Services
Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital, formerly known as Mapleview Animal Clinic, was founded in 1965 by Dr. T. Robert Bashara. The practice was first located at 9015 Ohio Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Bashara worked as a single practitioner of veterinary medicine there until 1981 when he hired his first associate.
Our Gentle Doctor Animal Hospitals Pet Salon offers an individual grooming experience for your pet. We have customized bathing for your pet's skin and hair care needs. We use gentle, low temperature dryers. We tailor hair cuts and styling to your individual pet and your preferences. We offer ear hair removal, ear cleaning and nail trimming.
Unfortunately our offices cannot be open around the clock. In the event of an after-hours emergency, we refer our clients to VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center. This facility is fully staffed 24-hours a day and best equipped for service after our normal business hours and during holidays.

To meet that challenge, we have equipped our hospitals to handle almost every veterinary procedure -- from routine lab tests to emergency surgery. We process routine blood work, including heartworm tests, in house while you wait. Other tests are performed at an outside laboratory for the most comprehensive analysis and accurate results.

While I know that being 13 minutes late is completely my fault, as I’m adjusting to having a brand new puppy that I adopted not even 3 days ago and I’m also still working. I was shocked that they charge a $15 late fee. That would have been fine had the receptionist not been so rude, so while waiting for the vet to see my pup I called a vet my friend recommended to see if they allowed for grace period and if they charged a late fee, they did not. I left my appointment and scheduled with the other vet.

Staff was very sweet and appropriately friendly to my nervous little dog. The place was clean and functional with ample parking. Our doctor was very knowledgeable and helpful plus they asked before giving my little dog peanut butter to help him feel better about his treatment. I really appreciated the time and thoughtfulness they gave me and my dog on a busy afternoon.

They are so nice and sweet every time I come in with my dog Husker! Every so often I receive a magazine for dogs and at the end has details about his breed. They take the time to explain to me what is going on and give him the care he deserves. I don’t feel pushed and unwanted when coming in and I appreciate everyone!! Thank you all for loving my dog as much as I love him!

The groomer did a great job and my dog looks great. However, it cost way more than I was prepared for. I was told a dog the size of mine (by weight) would be $54, it ended up being $68 for the basic grooming. The groomer also added on a $10 handling fee, telling me that my dog was not socialized and it took her more time to groom her.
I understand that my dog does scare easily. She's a rescue and is not familiar with grooming, which was explained before the appointment. I'm not opposed to the extra fee, but I wish it would have been explained to me sometime during the day. I had my dog there by

We started with Gentle Doctor with Hershey. We got Hershey from the Humane Society so the first two times a staff member had to carry her in to have a checkup. The Doctor and all the staff were so welcoming to her that she started walking in on her own. We have even been able to board Hershey with Gentle Doctor on Maple Street. We have mostly taken… Hershey to the Maple Street Clinic because of construction at the Blondo clinic. Dr. Kanne has been particularly instrumental in helping us with Hershey's gastrointestinal issues and recent issues requiring meds as well. All the staff at these
