I have provided some information throughout this site to introduce myself to you and to give you a sense of my therapeutic style of practice. Sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to find the right therapist, especially when you may not be feeling your best, so it is my hope that my website will help answer some questions you may have.

As a warm, caring, and interactive therapist, my treatment approach is to provide support with insight and feedback to help you address current challenges or long-standing issues. With sensitivity and compassion, I will help you explore the issues that bring you to therapy with the hope of developing a greater understanding and resolution to these challenges.
Services
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified EMDR Therapist, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional providing individual therapy in private practice in San Rafael, CA. I earned a B.S. degree in Individual and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University and a M.S. degree in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and was developed by psychologist Francine Shapiro in 1987. It has been extensively researched and empirically proven to be an effective treatment for PTSD by the U.S. Department of Defense, the American Psychological Association, World Health Organization, and the American Psychiatric Association.
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in understanding how medications for mood disorders interact with the body and other medications you may be taking. Some psychiatrists may provide occasional therapy but they primarily provide medication. Psychologists are doctors who specialize in understanding mental health.
I do not take insurance, but if your insurance allows you to use Out of Network providers, I will provide you with a monthly Superbill for you to turn in for reimbursement. Depending on your health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.
