Services
In 2011, Dr. Laura Downie purchased Redstone Animal Hospital starting out as a single doctor practice. Now Redstone proudly serves the Littleton, Highlands Ranch, and Roxborough areas with five doctors caring for our community as well as local shelter pets. Commitment to remaining an independent veterinary practice and not selling to a corporate entity.
I am a Colorado native and graduated from CSU in 2003. After vet school, I was eager to see something new and ended up doing an internship and working in a busy practice in New York City. I became accustomed to working 6 day weeks, and feeling the drive to pay off some of my school debts- I worked longer hours than I probably should have.
At Redstone Animal Hospital, we believe that your pet is a part of the family, yours and ours. That is why we have made it our mission to provide comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care and that is in the best interests of you and your furriest family member. If you are in the Highlands Ranch area, and are looking for a caring veterinary team to help make sure your pet remains in good health, we are nearby and ready to help.
Since 2011, the veterinarians and support staff at Redstone Animal Hospital have sought to achieve the highest standards of veterinary medicine. We feel that cats are part of the family, yours and ours. Our clients' response to the care we provide is the strongest testament to the quality of care we provide for their cats.
Getting a new kitten is a very special experience with lots of joy, warmth and laughter. There is a reason why the internet is so full of kitten and cat pictures and videos. Kittens are super fun, loving and entertaining. Kitten care does involve some amount of hands-on attention from human family members.

First of all, the reviews below claiming that Dr. Downie's practice is just in it for the money are misguided.
Redstone and Dr. Downie was our vet practice when we lived in Highlands Ranch and we never once felt that we had been over charged and the care that our dogs received was always compassionate, appropriate and delivered with technical expertise.
Dr. Downie has "that extra scoop of special" and she had arrangements for another vet specializing in acupuncture that helped our senior pups' mobility and flexibility.
We recommend Redstone unreservedly.

I had an awful experience with Redstone while my senior (16 year old) cat was under anesthesia for a dental extraction. A tech used bandage scissors to remove his IV line, and accidentally cut him, but it required extensive stitches on his front arm to mend. They initially tried to charge me for an expensive collar on checkout so he wouldn't lick… the wound. It is about 4 months later, and he still limps severely after that and it would appear to be permanent now (he never had walking issues before undergoing the anesthesia).

I have an elderly dog with kidney and liver issues who needs to have regular vet visits. The last two times I went in I was sent home with a bowl and syringe to collect pee and fecal samples. Both times after taking my dog back for under 10 minutes to exam him they told me they were unable to collect a sample on their own.
My dog is 10 we’ve been… going to vets for 10 years I’ve never had a vet tell me that they were not able to get the sample, now it’s been the last 2 times. They are in a rush and care more about the money and don’t want to do the work.

My kitties have been seen by Dr. Downie and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Downie was very thorough and took the time to listen to my concerns. After her examination of Willow she told me she was fine.
I saw a bad review from someone who had taken their Doberman to someone else to have its ears cropped (which she conveniently left out of her review) and then brought him to Redstone. She complained that at Redstone they didn't remove all of the sutures. If you read the response from Redstone you will see what actually happened. Anyone who does something so cruel as to crop an animals

We have been with Redstone for 10+ years. They have always been exceptional with the care for our animals. Yesterday at 12:50 on a Saturday (they close at 1), we had an emergency with our 13 year old dog. He was hemorrhaging from his nose and struggling to breath. They just said bring him over. They took him in right away and treated him. Called me… every 15 minutes giving updates. We thought it may be the last time we saw our guy. Luckily he was able to come home. This is the level of care we've received over the years. They have been great when we've said goodbye and when introducing new

One week in the care of a skilled vet at Rox Paws and the rescued cat with massive burns is healing. 8 weeks with Redstone doing the same thing week after week actually making our cat worse caused needless suffering for the cat and expensive bills for our non profit animal rescue. Steer Clear of the clinic, piss poor management.
Responding to Redstone "justification"
First off we were never rude to anyone at you business.
Secondly if we were doing something wrong as you accused us of, then why with the new vet, she started to recover almost immediately, still in our daily care?

