Biofeedback is a holistic type of treatment researched and developed over 30 years ago that uses instruments to measure one's level of stress in treatment modalities such as Muscle Feedback (EMG; Temperature (Hand), Cognitive Feedback (EDR, and Blood Pressure. Other treatment modalities are used for some other areas of treatments not mentioned here.
The goal of treatment is to teach the client to reduce his/her level of stress, and learn how to cope to alleviate the harmful causes of stress without the use of instruments. Depression is a common illness often associated with a biological basis. It affects 10 to 14 million people in any given year.
