The BPM community also makes me feel accepted. For years, I've struggled with anxiety and never felt like I was good enough. That I could never be an athlete or look a certain "perfect" way that I built up in my mind. Since starting at BPM, my self-confidence is higher and I feel better about myself (inside and out!).
This is a combination of the effective workouts and the motivation that I get from the coaches. No amount of therapy has worked as well as coming to BPM! The workouts are constantly shifting and evolving so it's impossible to develop muscle memory or mental fatigue with the different routines. I honestly don't know where I'd be without BPM.

Services
At BPM, we offer three different formats of classes: 45 Minutes of Indoor, Power Based Cycling, 45 Minutes of full body and dynamic strength training, and 60-minute combination classes that bring you the best of both. Our classes primarily use Kettlebells and TRX Straps, but we incorporate other modalities to keep you on your toes!
The BPM Experience, founded by Shoshana Katz, was designed from the desire to create the best and most high-powered workout in Philadelphia. In 2010 Shoshana started working in the fitness industry as a cycling instructor and soon became one of Philly's top coaches. During this time, she expanded her knowledge and education by becoming an A.C.E.
We provide both towels for you to use while you're taking class and shower towels if you need them to freshen up after! We have 2 showers in the ladies room and 2 showers in the men's room along with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, disposal razors, and everything else you need to get ready for your day or night!
Shoshana got her start at the age of 2 when her parents tossed her onto a gymnastics mat. Fourteen years and multiple shoulder, lower back, and knee injuries later, she called it quits to focus on her other love; performing. Shoshana went on to major in Musical Theatre in college, receiving her BFA from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Growing up, Ella's identity was an athlete. As a softball, basketball and soccer player, Ella thrived off of the support she felt from her team and the inner drive she felt from competing. When she left for college, Ella lost much of her identity as a competitive athlete, and had to find other exercise routines, filling her time running, lifting, and rowing on the University of San Diego Crew team.

BPM has great instructors, great facilities and well rounded workouts. The team here is always working to keep the workouts fresh with new and unique exercises. The gym is well equipped with all top of the line gear which can be hard to find in Philly and really helps you get the most out of your workout. I highly recommend BPM for all levels of fitness training from beginners to advanced.

Thank you so much Sho and your entire team at BPM Fitness! At this point, after 15 years of living in Philadelphia, being a member and marketing consultant for many, many local gyms, boutique fitness studios, big chain gyms, Peloton and Nike Training Club online, and just about anywhere in Philly that I can clip in, I always, always, always come back to you and your team. Thank you so much for having on-demand classes and making it so affordable for us during the Covid shut downs. Thank you for creating an environment where positive change happens, not just in body, but also in spirit and confidence

Shoshana is the best fitness instructor I have ever had, so inspirational and so entertaining. She has started a very cool and personable studio. Since I moved out of the city, I was excited to see her studio recently offering online and on demand classes which I'd recommend to anyone, wherever you live. I love that the workouts are adaptable to whatever equipment you have at home and whatever level you're working at. And even though they're online you feel like you're right there with her because she has such a great personality. Amazing all around!

I loved my first workout with BPM and Missy! To be honest, when I used to do track in college we'd occasionally have cycling workouts and I really hated them. It wasn't a "spin" class per se, but I just remember being not super engaged and dreading bike days.
After having a friend highly recommended BPM to me, I've totally and completely come around to a spin class. Your butt does hurt a bit at first but you get used to it and wow was I challenged and feeling super good afterwards.
What I loved about this workout class is the competitive option you have - when you

This was a very fun and challenging class. The class does a cardio portion on stationary bikes and then moves into a circuit room for strength. Both parts were hard, but I thought that the strength session felt rushed going through all the circuits and I never actually felt like my muscles were working super hard. The class was large for the studio space so we did a series of two different exercises for 5 stations but did not spend a lot of time on any of the moves. I would definitely go back and recommend if you are looking for an all around workout.

Great instructors, challenging workout! All of the instructors take the time to show you how to correctly do the workouts and give you modifications when needed. They all are certified so they have a lot of knowledge about fitness, which makes me feel comfortable! They are always getting new equipment and changing up workouts! Definitely check it out!

