The doctors and staff at Dr. Pike Dentistry for Children look forward to seeing you soon! Our dentists and staff have dedicated their careers to taking care of children's teeth.
Services
My primary goal in working with children is to do whatever is necessary to have them grow up remembering that a trip to the dentist is a safe, comfortable experience. A good childhood impression of dentistry plays such an important role in adulthood; so many patients who had bad dental experiences as children put off needed dental work, leading to bigger problems and more complex solutions.
The most rewarding aspect of my work is to help children feel more comfortable at the dental office. It's tremendous fun to meet all the interesting people who bring their children to the office. When parents tell me their kids are excited to come to the office, then I know we've done our job well.
I am very passionate about pediatric dentistry and a big advocate for improving oral health for children. I enjoy the preventive aspect of pediatric dentistry with a big emphasizes on positive engaging experiences in the dental office. Ensuring the development of life-long trustworthy relationships with the dental providers that motivate patients to tirelessly care for their teeth and maintain healthy dentitions.
We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.
If you'd like to share some kind words and smiles, please ask our front desk staff for a comment card at your next appointment. We'd love to hear about your experience! II recently took my son to Dr. Pike on the recommendation of so many people I've forgotten who they are.

Dr. Pike's approach is wonderful - he comes from a place of making children feel at ease--so if this is your child's first dentist, this may be the start of a life without dental fear.My child is a bit reserved with new people, but the calm and positive attitude here makes it no problem to get his exam done.

Best place ever. Kids love it. Very friendly and they avoid filling as much as they can. They educate the kids how they can spoil their teeth. They reward the kids for good healthy hygiene. Highly recommend. It is hard to get in, I had to wait 3 months to get in, but once you are in, you will realize they are totally worth the wait.

Last night my daughters wire in her mouth came dislodged and was causing both discomfort and anxiety because it broke. There was no way for us to fix it. I called first thing Friday morning to find out they are closed on Fridays but there was an emergency line to call. I left a message with what was going on hoping to hear back and that our daughter would not have to wait 3+ days for it to get fixed. I got a text back within 10 mins that they would see us in the office about and hour and half later to get everything fixed. This was such a relief and Dr Pike was able to get everything fixed. Our

Dr. Pike and all his team are really amazing, I have been taking both my girls for the last two years and they love it. It is amazing to see the excitement on my kids faces when I tell them it's dentist time!

We went to Dr Pelley in Sellwood for a few years. When she told me my daughter had cavities I cried and she had horrible bedside manner. She insisted my 6 year old be put under anesthesia for cavities. I paid deposit but didn't feel totally onboard. I spoke with my friend who recommended Dr Pike. Dr Pike called me himself and explained their approach about empowering their patients. I thought it might be too good to be true but he was able to treat all my daughters cavities without anesthesia. I'm so impressed. I'll never go anywhere else.

Dr. Pike saved my son and daughter's teeth! They were absolutely amazing. We were so blessed to have found them while we lived in Portland. Our family will be forever thankful and grateful for the care we received and the grace and support they poured out to our family. I cannot recommend them enough. Dr. Pike's care was exceptional. Thank you Dr. Pike for everything!

I looked, and can't believe I haven't left a review until now...because I've recommended Dr Pike's office to roughly 1,000 other people (basically, anyone who asks or even looks like they could benefit from an amazing pediatric dentist haha)! We had a terrible, terrible experience at our former dentist, and w/I the very first visit to this office...our child went from screaming and terrified, to empowered and counting the days b/w visits. The staff have been so very patient with our child (and myself)...words can't express our gratitude and feelings of good fortune to have found Dr. Pike Dentistry

I finally made the effort to switch to a new dentist when Dr. Pike told me that they won't refer kids out for orthodontia until they are 12 or 13, and boy am I glad I did! My son is almost 10, and still has teeth that should have come through when he was 8. At the new practice (Hi5 Dental), we were immediately referred for an ortho consult and learned that his mouth doesn't have enough space for the adult teeth to come in, and he needs extractions and an expander. Apparently the adult teeth that were stuck without space to come into his mouth would have soon started eroding the root

I love taking my children to Dr. Pike, because everyone there is so kind. Normally, most children would be quite afraid of the dentist. But, when we got in the car my daughter shouted, "I want to go back!" and she was so sad we were leaving. She loved the prize box and the hamsters.

Amazing place, they are changing the way kids think of the dentist. The dentist is no longer a scary experience for kids like it was when I was a child. The whole staff is super friendly and really know what they are doing. Top quality care! my 4yr old is shy but warmed right up to Dr. Pike and staff. Great experience definitely our new and only dentist for our kids.

