Coal Mine Animal Hospital has been your local animal hospital in Littleton, Colorado since 2006. We are also proud to serve the surrounding communities, providing veterinary care to Columbine, Centennial, Englewood, Bow Mar, and more! Our animal hospital was founded by Littleton area veterinarians Dr. Jill Levy and Dr. Erica Runkle who worked together at another veterinary hospital for three years before opening Coal Mine Animal Hospital.
Coal Mine Animal Hospital is more than a veterinary care clinic; we are also a full-service hospital. We provide hospitalization for pets that need IV fluids and medications-including injectable medications-rest, and specialized treatments. We also provide heated hospital cages, as needed, for our patients' comfort.
The veterinarians of Coal Mine Animal Hospital-Dr. Runkle and Dr. Levy-are both qualified dental care providers, with advanced training from a specialist. We provide advanced Cat and Dog Teeth Cleaning at our practice in Littleton, CO, in addition to traditional dental care. We believe that at-home dog and cat teeth cleaning is nearly as important as professional dental care.
At Coal Mine Animal Hospital, we provide a well-equipped surgical room designated just for pet surgery. We use our facility to perform a variety of surgeries, including routine procedures like spays and neuters, all soft-tissue surgeries, and more advanced surgeries like orthopedic procedures, for which we bring in a board certified pet surgeon so that your pet can have their procedure completed right at our hospital.
The team at Coal Mine Animal Hospital is proud to provide comprehensive puppy and kitten veterinary care to the Littleton area! When your new puppy or kitten is brought in for their first visit to Coal Mine Animal Hospital, you can expect to be educated about your pet's needs!
We will provide an initial health examination, checking for any health concerns, and we'll discuss the importance of behavioral training, vaccinations, microchipping, fecal parasite checks, and deworming, administering all that are needed. For kittens, we will test for feline leukemia and FIV. Coal Mine Animal Hospital is beyond fantastic. We have brought our dog there since she was a puppy and have only had the most wonderful experiences. The team here goes above and beyond to ensure our questions and concerns are addressed. They are understanding, supportive and incredibly kind. We recently moved away from Littleton and we still drive 3 hours (yes, 3 hours!) to have our dog seen here because we adore and trust this team so much. Recently, we brought our pup in who was very anxious and stressed. She was scared and not cooperating. Dr. Llewellyn and the wonderful tech (I believe her

I have 4 sugar gliders (we use to have 5) and I've been to a lot of exotic vets within 2 hours of lakewood. Dr.R is the first vet that doesn't want to empty my wallet. She's very Thorough most vets want to put them under to do blood work for EVERYTHING but not Dr.R she knows that it's extremely hard on thier little bodies to do that all the time (and we don't like putting them under since that's how we lost 1 at another vet)
Dr.R is also vet honestly and up front if she's not sure about something she'll figure it out. I've never really met a vet like her honestly (and I worked in a vets office

We've been taking all of our animals to Coal Mine for over 3 years now. Cats and dogs. You can tell the doctors and staff sincerely care about your pet's well-being. Our dogs are always excited to see everyone. It may have something to do with the peanut butter.

We've been taking our dogs here for a year now, but today I had the best experience and had to leave a review. One of our dogs gets very anxious at the vet and won't let anyone touch him to complete the exam. The staff was very kind and patient about it - and we eventually got his exam completed! All of the employees I've come across are super sweet and responsive. Definitely recommend!

I would like to start by saying I absolutely love Dr. Brummel and the vet tech staff that assisted her with me in my visit today. She has consistently been very clear with answering any of my questions and displays a great sense of both knowledge and empathy and my dog loves her. In spite of having a happy and healthy dog, I unfortunately walked out of there with a very bitter taste in my mouth. While I generally don't expect much from humans, the front desk staff has been far less than competent or kind. Because I am on a limited budget due to disability, I called in the beginning of the month

We really can't speak highly enough about Coal Mine Animal Hospital. The team really cares about the animals and their well being. The doctors are accessible. Thry are patient with all our questions, and if we get home and think of more questions, we can call and always get a call back from the doctor. When we go in for an exam with an issue, they come together as a team and they do not stop until the issue us sorted out. When our old cat was in his last month, Dr.Levy was happy to call us and discuss how we could make him more comfortable. We didn't have to haul him in and pay additional fees

The amazing staff was very accommodating for both of my dogs first visit especially my youngest dog who is a bit shy. The vet tech had treats and peanut butter to distract the dogs while getting shots. The veterinarian was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining things so that I could easily understand. Definitely recommend for any pet owners not just dogs

From the start, the team at Coal Mine offered time and expertise to answer all of our questions and made us confident that our puppy would receive the care she needed. Consulted with the veterinarian, had her spayed and received follow up contact to ensure she was recovering properly. We’ve changed our animal care to Coal Mine as a result of our experience.
