SoNo Fitness is a small-group fitness gym that allows our trainers to focus on each student to help them achieve their goals. Our beginners program was created to safely introduce new members to fundamental movements and exercises necessary to be successful in any training program. The program will give you a strong foundation and better prepare you for our workouts.
Services
We will prepare new members for training by focusing on the basics movements and concepts necessary to be successful. This will ensure a fast and fun transition to the group program. Each class is programmed to teach you how to move and perform better as an athlete. This non-intimidating environment breeds success as coaches are able to give each athlete attention and provide scaling options.
SoNo Fitness workouts are constantly changing, designed to continually challenge our athletes. The Workout of the Day (WOD) is designed to incorporate varied metabolic conditioning circuits to produce results. Every workout is scalable to any level of experience to ensure the proper dose of intensity is applied.
The SoNo Women's Program is a comprehensive fitness and martial arts program for women by women. The program is designed to kickstart a healthier lifestyle. Our dedicated coaching staff will help you achieve your goals. The fitness program is a functional strength and conditioning program that, by design, can be adapted to all fitness levels.
For the first time in history, the two top styles that redefined martial arts, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Sityodtong Muay Thai, have joined forces in Chicago. Over nearly 100 years, the Gracie family has developed a grappling-based fighting system that enables a person of average size and strength to defeat a much larger, much stronger opponent.
Athletic performance depends upon proper nutrition. All areas of fitness build upon it. Without quality foods, eaten in appropriate quantities, no athlete can achieve his or her full potential. Our Nutrition Coach will work closely with you to understand your goals and design a nutritional program specifically for you.

I dropped into Sono this past weekend and had a great experience. Chris is an awesome instructor and the workout was challenging but fun! Definitely recommend giving it a shot if you are interested in joining a great community of people and want to be pushed to get more out of your time at the gym.

This place is fantastic! Although the floor space is not huge, they have a variety of equipment including dozens of barbells, racks, bumper plates, kettlebells, bands, rowers, boxes, etc. all in great condition. There are two bathrooms and a water dispenser.
I dropped in for a few days from out of town, and all the members and coaches were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The workouts are brutal, but the coaches emphasize good technique and safety.
Overall I had a great experience here and I highly recommend anyone in the area to check it out.

This place is amazing. From day one I felt very welcomed and part of the community. Sono is the antithesis of what you might expect from a fitness studio: the coaches are approachable, the workouts are accessible and the other members are fun & friendly. This place is the best. The programming is challenging (yet approachable for beginners), the coaches are engaged and knowledgeable, and the community to second to none. Prior to joining SoNo, I was strictly a solo exerciser who stuck to long sessions on the cardio machines. Z and his gym have totally changed that. I’m in the best shape of my life and actually look forward to working out for the first time. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I've been coming to Sono Fitness for 1.5 years, and it is truly the best gym! I started working out consistently 2 years ago and have tried several different fitness studios and gyms - including yoga sculpt classes at Core Power and a few training gyms, one of which also trained many NBA and NFL players. None have compared to Sono Fitness.
Unlike other gyms I've tried, the coaches at Sono ensure you learn proper form to prevent injury AND also motivate you to push yourself to do things you've never been able to do! I've had several moments at Sono where I didn't think I could do something, but

Amazing gym! I've been to a few different crossfit gyms and sono exceeds my expectations. Excellent coaching and such a great community. The owner really cares about his members and all the coaches really pay close attention to you during classes . Highly recommend if you are looking to get in shape with fun workouts!

I've been going to SoNo for almost two years, making it the longest I've committed to anything in years (ha!) and the longest I've committed to fitness ever. On the days I go to class, my hour in the gym is literally the only hour of my day that I am not worried, anxious, or preoccupied.
The space is small, but has everything you need to get a great workout in. Class size is limited to 14 people, which means you get a lot of one-on-one attention and feedback from coaches to help improve your technique. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this gym! The community and workouts are excellent! I've been at this gym for over 4 years, and was so inspired by the coaches and owner that I myself got certified to teach! Can't say enough about how special this gym is. You know there's an emphasis on providing a high quality experience when you see the the members who started years ago at the gym, still getting their fitness fix here. Crossfit SoNo is your best investment in fitness. Coaches Z and Chris run an excellent program. They have members that have come day in day out for more than 5 years. We also get regular visitors and new comers and the gym has a very strong reputation as a friendly place and a social club (post work out, of course). Come to Crossfit SoNo!

This gym is incredible, plain and simple. The coaches are knowledgeable and truly committed to helping you improve as an athlete. The environment is welcoming and the members are encouraging. If you are looking for fun small group fitness classes that will continue to push your performance levels, this is the place for you. I started at Sono 18 months ago and have never looked back. From my first visit (being really nervous) I was greeted warmly and introduced to the other members. I was eased in slowly and given very helpful feedback on how to improve. This feedback covered my fitness and form, but also stretched to my diet and my preparation: something you might not get with less attentive coaches.

Even after 18 months I still feel challenged and engaged to keep showing up and keep pushing myself.

Joined CrossFit SoNo a year ago- never regretted it! Not only I have become physically stronger in ways I never thought I could, I've also become more self-confident. SoNo has got awesome coaches who push your limits and make sure you are maintaining the right form while doing it. Love the small group setting, hardcore yet accepting and encouraging environment. Everybody is really friendly and helpful, supportive of each other. This is definitely a place I look forward to going every day!

Used to do crossfit in the suburbs, really liked it. Moved to the city. Started coming here and it was great at first - good instructors and good classes for a good price. After a few months of coming here, my boyfriend suddenly committed suicide. In shock, I moved back to my parents' for a bit and just didn't get out of bed for weeks. My membership expired in that time, but considering the circumstances, my gym membership was obviously not at the front of my mind. Without a doubt this has been my best gym experience in Chicago. The coaches have been great from both a technical and personal point of view. There is a great sense of community in both the morning and evening classes that is welcoming to new members and drop ins. I highly recommend Sono to anyone I know who is looking for a new gym, or is dropping in while visiting Chicago.

I've been doing CF for about 4 years now and of the 3 boxes I've trained at extensively before, SoNo has been the best. The instructors are not only knowledgeable, but also incredibly friendly and immediately make you feel like you're a part of the community. Between that and seeing how much my lifting technique has improved (they offer extra lifting skill sessions on Mondays) I don't think I can go back to working out by myself like I had been when I moved to the area.

The pricing for its proximity to the city (right next to N/Clyburn red line) is also the best in the area

I have been coming to Crossfit Sono for just over 3 months. Spending years working out at home with Shaun T and taking my first class here, I quickly learned that I never knew how to work out before. Zoran and Chris are great coaches and really care about making sure that everyone in the class knows what they are doing and has correct form and technique. My friends who also visit out of town love dropping in here. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Initially I was a little skeptical of this "crossfit" thing, but after meeting with Zoran and going through the trial WOD, I very quickly realized this was what was missing in my life.

From that moment on my girlfriend and I were hooked! A year and a half later and we are still as excited (If not more so) about coming here each day.

I have been to a few other Crossfit places and this one takes the cake.

There are only a few trainers and they are all great in their own way. Everyone is really nice and makes you feel really comfortable, and that includes the people that work out there. Beginner? Me too! They focus on form and help in any way they can.

If you have wanted to try crossfit and were too intimidated, try this place out. You won't regret it!

Resurrecting my Yelp just to say that CrossFit SoNo is fantastic and has completely changed the way I look at fitness and wellness. I've always been a gym goer, but I was bored/plateauing with my usual workouts. Out of curiosity, I decided to give that CrossFit thing a try.
