bikes in different groups go from a gear 3 to a 6 to a 4 within 10 seconds without touching anything on the bike, which

Taking a class at Swerve feels more like you're in a club with the best music and a team spirited atmosphere. Jason is energizing and motivating, his music makes class fly by. I feel challenged every week. This is an addictive workout!!
Staff is friendly, 3 showers in the girls locker room. Can be busy in the mornings but everyone is polite in sharing the limited hair dryers and space. Book early as certain instructors fill up fast. I love the theme rides!

***Competitive, Team work, & Challenging***
I tried out this cycling studio because I had a free ride. My instructor was Jason and he was very engaging and encouraging. The ride itself is challenging and you'll definitely get a good workout. It's very team work focused and you'll ride/swerve together throughout the entire workout. Shoes and towels are free. Great location and very hospitable staff.

Wow! I am impressed.
The Class - Its a team race packed with tons of sprints ranging from 20 seconds to 1 minute long (in my class). There are three teams, Red, Blue, Green in which accumulate "Swerve points" basically some custom power evaluation. (Why these places don't just use Watts, I'll never understand). Over the class there are sprints & rhythm sections where each team can accumulate points. The team with the most points in the end will win at the end of class.
The Studio - A juice bar, a few tables, $1 spin shoe rentals (mandatory to have spin shoes), lockers (which do not require locks

The BEST spin studio in NYC. I waited so long to write my positive review because I was hoping to keep this studio my secret, but the experience is just too amazing. You get to ride as teams and as an individual. The metrics and scoring keep me motivated and coming back. I always leave super sweaty. All the instructors are fantastic. My personal favorite is Andy because I hit a PR every time. Dyan has the best tunes! Don't forget to try to smoothies here because they're very good too.

Team cycling, how fun is that?! ok, maybe more fun cuz my team is always WINNING bahaha!
I'll admit I'm relentlessly competitive when it comes to pedaling furiously on a stationary machine going absolutely nowhere, i mean ... you might as well pretend you're racing, amirite? in that sense, SWERVE isn't intuitively where I perform at my best. However, there is something to be said about group motivation, especially when you see your bike # as the leader of your group and pulling your team to #1. There's a different motivation that propels you when it's a team effort

This is a great class! I am sort of new to spin but have been trying out a lot of studios and this is place is tops. The instrutor was encouraging without being cheesy. She had great music, lots of Trina! The team divisions and sprints really makes you go the extra mile on your sprints. I didn't get to try the smoothies but the selections looked great. I will go back.

This place is pretty awesome. They have taken the classic spin class, added weights (like most places) and then added team competition. Unlike Flywheel where you compete individually there are 3 teams and your scores as a team are put up on the board. You have real time races in class multiple times also. Additionally at the end of class you see your own numbers, privately and the studio also sends you an email with all of your ride stats including calories burned and your rank on your team and the class. I liked these extra features and felt less singled out because of the team atmosphere.
