In my counseling practice I work with individuals, couples, families, and stepfamilies to identify and address issues that are holding them back from living the life they desire. My office is located on the Eastside in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland, one block west of the 405. Nearby comunities include Bothell, Woodinville, Bellevue, Redmond and Juanita.

Going through difficult periods in life is part of the human experience, and it is natural to turn to family and friends for comfort and guidance. Fortunately, with the help of those who care about us and the passage of time, most difficulties get resolved. However, there are times when we may not feel comfortable revealing private details of our lives to family or friends, or we may not want our problems to burden them.

Effective therapy is all about understanding. I bring not only my experience and strengths as a therapist, but also a lifetime of personal and professional experience in many different realms. I leverage my real-world background together with my marriage and family therapy expertise to help understand and address your real-world issues.
Why does this seemingly simple statement seem to evoke an almost universal sense of dread in men who hear it? I believe at least part of the answer has to do with the discomfort most men have toward feeling vulnerable. A marriage and family counselor is much more than someone who works with married couples and families - I am here for you too. Few of us are an island. People seek individual counseling for many reasons: depression, anxiety, grief, loss, shame, trauma, low self-esteem, difficulty handling anger, and much more.
The relationships within any family are both complex and ever changing. Like a jigsaw puzzle, members of a family are interconnected in intricate ways. Because the demands of life, and we ourselves, change over time (particularly with regard to children), the way each person fits into the family is a state of constant flux.
A good book can be invaluable in gaining a fresh perspective, learning new skills, and dealing with troubling issues. The books listed on the page are among those that I most frequently reccomend to my clients. They range from the simple how-to variety to more in-depth explorations of the subject. A number of these books are available used at a substansial savings.
