Johnny, the owner together with his wife and son who also works there are the best family owned repair shop I have ever been to in all my 60+ years of life. The service is what I can remember service once being like years ago. They do not gouge customers and do their best to have your vehicle done when they estimate it will be completed which is generally the same day if brought in early. They never take advantage or upsell customers and really have made it a much better place to come get your repairs since the past owner sold it to them a couple of years ago.

Wow what an Amazing shop!! New owners Johnny and Chanda I would give 6 stars if I could! I live near Lakeside and a lot of the shops weren't really interested in working on my brakes for my 59 Cadillac. I stumbled upon sunset garage from a few friends and Sunset Garage went beyond my expectations!! They are one of the nicest couples and honest. Johnny and Chanda took great care of my classic and were very thorough ,honest while taking the time to explain what was needed (new master cylinder rusted / needed to be rebuilt) and what was still good (most brake lines still in great shape). I had the best experience at Sunset Garage! I came in with my van to get a potential fluid leak looked at and they checked it out, tightened some bolts, and explained some things to me about my van (it's old, so it's a little quirky). They were super knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. I would definitely come back here, and would recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a mechanic.

I brought my 30 year old truck in for a full service everything went great. Explained the problems I was having and they figured it out right away order the part and now there are no more problems. He even changed my air filter as part of the service. Really appreciate the good service I will be going back for all my vehicle needs.

I highly recommend OB Sunset Garage. Jonny, Shaundra, and their experienced staff offer a wide variety of car services at a reasonable cost with the best level of customer service. This auto repair shop is under new management and the new owners are absolutely incredible. The care that they give their customers is unparalleled. I had my mirror smashed off and hanging from my car and when I went in they took their time to find a used part for me, saving me hundreds of dollars. They fixed the mirror temporarily and then found the exact mirror with the exact color to replace permanently. They were very kind and communicative through the whole process, making a lifelong customer out of me. I've recommenced friends gere and they also had a very positive experience. HIGHLY

I was in a small fender-bender a few weeks ago that completely dented in my left fender, dented my tire rim, left me with a flat tire, and dented in my left driver's door. I was fortunate to be able to drive the car after replacing it with my spare.
I checked out a few areas for estimates with a photo of my car. I knew that I wouldn't be able to receive an exact estimate without an actual inspection, but I didn't have the option to drive my car around in the state that it was in.

So I went to Auto Zone late on a Sunday to replace a broken tail light. As I was doing that, I noticed A LOT of coolant leaking from under my van. I panicked because it was a Sunday and I needed my van by Wednesday.
Johnny's shop, Sunset Garage, was a stone's throw from Auto Zone so I went there. Before I even got inside the office, the owners greeted me, immediately got under the van to see the problem, diagnosed it, and gave me a ball park price. Then he added some water to replace the lost coolant, which was enough to get me home safely. Then Johnny said I could bring it in at 9 am

We took our Chevy Tahoe 2001 into sunset garage for a routine oil change.. the place was so cute with 50s decor, Chanda and Johnny the owners are so nice, genuine and hard working. We got to talking and Johnny has been in the industry since he was 15 years old. They know what they're doing. Our oil change was quick, they went above and beyond. Took extra precautions with the corona virus. Not only was the service fantastic but the view can not be better. We will continue to see Chanda and Johnny and their awesome mechanics at Sunset garage!

The new owners at Sunset Garage, Jonny and Chandra, are really honest, hard-working, and competent. We've taken our cars to different places in San Diego, but I won't go anywhere else again. My car was leaking fluid from the transmission, the front struts were shot, and the air conditioning electrical panel was dead. The crew there figured out all the problems (in a day!!) and got EVERYTHING fixed. And it was very inexpensive. I had been thinking that the repair would be so expensive that I should probably sell it for junk and get a newer car, but I was back on the road in my car

My car had some vibrations and the shop was closed, Jonny was kind enough to let me come to the shop anyway so he could take a look. He hooked up the scanner to my car free of charge and read the fault codes (which most shops will charge for that diagnostic service). Great honest Garage! I needed my rack and pinion replaced, the steering rack on my truck. I already knew about how much it should cost. I called the shop and Woody answered, without hesitation he gave me the price over the phone, which was exactly what it should cost. I brought my truck and part I purchased over, and in a few hours he called me back that it was finished! Came back, paid exactly what he said it was, and they even boxed up the old part so I could ship it back and get my core refund! Will definitely use this garage again!
