Tri-Lakes Animal Emergency Care is open evenings and weekends for emergency vet care. No appointment is necessary, but it is helpful to let us know you are on your way by calling (719) 434-1118. We are here when your regular veterinarian is closed, as an after-hours resource, providing the same caring, compassionate approach for pets and their families.
While we are open and seeing patients, pet owners are not currently allowed in the building. For 24/7 emergency care, please visit our sister hospital, Powers Pet Emergency and Specialty. Our veterinarians and technicians are among the most experienced in emergency veterinary care in the Monument/Colorado Springs area.

Services
Tri-Lakes Animal Emergency Care is a locally owned after-hours emergency animal hospital, devoted to providing exceptional care for pets and their families in and around the Tri-Lakes region of southern Colorado. With state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, blood products, and a modern surgical suite, we are prepared and ready to help.
Dr. Wilwerding earned his DVM from Iowa State University in 1994 and has worked exclusively with companion animals throughout his career. He spent three years in Maine working with an orthopedic surgeon, and has continued to develop his orthopedic surgery skills, including such procedures as fracture repair and stifle stabilization (TPLO, Tightrope and extracapsular).
Thank you for your partnership. We appreciate the opportunity to assist your patients with after-hours emergency vet care. Please complete the online referral form or print and fax the form to us at (719) 434-1118. We will update you on your patient's status first thing in the morning where they will be referred back to you for follow-up care.
A full physical examination of your dog or cat is essential to their treatment at our emergency animal hospital. While an illness or injury itself might be obvious, understanding the underlying issues and how to treat them will facilitate a much better outcome for your pet. Our emergency vet in Colorado Springs takes a thorough approach to handling a wide variety of emergencies, from poisonings to broken bones and everything in between.
Keeping your pet comfortable during and after their treatment and/or surgery is important to us, and we know how important it is to you, too. In addition to causing stress in dogs and cats, pain can slow recovery and possibly lead to other health issues. Here at Tri-Lakes Animal Emergency Care, we provide multi-modal pain management solutions to meet the unique needs of our dog and cat patients.

We had a crisis w/ our rabbit and many vets in the area were completely booked. We were panicking and we weren't sure where to go. Tri-lakes was able to fit us in quickly. Our rabbit ended up having 2 visits in the same week. We had a care team w/ two amazing vet techs and Dr. Breden. They were SO compassionate and quick to respond. It was an incredibly scary time and we felt they knew exactly what to do. They took our calls and walked us through everything. We truly felt like they treated her kindly and saved her life. Prices were affordable and they were very transparent with us throughout the

We were referred to Tri-Lakes Animal Emergency Care by our primary veterinarian, Dr. Deturk when she was unable to get our fur baby in for an urgent health concern that developed suddenly. We were so lucky to meet and have Dr. Wilwerding and his wonderful staff! Dr. Wilwerding & staff were hands down the best thing that could have happened to our little family and fur baby. Dr. W. was so patient, knowledgeable, and willing to do whatever it took to help our little girl. My wife Ali and I could not be more grateful to T-L Animal Emerg. Care for caring for our little Grace so thoroughly and passionately

I can't say enough about this place!!! Dr McCall was very honest about my cat's condition and gave us many options with pros and cons of each. She never pushed, nor judged, us on our decision. Dr McCall and the techs were so compassionate and flexible with us. Thank you for all that you do! You all are amazing!

Definitely the place to go! Compassionate, expedient, and cares about your pocket book
After being ignored by Uintah Emergency Clinic for 45 minuted with no triage I called tri-lakes who said they could see my dog to atleast triage her. They got her in as soon as I arrived and took about 25 minutes to come out and give me good news. It was another bit before the vet came out but that was totally fine, the fact that they had compassion to come out and tell me they thought my dogs eye was fine where as Uintah couldn't even be bothered to triage her other than to say "that's not good".

They saw us very quickly, and both the techs and the veterinarian were very, very caring. We did have to later wait behind a triage of another pet that sadly had to be euthanized. But that is completely understandable. At the end of the appointment, the vet came out in the cold weather and showed us how to do physical therapy on our dachshund. We would highly recommend this office if your pet needs an ER.

Tri-Lakes Animal ER is a such an asset to our community! Our dog had an ear laceration and we needed to get him stitches ASAP. Kathy, the tech, and the attending Vet, were wonderful to work with. Both ladies were kind, patient and thorough with explaining the process during intake. Tucker was in and out in about 1.5 hours and that included sedation to fix the ear! They were affordable, despite being an ER facility! Grateful to have them so close-by! Would highly recommend!
