The best gym in the area! The owner, Frank, always makes sure everything is in tip top shape and their lead trainer/manager Lance is the absolute best! He is so knowledgeable and has over 30+ years of fitness and training experience. I will never go anywhere else, I only trust Lance's expertise and guidance!

Positive: Quality
Level 1 Fitness is great! I was a member for over two years and always found the gym well-maintained and clean with available equipment and friendly staff. When I moved out of Philly, they waived their usual 30-day cancellation notice and the process was hassle-free. Definitely recommend Level 1 to anyone in Old City!

Level 1 Fitness is incredible! The gym is always very clean, there is amazing equipment and the staff is fantastic. I am relocating and did not give 30 day notice to cancel my membership and they waived all fees AND gave me access to the gym until I move. Truly fantastic service. Highly recommend to anyone in the old city area!

While I am sure the owner of this gym would love to have way more memberships, there's a perfect amount of gym members in this space. Plenty of workout space and access to use the equipment. I used to have to wait until members completed their sets to use the equipment and I never have to wait. Typically there are one to two other people in the gym MAX whenever I go in.
Very clean and lots of equipment options. As a residence of The National, having your gym right downstairs in your building is an amazing luxury. Never having to step outside or wear a jacket to the gym is amazing. I am going to

I have been a proud member of this Club since January 2009 and glad to say that, the owner, Frank Calandrino's fitness vision is nearly realized with his latest move to the North 2nd location! Long of North Bread Street (not Broad!), the facility boasts the same Kinesis training system past Olympians used in the Olympic village! The efficient layout, great staff, clean facility, fantastic location, and top-notch amenities have kept me coming back for years! Everyone should check out Olde City Philly's best kept secret! You won't leave nor stop coming through!

The owner Frank Calandrino is a diehard Trumpster. Fox news is always playing on the television. There are no women trainers who work here. The ones I know have found it to be too much of a toxic environment. Male trainers will just walk up to women while they are training and begin talking to them and most of them have their earphones on and have to take them off to hear their testosterone and misogynistic views of what they should do. I was told that I couldn't wear a tshirt because it bore a logo from another gym. He even went and got me a different shirt to put on. To be such a Trump supporters

Of all the gyms I've been to over the past 10 years (and I've been to a lot), Level 1 is, hands down, the best. Frank, the owner/manager, utilized a nice, open two-tier floor plan to incorporate sections of fitness equipment tailored to meet the goals of adult athletes of all ages and conditions. Quality weights. Quality people. Would highly recommend this gym to anyone in the city.

Absolutely love this gym! I always get an effective workout in. You don't have to stand around waiting for machines because it is never crowded. The place is always clean and offers clean towels to utilize during your workout. The gym is about ten years old but everything seems brand new and is in working order. The locker rooms are spotless and have showers in case you're on the go. Membership is fee is only slightly more than sweat but it's worth way more. No contract, no initiation fee, easily cancelled my membership because I'm moving. I'm really sad to have to leave

I am in Philadelphia for two weeks for week. I did research ahead of time to find a gym close to my hotel. I even called to make sure that the $15/ week was valid. I was told yes. When I arrived at the gym, there was no one at the desk, I waited from 10 minutes and still no one came. So I started to do a warm up. As soon as I saw someone go to the desk I went up to him to sign up for two weeks. He told me that the $15/week price was only if you purchase 6 weeks. For me to do two weeks it would be $100. All over the website it talks about no minimums or hidden fees. I was obviously upset and he

I can only speak about the weekly Kettlebell class that I have been taking on Tuesday mornings with Rachel. It is at 9:30, which works well with my child's preschool schedule. The Kettlebell class is at their studio on 2nd street.
The class is hard but very good. Rachel is great and really pushes us.
After just 8 weeks I am seeing much more tone in my legs and gluteus thanks to Kettlebells. The class includes high intensity interval training, weights, trx, and mat work.

When I moved to this area, one of my goals was to work on getting in shape. It meant that all the stars needed to be aligned. The price had to be right, it had to be open early enough in the morning, and it had to be in walking distance (3 stars, get it?).
Level 1 Fitness meets all the criteria. The gym is small, clean, and has great machines, including the Kinesis system which is really cool.
Enter my trainer, Kanika Looby, to kick it up to another level(now up to 4 stars). She's the right trainer for me because she has a physical therapy background, so form is very important to her
