The restaurant may not look like more than a hole in the way, but it has some of the best Italian food in the city. I'd recommend reservations, but take the seats at the bar if they don't have a table. The staff was friendly and entertaining, and you basically have a chef's table view of the kitchen.
From the appetizers, which aren't need - you won't do hungry, to the dessert, the portions were large and flavorful.
I had the Penne Vodka, but go for the specials, you won't be disappointed.

We ordered takeout from Legends on NYE. We live on the northside and have passed this place millions of times, but we never tried it. My only regret of this meal is that I wish I would have tried Legends sooner. I am not an Italian food expert, but everything was so flavorful and fresh. We ordered the greens and beans and mozzarella triangles for starters. The cheese pull on the mozzarella triangles was perfection! I had the Spinach Ravioli for my main course and my husband had the alfredo with blackened chicken. We were both extremely happy with our meal. We will definitely be back!

Hidden gem! Everything was amazing! We we just looking for something to eat while waiting at the hospital. Had the chicken parm, and it was the best I've ever had. Homemade pasta was really good ! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Service was awesome also. BYOB, so don't forget to bring a bottle of wine.

My husband and me have been going to this little hidden away jewel for many years. We have introduced many people to this fabulous restaurant. Everyone has always loved it. It's a small restaurant so reservations are a good idea on weekends. Everyone is homemade, down to the pieces of delicious homemade fudge that they give you at the end. The portions are very big. Must always take home a doggie bad, not for the dog but for us the next day. Their bread dipping sauce is out of this world. And you must always take home a piece of one of their homemade desserts. Mine is the apple pie. And what's

Speaking as an Italian, this was disappointing. The chicken romano was pretty much tasteless. The sauce was flavorful but the chicken itself was not seasoned at all. My spouse had the chicken parmesan and his was the same. His pasta was clumped in the center of the plate with the sauce poured over top. I think perhaps they think too much of themselves that they can throw that on a plate and charge what they charge and get away with it. Or they get a lot of people there that know nothing about italian food.

Love this restaurant!!! My boyfriend and I had been meaning to try it out and wow are we happy we did. Cute table setup, AMAZING BREAD, extremely friendly staff, great conversation with those in the restaurant and the workers, rich history, and the food was some of the best Italian I've had. I had the Gnocchi Bolognese with a salad and my boyfriend had the Chicken Parm with their wedding soup. If you're looking for some good food and great conversation this is the restaurant for you!

My FAVE Restaurant in Pittsburgh! And it’s a BYOB. The food is fabulous each time whether I’m ordering my faves, Veal Parmigiana or Spots or trying 1 of ChefDan’s specials! And Dessert.... an absolute must! And there’s homemade fudge to finish it off.
Every time we introduce friends to Legends, they love it too and can’t wait to come back!
Chef Dan and his staff are #1 in Customer Service & friendliness. We love the intimacy and always feel like we’re with great friends because the staff is so friendly.
Try it, you’ll love it!

First time trying Legends yesterday! We ordered takeout. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was SO friendly and helpful. My husband had a nut allergy and I eat gluten free so we are somewhat "problem children" when it comes to ordering. I really enjoy how accommodating they were to provide gluten free options, and I'm in love with the fact that their coconut pie is gluten free- what a rare thing to find!! Everything was delicious. We had the greens and beans, and I opted for the fettuccine Alfredo and my husband got the sausage hoagie. We will definitely be back!!

This is a great spot on the North side, edge of Deutcshtown, next to Allegheny hospital. Unfortunately due to Covid spacing restrictions we weren't able to get a table this past weekend. This is a cozy place with not a lot of tables. We did eat here last fall..and everything was delicious from the appetizers to the mouthwatering desserts. Plus they encourage BYOB, which is great because they don't even charge a corking fee. We will have to try to get here again on our next trip to Pitt.

I went to celebrate my 8th year anniversary, I have never been but its a cute, little corner Italian restaurant. We had our reservation at 8pm, showed up, checked temperature and seated within 5 minutes.
Everyone was socially distanced and we received our water and placed our order. Menu was simple and to the point, waitress told us the items that weren't available, service was ON POINT.

We've eaten at Legends several times and are NEVER disappointed. They always have top-notch service and amazing food. I always get the spinach ravioli- my favorite! They have to-die for desserts that are very generous servings. This North Side staple is a true GEM! Be sure to check it out! Very consistent food that's truly delicious.

Pretty decent staple Italian.
Got takeout one rainy night. Could tell the noodles and sauce were fresh. Flavor was good and wish I had eaten in.
My only complaints were the portion sizes. Smaller than I would have expected from an Italian place. Also have to say the Caesar salad I paid extra for was wilted and just a house salad with Caesar dressing.
Would try again but would want to eat there. I hear the atmosphere is really nice.

I ordered the Pasta Special on Saturday Night with friends. Since it was my first time at Legends, our server also recommended the Greens and Beans.
We were all too full from dinner for dessert, but the fudge was an excellent finish to our meal.
My husband and I can't wait to go back when we're in town again.

Came in early on a Friday and was still able to get a table for two without a reservation. Glad we got there kind of early as it got much busier as the night wore on.
Because of our late lunches, we decided to share an appetizer and entree. The entree came with soup or salad and patrons also get complimentary bread and olive oil. All that to say, we still wound up with plenty of food.
We ordered the bruschetta appetizer and chicken parmigiana with Italian wedding soup. Food was flavorful and fresh, portions were generous and the waitstaff were attentive and quick to refill glasses and provide

Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, great homemade food, small but cozy atmosphere.
I got the spinach and cheese ravioli and they were fantastic!
The bruschetta was just ok. I had much better elsewhere.
I liked that they put olives on the side salads. Yum! The salad was a little small lol. Very petite if you will.
I appreciate places with homemade food so I will be back!

I took my parents here who don't get to Pittsburgh often so after hearing rave reviews from co-workers, I thought it was the perfect spot to show them how great of a food town Pittsburgh really is.
I was really impressed with Legends! They have some solid Italian food and it was the perfect place to take out-of-towners. My dad and I got the Chicken Parmigiana, my mom the Veal Parmigiana, and my boyfriend the penne vodka. We were all very impressed with the pasta itself - I'm thinking it was freshly made rather than dried. The chicken itself had a lovely breading and I loved how they

Omg! Where to begin??? Suchhhhh amazing food and service. This is the BEST Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh. I had the day's pasta special which was blackened chicken with penne pasta and blush sauce (Alfredo and marinara sauce). They brought out warm focaccia bread and it was amazing. Then I had soup. Then my entree came and I inhaled it all. Perfectly seasoned! I ordered the pecan cake for dessert which was delicious. Then to top it off, my waitress offered me homemade fudge on the house.
Make a reservation on the weekend because they fill up quickly.

Yum! Very good food - just like nonna would make! I can speak Italian after eating here. (Haha) I suggest getting the fettuccini Alfredo - it was REALLY good! The penne vodka was very good but not over the top special. The spaghetti and meatballs was the traditional plate, very good & fresh! The chicken parm was really good as well. The waitress even brought complementary homemade fudge for us to try
