Postpartum depression is real and scary for many new mothers, but it doesn't always start after birth. Women can have anxiety and/or depression while pregnant or trying to conceive. I work with women suffering from perinatal mood disorders ( depression/anxiety before, during, and/or after birth). Sometimes the conception process can bring up a variety of unexpected emotions, especially if things do not progress as planned.
