When catastrophic events take people to their knees, trauma therapy can alleviate suffering. My approach is a blend of time-tested, intuitively grounded guidance, respect for people's natural and cultural ways toward healing, and research-based techniques. I also provide general psychotherapy at times of other life transitions, to assist teens and adults in finding their path to move forward.
And I provide consultation to individuals and groups, in order to further our collective skills in responding to trauma and fostering resilience. I have a special interest in serving people who have traditionally been under-served in therapy, including people from US-born ethnic communities, refugees and immigrants, survivors of military sexual trauma and queer/questioning teens and adults.

What is Trauma-Specific Therapy? People have incredible strengths in the face of such disaster, but at times it is too much - even for very capable people - to heal on their own. Not every therapist uses the same approach; I'm utilize a number of therapies including Prolonged Exposure and Narrative Exposure Therapy, always in the context of solid general psychotherapy and anti-oppression framework.
I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor in the State of Washington. Preference given to therapists who have a passion for working with highly traumatized clients. Vibrant monthly Clinical Case Consult Group regarding trauma clients. This is a small, clinically-focused group for Masters-level therapists which accepts new members each Fall.
PLEASE NOTE: I am no longer providing trainings for the foreseeable future. As our world has been rocked by multiple pandemics, it has given me pause to reflect on my practice. And I've realized that I must center the emotional health needs of my clients above other pursuits, and remain closer to home for my own sustainability.
I have been fortunate enough to love the work I do, and do the work I love for over 35 years. In addition, I provide consultation to other therapists and agencies, particularly in trauma-specific therapy and how to remain resilient in the field over time.
I spent much of my early career working in a variety of counseling agencies, including 12 years with Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress, where I refined my clinical judgment, coordinated the Traumatic Stress program, and built lasting relationships with communities around Washington State.