We had a wonderful experience here when we took our 19month old son for his first ever dental check up.Dr Steven Pike was great so was his other staff members especially Liz,must say she is an asset to the clinic. The atmosphere of the clinic was so awesome that my son did not want to come back post his check up ☺ Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we strongly recommend this place for their unique approach of treating toddlers.

Dr Alan Pike without a doubt is a true professional and a kind human being! My 9 year old son was recommended braces by another dentist. It was going to be a $3,000 just to start, with multi-year, multi-tiered type of treatment (we are talking head brace, extractions, etc). Something didn't feel right to us, so we decided to use my sister's referral to Dr Pike for a second opinion. Upon arriving at his office, we were seen within a few minutes. It only took Dr Pike about five minutes to conclude that the braces are not needed until our son turns twelve, and the only procedure he needs

We went to see Dr. Pike to get a second opinion. My 2 year old's teeth weren't looking the best and a previous dentist blamed my breastfeeding and lack of care to her teeth. He recommended her being under general anesthesia for 2 hours to fix her teeth. I was absolutely floored to receive this information because we DO brush 2 times a day and floss nightly. The previous dentist made me feel terrible and my mom guilt was through the roof.

Enter Dr. Pike. We walked into his office and the receptionist was very friendly checking us in. They were busy so the wait time was a little

We loved Dr. Pike! Just took my youngest in as we'd had trouble at our old pediatric dentist. We'd been charged a behavior fee as he wouldn't open his mouth. I love that Dr. Pike doesn't believe in distractions but rather in empowerment of his patients. My son let them do a full cleaning and even wanted to encourage another nervous new patient. "He would go here every day if he could" is what he told me on the way out.

Wow!! Dr.Pike is a very caring and compassionate Doctor. Our experience today was more than exceptional it was everything I could have hoped a dentist visit for my autistic son could be. First the waiting area was perfect for children, it has a small climbing area and wall mounted toys with vivid but unobtrusive lights. Also very clean and well kept. Everyone that was working, all the staff from the front desk to our checkout time was caring and just really in tune with the children. I actually felt like the staff and especially the doctors cared about kids! The love here is REAL not just the

Dr. Pike is the most caring, gentle, and thorough dentist we have met. My son has many health conditions which affect his dental needs, however Dr. Pike was able to provide excellent care for my son. We also love his dental hygienist. She was so patient and gentle with my son.

This is the best pediatric dental practice in the greater Portland area. Their style of practice is kind, thoughtful, learned, and extraordinarily patient. They take the concept of "painless dentistry" to the highest level. My children love going to see them and that should say it all.

I love Dr. Pike. Today was our first visit and he gave me and my toddler everything we both needed. And while he was speaking with me, his amazing staff was playing with my daughter and making it SO fun for her. My 2 yr old ended up being born with a weak tooth. I was so nervous expecting a drilling, gassing, filling session. But he found an alternative to that, which brought tears to my eyes in relief. He was in complete support of my efforts in remineralization. He was extremely thorough in educating me on home care, diet, etc. I could go on and on. Basically, he made me feel like I've

What more needs to be said besides that my newly 2 year old twins actually tried to go back into the exam/work area of Dr. Pike Dentistry after their appointment was done, both shouting "more please".
The staff is warm, patient, engaging and they all have a soft, gentle touch.
I recommend this office 110%!

If 6 stars was an option, I would gladly give this place 6 stars. Dr. Pike is the dentist that we all wish we had as kids. He is kind, gentle, and kids trust him quickly. He explains things well, and works with you to create a plan that suits your child's circumstances. We make quite a trek to see him, but it is totally worth it.

As the other reviewers have said, the whole staff are great. They all have a great way with kids, which is fantastic. My daughter now goes to Dr. Pike for her orthodontia too, which is convenient--sometimes we can get her braces checked at her regular dental cleaning appointments--love that!

My only complaint is that the place is SMALL. Lots of tables crammed into a small space and it kinda drives me crazy. No walls, no privacy either. I don't personally mind that but keep it in mind if you're sensitive to having privacy.

I would LOVE if they moved to a larger office--it's really

My son has had some traumatic dental experiences in his young life, which left him afraid of dentists for many years. Some friends recommended Dr. Pike after a horrible experience with World of Smiles, when we needed to have some work done (we are relatively new to the area, so our traumatic experiences were elsewhere).

My son and I are both really happy with our experience there. They are mercury-free and try to use as safe of materials as are possible in dentistry. The staff there, which DOES include the actual dentists, work really hard to try and connect with the kids and make them feel as
