Services
The practice of veterinary medicine began at our present location just after the end of World War II. In 1945, the practice was started by Dr. Tom Guilfoil. When the war ended, Dr. Guilfoil originally from Kansas decided to start his veterinary practice in Seattle Washington. They found a vacant grocery store building at our present location and remodeled it into a veterinary hospital.
Dr. Kimmel grew up in the Seattle area with many pets including guinea pigs, gerbils, fish, cats, and dogs. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in biology and chemistry minor then moved back East to live and work in New York City for a few years before returning to Washington to attend Washington State University for vet school.
The best vet I could have ever asked for my little buddies. They are so great with the follow-up, and always take super thorough care of them, clearly explaining every situation. They have been our vet for 12 years, and excel at everything from puppy to elder dogs care. Best Veterinarians ever! They are so good to our kitties.
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is an international association of more than 36,000 veterinary care providers who treat companion animals. Established in 1933, AAHA is well-known among veterinarians and pet owners for its high standards in veterinary practices and quality care. AAHA is the only organization that accredits animal hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Elliott Bay Animal Hospital is currently seeking a full-time licensed veterinary technician to join our growing team! We are seeking a motivated licensed veterinary technician who is looking for long-term employment with an established veterinary practice. Our work family is the heart of our business and we are looking to add a compassionate and enthusiastic new team member.

My puppies have received excellent care here. I am glad I sought out EBAH. They are an excellent resource. Done with vaccinations!

We were referred to EBAH by a neighbor that loved them. She had cats. We have now been taking our dogs there for 23 years. Very competent, caring and professional staff. All of the vets have been excellent. We have referred many neighbors and friends to them. Would not take our dogs anywhere else.

Last week our cat Foster started having problems breathing-his temperature was high and the hospital took him in immediately even though they were packed. They took him from our car (closed to humans due to… Covid) and cared for him while we waited and we are so grateful.
He is home now – continuing on medication‘ and he is recovering. I am so grateful for this amazing group of professionals – they are first class and they know what they’re doing. I trust them with our cats lives.
I don’t have children – so our pets are our kids. It’s not easy turning

They're ok . I haven't had any horror stories with them yet. All the staff have been nice and courteous. The prices are definitely higher than perhaps a vet in renton. I think the vaccine prices are almost double. I can't imagine how much a cats teeth cleaning would be, so now I diligently brush her teeth everyday. And I do fear the day I need to get an expensive procedure. Might have to shop around when that day comes. But for now the annual visits are like $200. They did honor the coupon for free exam from the adoption center. I haven't ever been inside in the two years

Driving home I felt sad, confused, and regretful. It was as if I did something wrong. Our 4-month old puppy was shaking his head the night before and we were scared that something was crawling in his left ear. Our regular vet is usually booked up and cannot see us the next day so we took our pup to this place because we have always had a good experience trying to get a last-minute emergency triage. We carefully explained to the tech our situation, how we had seen our regular vet, but our pup's head shaking has not improved and we have observed him shaking his head more often in the past day

I am so sad about this place and had been coming here for 6+ years. I am High-Risk and avoid all high traffic areas. So, I was stunned and hurt at how callus Karen when she denied me (in her words: NO EXCEPTIONS and NO SPECIAL accommodations) the use unexpired voucher for free visit for an newly adopted pet from the end of last year.

The kicker: I was the one who told them of my situation and that the voucher had no expiration date because the Animal Shelter told me they were closed to COVID for this type of visit due to COVID

If she is comfortable with being abrasive with humans, how is she

This review is long overdue, but definitely want to get it up to sing the praises of this amazing Vet Office.

The extra care and TLC shines as soon as you walk through the door and it does not stop. Thorough examinations and thoughtful advice, without any unnecessary procedures/costs to the customer (and your special friend).

I want to especially shout out Dr. Aimee Kimmel and her tireless approach to loving my cat and dog. She went above and beyond to ensure my difficult move from the mainland PNW to Hawaii. There's a lot of hoops to jump through that are time-sensitive in order to move

Sick dog and limited resources due to Covid-19 and they really worked hard to do the best for the dog and not add any tests that could maybe wait and be done later if not improving . In addition they threw in a free nail trim! Happy to say that the pup improved after an injection and one dose of medicine! So grateful they helped us and made accommodations for the current situation. I hope to make a donation to them in the future to maybe assist the next person that might need a little extra help. Excellent care with a side of compassion for all.

My little one was super sick, he had deep Pyoderma. The doctor was quick in establishing the cause and took utmost care to make sure the patient and the parents are well taken care of and well informed. My Saint Bernard is huge and they had to sedate him to get to the problem, they made sure he was comfortable and only let him out once his sedatives had worn off. His treatment is still going on and they respond to calls and make sure that he is up to date with his meds . For any future appointment I'm sure we would be taking both our boys here. Thanks

I have an older pup so even though I've only been in Seattle for a five months, we have been to EBAH several times. The staff is friendly and helpful. You feel that they truly care about the well being of your pet, which means everything to this crazy dog mom! I was referred to EBAH by close friends that have multiple pets and only had positive things to say about the staff and doctors.

