Seneca Animal Hospital is proud to serve Louisville, KY and the surrounding areas. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of veterinary medicine along with friendly, compassionate service. Richard Riney opened the practice in 1987 and has been serving the community ever since then. In June of 2018.
At Seneca Animal Hospital, we offer a variety of services to care for your pet. If you have any questions or would like more information on how we can care for your pet, please contact us today. Our staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible.
Dr. Shumaker graduated from Oregon State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Prior to her veterinary career, this Louisville native attended Mercy Academy and obtained her undergraduate degree from Georgetown College, and her master's degree in psychology from Xavier University. She has a special interest in preventative medicine and dentistry.
At Seneca Animal Hospital, we believe in nurturing the human-animal bond and creating a harmonious relationship between people and animals. You can expect to be greeted by a courteous receptionist, clean exam rooms, friendly doctors, and caring technicians. We appreciate the role we get to play in your pet's health care.
Pet insurance pays, partly or in total, for veterinary treatment of the insured person's ill or injured pet. Some policies will pay out when the pet dies, or if it is lost or stolen. As veterinary medicine is increasingly employing expensive medical techniques and drugs, and owners have higher expectations for their pet's health care and standard of living than previously, the market for pet insurance has increased.

I’ve been taking my animals to Seneca animal hospital for over 10 years. They are always friendly, professional and reasonably priced. I always get appointments when I want them and they can accommodate appointments around my work schedule. The vets always spend time talking to me about my animals and I leave feeling like I know the best way to care for my pets. The office staff is helpful and friendly! I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else!

I brought two small dogs for their annual checkup and shots. One had an ear infection. They presented me with an invoice for $276, which I paid. Two days later, I saw that $713 had been debited from my account. I called Seneca to check on it and was told that the invoice for $276 was for one dog, and the $713 charge was correct. I complained politely that $713 was outrageous and then went on my merry way. Five minutes later the manager called back and gave me a whole list of reasons why the mixup was my fault. First, she stated that I was never given an invoice for $276. Hello, I'm looking at it

I absolutely love Seneca Animal Hospital! I've been taking my cat there since I got him and it has been great. The team is great, clearly passionate about pets, and always works with me and my schedule to get Salem in. They are also super responsive! Yesterday I emailed them around 4:30 asking a question about Salem and if I needed to bring him in. Within 1.5 hours they had responded with guidance and great advice!

I love bringing my dog here. She is very anxious and nervous about most things but comes in and leaves Seneca with a wagging tail. She receives the absolute best care here and I feel confident in saying that. The vet I spoke with (Dr. Hayes maybe) kept saying things like “this is what I do with my animals” and that is very comforting to hear. My dog had to be sedated and after they made a bed for her with a pillow so she would be comfortable. That’s the type of care we receive that has already made me a lifelong customer after just a couple visits. All my future animals will be seen here

I have been taking my pets to Seneca for about 20 years. They always provide kind, professional and attentive veterinary services. When I need an appointment urgently they always do their best to get my fur babies in there quickly. For routine appointments/exams/vaccinations etc they are thorough and not over priced. I would recommend them to anyone who values the care that their furry family members receive. They cared for my previous two shih tzu’s before they passed away from very old age and they now care for my two year old pair of shih tzu’s. Through out the lifespan of my pets lives
