Welcome to Coastal Pediatric, an innovative pediatric dental practice promoting oral health and wellness in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Jonathan Wong is a Dentist Anesthesiologist with extensive postgraduate hospital training in delivering dentistry, oral surgery, and anesthesia. He graduated with honors, receiving his Bachelor's of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Southern Illinois University.
Our office is both a dental home and a state of the art dental surgical facility located conveniently at the Halifax Building in Norfolk, VA. We are located directly across from Sentara Leigh Hospital at the I-264 and I-64 Interchange. This makes our office easily accessible from all over Hampton Roads, including Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, and Hampton.
Unlike most other dental practices, Coastal Pediatric Dental & Anesthesia was built with anesthesia at its core. From the beginning, Coastal Pediatric Dental & Anesthesia planned for anesthesia, building an outpatient dental surgical facility adhering to the standards of care for outpatient surgery and the Life Safety Code.

My son needed two teeth pulled, easy ……right. I had no idea the rigmarole I would go though between the array of estimates to the actual job getting done. After multiple tries I was willing to try anything at any cost. Finally a referral to Coastal. The service was first class and top notch. I even sent my husband in blind and he was treated with first class service. They have a customer for life or 18, lol.

Dr. Reynolds says she studied at VCU but I think she studied at Hogwarts because she is magical. My kid has high anxiety and hates shots most of all. She somehow managed to give him a shot in his gums without him even knowing there was a needle involved (he still doesn't know he got a shot). The whole staff is really great with kids. They take the time to explain everything they're doing and show them all the tools ahead of time and are really really good at making the kids at ease during the whole thing. I wish I could go there for my dental work but they told me I wouldn't fit in the chairs.

The staff, specifically Dr Reynolds, Pia, and Kristy, are AMAZING!!! They are so great with kids and making them comfortable. One of my daughters had pretty bad anxiety before a procedure and they really made her feel at ease. I’m so thankful for them. We used to go to Konikoff and I’m so glad we switched. Coastal really takes the time for each individual child and meeting his/her needs. Thank you!!!!

I absolutely LOVE this place! The atmosphere is great and the staff is fantastic!! Super bonus seeing so many woman of color as dental assistants! My son had some anxiety going into procedure, but between Mrs. K and Dr. Sachs, he was comforted very quickly and had a great appointment. The time Dr. Sachs took to to explain things alleviated my son’s fears! Glad we found this place!!! Definitely mute home dental home for my kiddos!

My son was told he needed two molar extractions. I knew in my heart it wasn't right. I consulted above and beyond and he received white crowns today from an amazing dentist (not even silver crowns typically forced for children in the state of virginia much less teeth being ripped out) from one of the top rated dentists in the country of 2021. I could have let this dentist rip out my sons teeth for nothing. I would not recommend at all. Do your research.

This place is amazing! I took my three children to Coastal because we had such a terrible experience at another dental office. The atmosphere here is astonishing. My kids were taken care of diligently, with a smile and friendly demeanor the entire time. My 3yr old was nervous but the staff had done a great job at keeping him calm enough to check his teeth. The best part about the visit was the communication. They took their time to break down technical dental terminology into layman's terms. The staff, dentists and anesthesiologist here are phenomenal!

When I tell you from the moment I walked into this dental office there was such tremendous love and the customer service from the ladies at the front desk was so amazing. My son is on the spectrum and is non verbal autistic and everyone at Coastal made me and my son feel so comfortable about his visit and made sure that they let me know everything… that was going to be done. Dr. Reynolds, Dr. Sachs, and Dr. Wong are simply amazing. They believe in wanting to make sure all your needs are met. I definitely recommend that you bring your child to this dentistry.

I cannot say enough good things about Coastal. Finding a dentist that was open for emergencies during this COVID-19 pandemic was hard. Coastal was there and worked with me, despite being out of network, to get my child the care needed. They took all precautions necessary to protect not only them but us as well. Everyone made sure to make us feel comfortable and at ease the whole time. Dr. Wong was excellent with my child and made them feel at ease. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I highly recommend this dental practice to anyone looking for the best experience from every single aspect possible. The office staff and Dr. Reynolds are absolutely amazing!!! I have two highly anxious children who can be quite a handful and the staff is patient and so very understanding, they work with each child and explain everything and give… the child time to adjust. They allow me to be with the kids during cleanings and articulate everything that is going on and explain in detail what my children's dental health currently is and any future issues that may need to be addressed. My son was referred here for dental surgery from a large local kids dental practice as he needed extractions/fillings and their waitlist was well over 9 months to schedule. Coastal was able to get us in immediately for the consultation and scheduled the surgery within a month. Our out of pocket cost was considerably less than what it would have been with the other practice and it ended up being even lower than originally quoted.