I have been in Colorado for 8 years and have had one hell of a time finding a Vet. I have only gone here 4-5 times and they have always been professional and so very kind to my 2 four-legged-kids. They are always fair on cost and never seem to "over push" extras for an added dollar. 100% fair pricing! I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Carly Starnes regarding our 15 year old lab. She was receptive, kind and delicate in how she handled the delicate situation. When asked about some holistic supplementation she let me know she would look into it and get back. Only days later she sent

I've been going to Redstone for several years and they have always taken the best care of my own dogs and the dogs I foster. today I was especially grateful to have such an extraordinary team of veterinarian professionals because I am home recovering from coronavirus and one of my dogs became ill and I was happy to find that Redstone had set up a… way to do video consultations and my dog was able to get prescribed the medications he needs and a friend can pick them up and bring them to me. Even during these incredibly tough times the amazing staff is looking out for my pets! I cannot thank

Took the best care of my girl when she went in for surgery for her torn ACL! She’s no longer afraid of the vet! They were also happy to look up medication prices on chewy and compare them for us. All of her meds were only a few dollars to have them there for us to pick up after her surgery. Excellent staff- very friendly!

Do not go to this vet! We took one of our dogs who has chronic allergies and we noticed her allergies were only getting worse. So we took her to another vet and found out that they were only giving her a third of the dose she actually needed and charging more for the medicine. At the new vet they gave her the right dose for less money. Redstone also continuously ran tests on her that were unnecessary without asking and shared tons of money. This vet does not care about your pet they only care about making money. If you love your fur baby go somewhere else.

They took such great care of my little 1.4 lb Pomeranian, Gianni, when he had a hypoglycemic episode. I cannot say enough good things about them. I am eternally grateful. They were also amazing with my previous Pom Harry who they helped keep comfortable and in his senior years and lived to be 18 1/2 years old.

Waited over 20 minutes past appt time before finally asking desk when we'd be seen. Another 10 minutes and then team did not communicate well with each other or with me. Two different vet techs and Dr all involved in treatment and weren't aware of what each other were doing - they told me we were done and could go but while we were checking out, another person came and said blood was drawn but shots weren't given. Horrible 1st impression - we won't be back.

These guys have been amazing so far. We were over at Annies before they became ban field and Annies was great. Banfield not so much. It didn't take long for them to start suggesting their plans which are overpriced for their inexperience doctors most of which graduate from Banfield university. Their front staff seems unengaged and just seems to do what they're told. It is a training issue for sure. Either way our dog really hurt her leg and Banfield couldn't get us in, I called Redstone and they were fantastic. Got us in next day they even texted me and called just to find out how

Went for annual checkup to reboost vaccines and assessment for teeth cleaning for my dog. I was very impressed by their reasonable prices (I have NEVER walked out of a vet with a bill this low) and that the vet didn't try to sell us everything under the sun. She was very straightforward and honest in her recommendations. We were really considering a teeth cleaning she told us it wasn't necessary to send that kind of money ($500-1000 yikes!), just brush. My jaw almost dropped, she didn't want my money?! On top of that she was so patient with my list of questions and very willing to

We have taken our pets to Redstone since moving to CO last summer. Over the past week, we have had one major cat emergency requiring a two night hospitalization and our dog hurt his claw which required a Saturday visit. As a result, we have received care from 3 different vets and many office staff. Everyone has been compassionate, patient with our many and varied questions, and provided solid information concerning our options. I have full confidence that we have found a veterinarian practice we can fully count on. Our pets are well on the road to recovery as well.

Redstone has been GREAT with my Labradoodle. We were searching for a new vet closer to home, and have found THE place. Our girl was spayed a few days ago, and not only did they call to check in on her the next day, but we just went in for a check-up (due to some incision bleeding) and they were friendly, thorough and did not charge us for the visit.
I appreciate always being able to get our pup in right away, and appreciate their patience with my numerous questions (and they don't ever make me feel stupid for asking). And, surprisingly, our Doodle doesn't hesitate to rush right into

First time I went here everyone was great. Made an appointment to come back when my dog was not well. When I was on my way there I hit a lot of traffic so I called to let them know. They told me I was fine and to come in. When I got there, I was turned away and told that I was too late. I was very frustrated Bc I called in to make sure it was fine. I had driven all the away across town to come here and not only was the person at the front rude, they didn't care that my dog was not well and said to come Monday. Luckily I found another place and was able to get my dog seen.

Took a lot of time examining our dog
Friendly, knowledable and efficient staff
Our dog is over 120 lbs with trouble walking
Two staff brought a gurney to our car and lifted her on it and wheeled her in for appointment, after appointment rolled her back to car. I call that service!
We will be transferring all of our animals to Redstone!

I am impressed. I moved both my great danes over to this vet after leaving Deer Creek. We were neglected under Deer Creek's care and I didn't know the level of care so so poor until we moved over to Redstone and were handled so differently.
