I'm not sure how this place has 4.5 stars. The chicken makhani or butter chicken is white meat chicken diced up finely like cat food. The chicken tikki masala is the same sauce and same chicken but bigger chunks. Both were watery and just tasted like chicken broth. The chicken in both were dry. Super disappointing.

This place has gone downhill big time!! They no longer serve the complimentary crunchy bread with chutney, it was freezing inside (no heat), very little meat in the biryani and the lamb was so tough. Even the the classic chicken curry was a disappointment. To top it all off, HORRIBLE SERVICE!! No eye contact, no checking on us, slow service and an attitude to top it all off. Very disappointing!

Love this place! We just don't get here often enough. Came at 12 on a Thursday. Only about 4 other tables here. Sat immediately and quickly attended.
The food is freshly cooked and done in record time. Everything was delicious. Word to the wise though, the heat index is 1-5. We have cut back on heat because of medical recommendation, so I think we are more sensitive. Love it. Just can't any more. But we got a level 2 and my lips are still heated.

The food is excellent, the service is excellent but the portion of the protein to the ratio of rice and sauce to the $14-$15 dollar price is unfortunately why I am rating this place down to a 3 star. The food was good but a $100 bill and we walkout and headed over to grab a bk burger because the majority of us were still hungry.
So I recommend for the flavor and service - like many reviews on here I agree with
but I warn you to not go hungry unless you prefer mainly yummy sauce and rice for a large price - $14-$15 bucks.

Large restaurant with lots of seating. Went here on a weekday for dinner and there was no wait.
Started off with the vegetable samosas (5/5): those were good! Really crispy and the filling was flavorful. They gave a green sauce (don't remember what it's made of but more veggie tasting) and a tamarind sauce with it, and the tamarind sauce paired with it well.
Garlic Naan (5/5): great naan. Crispy and flavorful. 4 pieces per serving and they were as long as my hand.
Paneer Tikka Masala (3/5): this tikka masala didn't wow me. I've had paneer at other locations in SoCal and

I finally tried my first East Indian restaurant in Arizona! I lived in Yuba City, Ca. for 32yrs where there is a large East Indian population and where the largest Indian festival Diwali is held outside of India! So I am very familiar with Indian food. I ordered one of my favorite appetizers, Fish Pakora. It's great with beer. I was surprised when they brought the dish out. There were only six pieces. I'm used to a plate full of fish. To their credit, it was the best tasting Fish Pakora I tried. I just wish there were more. Then there was the Tandoori Chicken. It was prepared differently

The food was delightful. The staff is attentive and polite, willing to cater to your needs to the point of telling me to call the day we will be going to the restaurant, so he can make specialty food for me that is dairy free.
Be sure to try the Vegetable Pokora. I just love great ma and pop restaurants.

New India Gate is our go-to Indian place--it's consistently delicious, has large servings (always enough for leftovers), and good bang for your buck. The s/o always orders the chicken makhni, and I typically rotate between the different fish curries. We have tried most of their breads (naan, roti, paratha, puri, and bhatura)--nothing beats the naan.
Only reason why I'm not marking it a 5-star is because the service is slow (for to-go orders, at least)--and we've waited up to 30 minutes past their estimated pick-up time. I also wish their curries came with more rice, but I am a

Great food! Servers are kind, patient, very helpful. I recommend this place if you have never tried Indian food before because they will ask you what you like and give great recommendations. We had the place mostly to ourselves. It was well kept and mostly socially distanced. I tried the following and absolutely loved it all: vegetable korma, chicken korma, mushroom bhaji, vegetable assorted snacks, garlic naan, roti, and aloo paratha. I will definitely go back!