I am new to philly and was looking for a new type of workout. I've done spin for years but never trx.HOLY crap what a workout; the spin/trx/circuit style 50 minutes of death, really maximizes your time. The instructors are great and explain things well, especially being a newbie to TRX. The studio itself is well kept and bright! Would recommended to anyone looking to get in a seriously good workout

Best workout ever!!!!!! This place has it all: friendly (and knowledgeable) instructors, up-to-date equipment, clean studio, a dog! Seriously, it is a great workout! What I like about this studio is that they offer a variation of classes and have different class lengths as well (some are as short as 45 minutes) in case you need to get a workout in on a tight schedule. Also, they have some later classes which suits those of us that have long commutes (). A lot of studios or gyms I've tried only have classes at 5:30 pm, but each day there are multiple offerings Morning, afternoon and evening

After Yelp Fit Club and a Class Pass trial, it's fair to right a review.
I'm mixed on BPM. On one had, I love all the opportunities to spin and fancy technology. I hate doing total body stuff, so it's nice that they offer it as part of some classes to keep me accountable. I'd probably just spin all day, everyday if that was the option.
On the other hand, the technology may be too much. I found myself focusing heavily on the screens, instead of the workout. Maybe the multitasking comes with time. I won't tell you how many times my stuff got locked into the lockers and

I really enjoyed the combination of having both a cycling & TRX class mixed into one - it keeps the workout interesting & leaves you feeling it the next day (in the best possible way!)
Ella's energy throughout the entire class was incredible & kept me motivated up until the last repetition on the TRX bands.
I'd love to come back and try one of their TRX only classes!

Shoshana and the whole staff are awesome. I love the set up of the classes and the intensity. They do a good job modifying the exercises and also pushing you to your limit. I haven't been to class in a few weeks but I'll definitely be back soon! I had their 6 month bridal engagement package and it was a good deal.

I love this studio. The combo of intense spin and strength training is like a dream come true, and it really brings a great addition to a neighborhood that is still relatively underserved when it comes to fitness. The instructors are all amazing - they really bring their own personality to the classes. These are definitely the most challenging 25 minutes I have ever spent on a spin bike! (You get emailed your stats too!) They have first class free, and an awesome 5 for $50 deal after that for new clients. There are showers and the bathrooms are fully stocked with anything you'd need. I haven't felt this good after working out in a long time and I'm so glad I decided to try out BPM Fitness today!
The studio looked and felt clean and new, and I appreciated all the little extra things they provide such as hair ties/Bobby pins, mints, tampons, even razors, etc.
The class was split up into 30 minutes of spin (cycling) and 30 minutes of TRX, a combination of circuit training and using the suspension ropes. I've done both spin classes and TRX before, but I can definitely see how it could be a little challenging to follow along for a first timer.

TRX and BIKE, a match made in heaven!
You want to get your A$$ kicked!!!?!!! You have to try BPM Fitness. I don't often use the bike as part of workout, BUT BPM fitness has these new bikes that are pretty amazing and you truly control your workout - low/mid/high intensity. My instructor Shannon really made me fell comfortable throughout the session, full of energy and encouraging without shouting at you! So BPM fitness uses the TRX as part of their strength training part of the workout - love it or hate it, the TRX session was pretty awesome, using your body weight is pretty hard! The facility

Really pristine fitness studio. From the men/women changing rooms, to the rear spin studio, to the front TRX room, it's top of the line equipment and super clean.
Also love the location, as BPM definitely fills a void for high intensity group fitness in Fairmount/Spring Garden.
Shoshana brought a lot of enthusiasm and clearly knows her craft. You will leave in a mess of sweat.
Looking forward to returning, especially with the 5 classes/$50 promo offer.

Note: classes were taken during soft opening
Vibes: laid-back, friendly, accepting of all levels of fitness
The workout (I tried BPM Fit):
-25 minutes spinning, 25 minutes TRX
-Spin bikes have pedals that allow for gym or spin shoes
-Spinning is guided by rpm, less about following the music beat and specific changes in resistance
-TRX exercises and possible modifications are quickly demo-ed at the beginning of the session
-Daily challenge with partner near the end of TRX session makes for an encouraging and fun atmosphere when everyone's tired
Noteworthy:
-They offer spin or TRX only classes

I took the BPM fit class which consists of 30 minutes spinning and 30 minutes with the TRX straps. I should start off by saying I've been spoiled at Flywheel, so the spinning portion was a bit disappointing. The pedals offer cages or you can clip in. There are 2 TVs on the wall to show your performance but the information is difficult to understand so I wish that was explained at the beginning of the class. It was also difficult to understand how much resistance should be on bike. "Turn the knob" doesn't tell me how much resistance I should be adding.
