3D Printing Chicago is a small business owned by David Siegfried, a self-employed entrepreneur and member of the Chicago maker community. David has been in computer graphic arts since 1989, runs an eBay store specializing in video and photography gear, and is an avid home brewer, photographer, and musician-a maker of lots of fun and exciting projects.
PLA or Polylactic Acid is an eco-friendly biodegradable hard plastic made from renewable resources such as corn starch and sugar. PLA is a wonderful material for 3D printing as it melts at a relatively low temperature and demonstrates much less part warping than other materials such as ABS. If actively cooled, much sharper details can be seen on printed corners without the risk of cracking.
This set of 4 LED covers upgrades your existing lighting to give you the G30 or 5 series look in your 3 series (F30/31), creating a sharp line effect on your door cards for cool accent lighting. Does not include lights. This is for cars that already have the factory ambient lighting package. You will know if you have the lighting package if you have a row of soft lights in your doors.
3D Printing encompasses a number of additive manufacturing technologies including FDM (Fuse Deposit Modeling), 3DP (Powder-Based Printing), SLS (Selective Laser Sintering), and SLA/DLP (Stereolithography). Although there are many types of 3d printers and multiple methods of additive manufacturing, each process starts with a digital file.

Fast response if you email through the website, my print was done in like 2 days, I really like how it turned out! I needed a quick prototype before production for my business. Great experience. David was very responsive. Next day turn around, as promised. As noted in another post, he does work from his home storefront. I'm not sure why that's surprising to the other reviewer....it's one of the easiest ways of keeping overhead low, and thus, prices, below his competitors, which I appreciate.
One of my pieces had some minor defects, that David offered to re-print, but that I wasn't convinced would cause me problems, so I told him I'd reach back out, if I couldn't get them to work.
All-in-all, a very good experience. I'd work with him again.

Here you can bring and print a ready-made model, downloaded in advance from the Internet, or hire a designer and completely create a product from scratch. For now, I just decided to try and find out what 3D printing is all about. I downloaded off-the-shelf options from the internet and had a phone stand, a brawl stars badge and a puzzle printed out for me.

Found 3D print Chicago through Yelp here! I'm a hobbyist and needed a little help and came to the right spot. David was very kind and would respond to any questions I had. He actually found a better file version of the print and made sure I knew every detail.
His pricing was more than fair! Because I live around Chicago I coordinated a local pickup and David made it simple.
I always wanted to get into 3D printing but didn't want to pay the up front expense, deal with user errors, etc. 3D print Chicago eliminates all my concerns and I can enjoy the wonderful creative world of printing

This is what I get as Chicago startup who wants to support local Chicago businesses.
A day after my parts are supposed to be completed (5th business day), I get an email saying the parts are not designed correctly and cannot be printed. A refund is issued. The exact same parts and material have been printed before using another company. I ended up using them again for this new order.
It's fine if you can't print them because of limitations, but don't wait till after you're supposed to have them ready to let me know that. It just messes up my project schedule. Prompt communication would have been

I had a last minute print needed I wanted for work (prototype for a physical part) and my personal 3D printer was having issues. I reached out via the website inquiry form on a Sunday and was able to connect with David who replied to my inquiry a couple hours later (did I mention it was SUNDAY!). We quickly settled on the details. The price was very reasonable (and I've worked as a 3D printing service myself a few years back). Parts were available for pickup first thing in the morning as promised and the quality was very good (FDM with PLA, smooth surface, no stringing or blobs). I checked

Had a fabulous experience using David's 3D Printing service. He re-created a broken, obsolete cabinet bracket even better and stronger than the original. The ability to make this unusual part saved me a ton of agony and money. The process was smooth and easy. David was helpful, responsive and very pleasant to work with and my finished product was absolutely perfect. Was super happy with his price, too. Highly recommend 3D Printing Chicago.

Had extra time to do the job though it definitely seemed rushed. Some parts were a blatant disaster (chunks of melted plastic where hinges should have been, pieces left in completely that obstructed the design, etc). Store front is apparently mother's house (she also answered the door as if it weren't even a business at all). All and all when all is said and done, I would've appreciated honesty that this WAS NOT acceptable or usable (Was it the design? The material used? Just neglegence?) . Will gladly pay 50%+ at a legitimate store front next time.
