Every student is required to wear a mask while in the building per City of Denver regulations. The schedule has been restructured to allow 15 minutes between classes to prevent overlap in the lobby and dressing room of students from 2 classes. Please use the disinfecting wipes to wipe down your machine, straps, mat, sponge, and elastics before you start class.
Please use the disinfectant spray and paper towels to wipe down any surface you touch when using the restroom. If paying in cash, please bring in exact change, place it in provided envelopes, and deposit the envelope in the tuition box. Welcome to Artistic Body Development, Central Denver's innovative Pilates-based exercise studio.

Artistic Body Development (ABD) is Denver's first and oldest Pilates studio, opening its doors in 1986 in the city's Golden Triangle. Since its founding, ABD has developed and sold two additional studios, and established its new flagship location in 2003 in the popular Baker Neighborhood.
Its story began years before 1986, however, when its founders, Michael Dailey and Andrea Bains, worked and danced together as ballet partners at Ballet Arts Center. It was during their time at this ballet studio that the owner, Larry Boyette, approached them to start a Pilates program for the other ballet students at the school.

A team of seasoned, passionate Pilates-based fitness instructors with a diverse background in exercise and dance. Their experience teaching classical and non-traditional Pilates techniques adds up to more years experience than we'd like to count. 2. A community. We cherish a relaxed but thriving atmosphere in our studio, and we strive to make our classes enjoyable and fun.
During the formative years of Artistic Body Development, Michael was teaching kinesiology in the dance department at Colorado College, where he encountered an array of injuries and physical problems experienced by the dancers.
He began looking at the causation of these problems (muscle weakness, tightness, imbalance, misuse, etc.) and developed new Pilates type exercises to mechanically correct the problems in a way that traditional Pilates could not.He called this new Pilates-based technique Myopatterning.

Artistic Body Development offers several different Pilates-based fitness group classes, as well as individual lessons. Each class is an entire body workout, with exercises that target different muscles from head to toe. Our group classes range from 5 to 15 students, which makes them small enough for the instructors to be able to work individually with students to perfect technique and form.
Call ABD to schedule today-your first class is free! Newcomers are always given extra instructor attention to ensure they are doing all of the exercises correctly and that they are comfortable. We want to make sure you have a good experience and want to come back! When you do, you'll find our rates are very affordable, and we have no long-term commitment contract to sign.

Excellent workout and top notch instructors! I do all sorts of workouts- Climbing, Spinning, Yoga, Pilates...and this place is awesome. It is a low impact, highly effective form of pilates that the instructors have honed and developed over the years. The proof is in the people who have been coming here for decades (in some cases), and they are in fantastic shape.

I have been going to Artistic Body for 18 years +/- and have loved every second! There is a friendly, relaxed environment but the skill and knowledge of the instructors and owners is unmatchable! Such a great accompaniment to my outdoor cardio sports! I wish there were more stars to check! Thank you ABD!

My husband has been attending the myopatterning classes for 20 years. He started at 50 and is now 70 and has retained his flexability and strength. It's great for your core muscles, and helps his golf game. I go when I can, and it's great for my legs and bum. The machines are spaced well apart and everyone is wearing covid masks and there is plenty of air movement, so I feel safe. Hopefully we can continue for a long time!

I cannot say enough great things about Artistic Body Development, between their amazing classes that triggers all areas of your body. These classes can be as challenging as you would like and can feel it in the class, however strangely enough, you are not sore when you leave. I've seen my body become more defined since starting classes August of this year. Michael (one of the instructors) brings incredible amount of knowledge unlike any other I've known in this field, with a sense of humor and levity as we all need during these crazy times.

As someone who isn't overly flexible, I was surprised at how much I have loved going to myopatterning. Now, I'd much rather go to ABD for class than stretch aimlessly on my own! Mike and Andrea are incredibly knowledgeable and provide highly useful adjustments. I always leave having learned something and feeling nicely stretched.

I can’t say enough about Mike and the rest of the ABD team. I have been going to this studio for years. The classes are challenging, but laid back. All of the instructors are great about helping you get the hang of an exercise and the most out of a stretch. Before I started going to ABD, I had back issues and a problem ankle that sprained whenever I rolled it. Since I started at ABD, those issues are gone. I have lost weight, feel stronger, and stand taller. And who doesn’t love a pilates studio with a house dog?
