Services
The popular restaurant is a Marin favorite, where locals meet with family or friends but not only by its loyal clientele of Novatoans, but with customers from all over Marin and Sonoma Counties. Las Guitarras De Novato Mexican Restaurant provides a family dining atmosphere and is known for its savory variety of traditional and authentic home-style meals while creating an inviting ambiance.
My mother Elena and my step-father Roga Pantoja began the Las Guitarras tradition in 1973 in the Mission District of San Francisco. Roga who always loved my mom's cooking told her that they should open a restaurant. Their dream became a reality when they opened the first Las Guitarras on Mission and 23rd Street.

It had been 2 yrs since I'd eaten here, but I recently found myself in the area and decided to stop by. What a massive disappointment.
The chips were cold and appeared right out of a bag. Only one salsa (used to be two) and it was bland and spiceless.
I ordered Mole Poblano (chicken), something I had enjoyed here many many times in the past. It was just terrible. The "chicken breast" was actually shredded, probably to disguise it was half a breast if that. The rice was cold and barely edible, some uncooked. But the biggest disappointment was the mole sauce. Nothing more than sweet, bland, watered

The food was good but the service was horrible. We had to ask multiple times for everything. The waiter took a half hour break without saying anything and only came back when we asked the busboy for help with an attitude of “what do you want?” When we got the bill it was inflated-they tried to cheat us.

My wife and I came to Las Guitarras at 8:10pm on a Saturday night. As we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a man who just stared at us. I asked if we could have a table and he said ok, but that they close in two minutes. I said that on their website it stated that the restaurant was open until 9pm (the restaurant was well over half full at this time). He then asked do you want to sit inside or outside? He brought us to a table inside, dropped the menus on the table and walked away. As we look at the menu, he came back to our table, stood there saying nothing, and finally left. He came

I am a vegetarian and very picky about the food I eat. I ordered the Supreme nachos with black beans and was pleasantly surprised to find out they do not use lard but only vegetable oil. That definitely made my sensitive body happy. Being a chip lover, I always look for good thick authentic chip and that's exactly what they have here! I ate a whole basket to myself + the chips that were included in the nachos. And can we talk about dessert? We (daughter and I) were surprised when a large bowl of delicious vanilla ice cream and 4 churros arrived which were absolutely delicious. Aside of the food