I recommend everything about the Elliott Bay Animal Hospital . Their Vets, the assistants , the whole staff. They are all supportive and willing to answer any questions and ready to help at a moments notice. I… especially have to say their “front of the house staff” is exceptional. They all made the most sorrowful moments of our beloved Stevie passing Mar. 2018 as peaceful as that time can be. Up until then they took care of our 18 year old former feral cat Stevie & “us” in the best possible way. Today they continue to take care of our Minxee . A beautiful , little

I switched vets because of carelessness (my old vet forgot to call me after my dog's procedure was completed)...and I've been very pleased with EBAH so far! Friendly staff, comfortable seating (my dog loves the cushioned seats), and quick service. Happy to have found our new vet!

I've had mixed experiences at EBAH, but my visit with Dr. Barkley definitely deserves 5 stars. We adopted an eight-year-old Chihuahua back in November and she had some dramatic personality changes over the past few days, including shaking, inability/unwillingness to walk down any steps, and yapping/crying. I was able to get an appointment almost immediately and was seen on time.

I was extremely happy with the care given by Dr. Barkley. She gave a thorough examination to the dog and was very sweet and gentle with her. She would occasionally take a few seconds out of her exam time to hug

After having some mediocre to horrible experiences with random pet sitters on rover.com, I needed to find a reliable place to board my beloved corgi for a weekend that I was going to be out of town.

I opted to find a vet for boarding as my corgi has entered his senior years, and what better place than an animal hospital in case something (god forbid..) does actually happen to the poor fellow?

My boarding experience with Elliott Bay Animal Hospital was pretty smooth. My wait time wasn't too long plus my corgi loved all the vet techs and the vet also. Boarding drop off was a breeze and

My kitty & I are relatively new - so far, so good. The front desk & vet techs are helpful, pleasant & compassionate. There's parking, great hours (Saturday apts), and they've found slots to see us when a last minute urgency came up. They're great about accommodating my kitty's needs while she's in their care (keeping her by her carrier, within a crate away from dogs). Dr. Moore, our DVM is FABULOUS. Smart, takes time to succinctly explain things in terms I understand, & makes sure to answer any questions I have in person, phone or thru recep. Her bedside

Over 20 years providing the best medical care to my many dogs and cats! The best doctors and staff I have found and I have visited a number of local vets for foster animals. EBAH is the only vet where I can honestly say that I would see any of the Doctors on staff. I always know my fur kids are receiving the best care!

My wife and I had been clients there from 2011-2017 and changed only because we moved out of the area. The doctors are so knowledgeable; I felt comfortable with any of my 4 babies being in their care. Kayla, who works in the front office is a particular gem. Like a previous poster, these vets shared their humanity on what was one of the worst days of my life in October. My wife was in the hospital very ill with pneumonia and H1N1...I came home to check on the animals and noticed my beloved 17 year old Pumpkin cat breathing irregularly. I called them and told them I was coming in and they took me

Impressed every time! This is easily the best vet clinic I’ve ever dealt with. It’s not just one or two people either. Every person I’ve encountered has been professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Every. One. Front desk people, vet techs, vets, pharmacy people, office manager. This is a very well run practice too. AND their prices are better than any of the 7+ vets I’ve gone to in Seattle over 26 yrs.

My experience at Elliot Bay Animal Hospital was truly horrible. If you are looking for a vet who is calm, patient, aware of the dangers of overprescribing antibiotics, and actually seems to be working from a place of experience, do not go to this place.

Dr. Barkley evinced no sign that she has any experience with dogs. When she needed to examine my dog who was curled up under the exam table she actually started dragging him out by the leash rather than asking me to get him up for her. She did not address any of my questions about her diagnosis. She was impatient and dismissive. Any questions

What a great experience. Everyone from the start was super friendly. The Vet was fantastic, taking his time to answer all our questions without any rush at all. I felt really comfortable and that made my shy dog feel at ease as well.
Great place, 5 stars!

My last review said: "I am also thankful, having a medically complicated cat, that when I need to be out of town, I can board her at the hospital, knowing that she will receive her inhaled and oral medications as needed and they'd intervene in the middle of an asthma attack.. She will be a patient the rest of her life."

EBAH refused to take my cat in their boarding because of a billing issue while I was in the hospital near death. This was an emergency and a time of great stress for our family, especially my husband. They've always been there for our cat, so we just gave a

This was one of the most horrible experiences we have ever had with any vet - being pet owners since 1998. The staff over-charged us not once, not twice but 3 times. Also, they continually ordered unneeded test that almost killed one of our dogs. I have never had such an awful experience with any place in my life.

Be careful where you take your animals and make sure they are invested in you and your pet family, I personally felt they were in it for the money - period.
