At Blue Cross Animal Hospital we have an on site pharmacy for all your pets health and dietary needs. Our talented team of doctors recognizes it's essential that we get to know each pet and their owners so we can offer individualized plans for care or treatment. Services
Blue Cross Animal Hospital was established in the early 1930's by Dr. Vincent Robinson from Iowa. The original practice saw both small and large animals and was located in a house next door to where our current building stands. Dr. George Hartle, another Iowa State graduate, took over the practice after Dr. Robinson passed away.
No matter what stage of life your pet is in, we at Blue Cross Animal Hospital always strive to provide top quality pet care. We offer a wide range of services that help enable our staff to provide each pet with the best care possible.

Wellness Care - We offer annual physical examinations which give our doctors the opportunity to perform a thorough physical exam as well as to discuss your pet's overall health and address any questions or concerns you may have.Preventative Care - Our staff understands that no pet is the same and because of this, we offer individualized vaccine programs to each patient, depending on their risk of exposure to disease.
Beth has been part of the Blue Cross Family for over 18 years. Her experience working here has taught her so much; she values and admires everyone she's been privileged to work with over the years. Beth's favorite part about being at Blue Cross Animal Hospital is being able to see all of the adorable puppies and kitties that visit us.

Pets today are able to live longer and healthier lives with the help of vaccines which can protect them from deadly infectious diseases. Some vaccines are considered "core" and should be administered to all pets, and other vaccines are recommended based on their risk of exposure to disease. Vaccine recommendations can also change throughout a pet's life, as their lifestyle, overall health, and other variables may change.

We took our kitten there recently to be neutered and the procedure was quick and working with the staff to arrange the curbside drop off/pick up for before and after was smooth! The vet called right after the surgery was completed to give an update on how it went

I took my dog to see vet Linnea Thiem and I really liked her. She empathized with me when I told her the issues that my dog have experienced. I am so happy that ever since then my dog has gotten better. Thank you so much Linnea!

I’m enraged right now by their horrible customer service. I was on time for my first appointment here, called as I was instructed to do when I arrived. 4 of my calls wouldn’t even ring, it just said this Verizon caller isn’t available the other 3 calls I made went to an automated message, I also was not able to leave a voicemail. I FINALLY get through ten minutes later to have them put me on hold for even longer…when I finally talk to someone they said I’m late and can’t see me now for my appointment. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is how you treat your customers? I just drove 30+ minutes

I've been taking all of my animals to Blue Cross for over 20 years. They have seen every Dr. there, and everyone has always been good to us. The office manager and staff are also great! I had an issue for the 1st time today, and it was dealt with quickly and very professionally. I appreciate them and all that they do 😊.

We had an emergency for one of our pets last week and over the weekend. We attempted getting an appointment and received the worst service we have ever experienced. We called several times and the staff were not very helpful. The first thing they said when we called was that they were scheduling two weeks out. They told us to call daily at 7:30 am… to see if an emergency appointment was available. We did that last Friday and again today. After a long hold today we were told no appointments were available. It is interesting that the recording on the hold stated “if your experiencing

Went on Tuesday to have my dogs annual physical. They made me wait in the hot parking lot and took my dog inside. They later took my dog out on the hot pavement and tried twice to draw her blood unsuccessfully. I got charged $57.00 for this malpractice. I will never go to that horrible place again

When I was a young single mother with three kids and two dogs and money was very tight, I called all the vets in South Minneapolis and asked for prices. Blue Cross was the winner and although I moved for affordability, I have stayed for decades because the service is exceptional. They never push unnecessary testing or procedures, really support their clients in making the right decision for them, and are always above and beyond supportive. They have seen us through puppies and dying dogs and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Been taking our animals there for 30 years...since the good docs and nurses all left and they hired the B squad, quality sure has gone downhill. We have been fosters for various rescues for years, and blue cross receptionist who answered the phone called us “bad pet owners” for fostering a puppy that has Parvo. Oh I’m sorry I picked a foster that… has parvo. Some nerve.Transferred our 3 dogs to Apache. Never again Blue Cross and your rude BS people. Maybe work on your customer service a bit more and you wouldn’t have so much turnover and rude employees.

What an awesome experience today. I took my bff Gonzo for issues. Even though I wasnt able to meet the vet in person (due to social diancing), I felt Dr. gave us a very thorough exam and very happy with the service. Outstanding!! we will be back with Sweet Pea!

The staff here are amazing! They truly love our pets and go above and beyond.
We are customers for life ever since Debra saved our dog from a very bad situation over a recent weekend during off hours. They really care, they didn’t bat an eye at giving him the extra care he needed. Now he’s back to being a happy pup and we couldn’t be more thankful to Blue Cross Animal Hospital.

We had 2 concerns over the past month - first a mass on our dog's leg and then an emergency visit because he was unable to put any weight on his back leg. In both situations, we were able to get him in quickly to be seen and had great communication with all the staff. Dr Deb is our go-to vet - she is compassionate, funny and a great communicator. The whole staff has been nothing but kind and understanding.

Above and beyond what I expected from a vet!
Blue Cross treated my cat over two weeks, multiple procedures, and 8+ days of vet-stays. The vets and staff were compassionate, kind, and professional, and they always made time to answer my many questions.
They repeatedly updated me on his condition when he was there, and called for multiple checkups… after I was able to take him home. I was given the time and attention I needed to feel confident in what was happening, and my cat was given better care than I expected.

We’re on our fourth dog, over a period of nearly 30 years, and I would never consider switching practices. The staff is wonderful; they truly care about your pet as though he or she were their own. We are big fans of Dr. Deb and all of the other professionals.
