Our practice's focus is on the medicine and surgery of dogs, cats, and small exotics such as rabbits, ferrets, rodents, and birds. Animal Medical Center prides itself on being one of the most progressive veterinary hospitals in Lubbock. Doctors and technicians work together to provide the best care possible for your companion while creating a comfortable, family atmosphere.
Services
Animal Medical Center was formed when Dr. Larry Farley and Dr. Dan Leach merged their practices in 1982. In 1988, Dr. Lane Preston joined them in ownership of the practice. The hospital was expanded in 1991 to nearly double the building size as Animal Medical Center continued to enjoy much success.
AMC has been our vet for the last 28 years with personal fur babies and now going on 12 years with our Morris Mutts. We could not be here and actively savings dogs without your help and expertise. They have the best vets and a wonderful staff and I couldn't be happier with the quality of service and how well they take care of my dog when I take him there!
As the top notch team of veterinarians in Lubbock and in West Texas, we're committed to not only the health of your pet but also the life you share. Every pet receives the best care we can possibly give, from routine vaccinations to emergency surgery. We care for your pets as if they were our own. Dr. Polk is a graduate of Monterey High School, Texas Tech University and a 2001 graduate of Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Our team plays such an important role in your experience at Animal Medical Center of Lubbock. They know that every client is unique and we want you to feel that your needs are important to us. We've got a great staff who does that. They'll treat your pets like their own (and we have a ton of our own pets that we love dearly).
One thing you'll see when you visit Animal Medical Center of Lubbock is that we have lots of furry friends hanging around. Some are here permanently as part of our staff and some are just here before they find a forever home. He has undergone extensive testing to ensure his safety and each recipient's safety.

I have waited 3 months before posting this review in hopes that the anger and sadness and the rest of the feelings would have lessened a little.
On August 30 I brought my cat to Animal Medical Center to be euthanized which is always a hard thing to do. I was told there was a private room with a couch and I could hold my cat while this was being done. Well, this didn't happen. He ended up on a cold metal table for the whole process. The staff was nice. The catheter was inserted and I thought it would only be a couple of minutes till the rest of the injection. We waited for 10-15 minutes

I had to drive 2 hours just to get my baby Maverick seen at an emergency vet because there are no emergency vets in Clovis, NM. Maverick was having the worst diarrhea for days and I was just hoping he could make it 2 hours without having an accident in the car. Luckily we made it and I was helped as soon as I got here. He was being looked at within a few minutes and well taken care of. It only took about 30 minutes for the whole appointment and I left with everything I needed to get him better. I appreciate the staff for taking such good care of my baby in a quick and timely manner. They rock!

We are from out of town, and our pup became very sick. We chose this place based on their almost 5 star rating. We got there right at 8am as soon as they opened and there was already a lot going on, phones ringing, and we were greeted immediately. They showed compassion as soon as they saw how sick my pup looked. We were back in a room within 5 minutes. The vet tech came in our room within 10 minutes, and was reassuring. The vet tech clearly explained why they needed a blood draw but that no tests would be run without the vet seeing it necessary. The vet then came in and explained the other two

We are from South Carolina, and are both here in Lubbock finishing up school. We looked for the best vet in town when we first got our corgi puppy last year, and we couldn’t have made a better decision. Our poor pup had to have hernia surgery and they did an excellent job and we have had no further problems. They always answer all of our questions and they take their time during our visits. We have also used their pet hotel in the new facility, and we seriously have NO complaints. Dr. Tim Polk is amazing and so are all of the other staff we have met so far. Prices are very reasonable, and they

Took my dog in for surgery this morning. No one came to get her as it is curbside. Was the first car there. They came out and got all of the animals of people that came after me. Had to call them twice . They had my dog mixed up with another dog. Did not fell comfortable with leaving her there for her surgery because they were so unorganized. We have been going to this clinic for 33 years and was just there 2 days earlier. They had her down as a new client. We thought Dr. Polk was doing the surgery and found out he wasn't there it would be a different doctor. Ended up rescheduling because

The people here seem to genuinely care about helping animals. They've helped me over the phone when my dogs have eaten weird things, performed surgery on one of my dogs, and have helped with multiple smaller issues. The prices are reasonable and transparent and everyone has always been very friendly. I don't have any complaints about this place and recommend it to anyone with animals in Lubbock!

A previous clinic seemed more focused on telling me I should put down my newly adopted sr dog rather than try to find out what was wrong with him. I wanted a second opinion. The attitude here was totally different. There seemed to be a genuine interest in helping my dog live his best life, however much or little he has left. I will follow thru with their treatment plan and update.

DO NOT see Dr. Polk. He is extremely rude and condescending. Does a fast job then uncharges on everything. Very disappointed because I have enjoyed everyone else here but he is truly a doctor to stay away from.

This is written for those of you who consider your pets to be a part of your family.
For almost a year my "baby" Yorkie was misdiagnosed as having "severe allergies". She was covered, head to toe in a HORRIBLE rash. Her skin itched so bad that she was scratching/chewing herself raw. Many times we were told, that maybe we should send off a biopsy, but "let's try this first". We were giving her very high doses of prednisone, antibiotics, & using many shampoos, bathing her every day. After finally getting the runaround from the ones we trusted, we decided

Summer 2013 I took my poodle to Animal Medical Center for a physical. I told Dr. Polk, that my poodle's eyes were matting due to a yellow and green discharge that had a pungent odor. I also told the vet that the left eye appeared to be worse than the right. Dr. Polk explained that the discharge and matting were caused by allergies, NOT by an infection.

I took my poodle in a second time and she was treated by Dr. Preston. Dr. Preston said that her matted eyes and the pungent green and yellow discharge were being caused by allergies. I told him, I thought it smelled infected, and he told me

I've only had wonderful experiences at this office. Although it's a larger practice it is organized, clean and efficient. I've seen two different veterinarians and they were both incredibly kind, concise and forthright. Dr. Propp removed a tumor from my dog's leg and was very reassuring, and reachable, during his recovery process. He clearly loves his job and takes the time to fully explain the circumstances and mechanics of certain illnesses.

Really, if you live in Lubbock, I do not see any reason to try another office. These people are superb.

I have had nothing but good experiences with this clinic. Over the course of the nine years I've lived in West Texas, I've had 6 animals, and a bunch of strays that we fostered until they could get homes. The clinic always given us honest and good care. I took my elderly dying cat to another vet, when we moved to a nearby town, and she kept him overnight without telling me what was wrong. He died alone in the night, even though I had asked her to call me if he was doing poorly. After that debacle, when my elderly dog was dying, I refused to bring him to that vet, and brought him back

My husband and I have been using AMC for over 5 years now. My husbands entire family has used them for even longer. That's 14 dogs, 10 cats currently and several others over the years. In all of that time and with all of those fur babies we have grown to love AMC.
You can find faults with any place if you look hard enough; the walk in wait on a weekend is long and the walls are thinish (of course if you're going to a Vet you should expect to hear barking and other animal noises.) But if you're like us and want a Vet that genuinely cares for your pets then you've found it. I

The vets and office staff here are the best! Though I had my doubts about them 2 years ago. At that time, I was horrified when I brought my old cat in for a teeth cleaning and they pulled ELEVEN of his teeth in one visit!!! I was sure that the stress of losing so many teeth was going to kill my nearly 15 year old cat!

Flash forward 2 years. The cat quickly recovered and is eating more than ever, despite losing so many teeth. Dr. Heatwole & Dr. Cloud have treated this cat and our other pets and done an excellent job. My opinion of Animal Medical Center has drastically changed for the better
