Below is a brief overview of our attorneys. Christopher Eggert has been in practice since 1996 and is the principal attorney of Eggert & Associates.
I have been in practice since 1996, serving my clients in many varied areas of law. My primary practice areas are: Family Law (Divorce, Child Custody and Support); Criminal Defense; and Consumer Bankruptcy. We've grown to two attorneys and two staff members in our beautiful Keizer, Oregon office. I fully support clients learning about their rights, duties, and options, and how the courts and the laws apply to their situations.
The practice area known as "Family Law" is much more than divorce. While divorce is its best-known component, it also includes paternity determinations and custody for unmarried parents, pre-nuptial agreements for those getting married, and step-parent adoptions for new families. Later on, the initial court orders often need to be changed, and so modifications of parenting time, child support, and spousal support are addressed.
You may be wondering if choosing bankruptcy is the right choice. For individuals, there are two types of bankruptcy to file. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy discharges your debts whereas a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy offers a repayment plan to help you pay off your debts before discharge. I have been in a parental/custody dispute with my son's Dad. Things started to escalate quite a bit and I called around to several attorneys. I found Chris and instantly felt like I had someone who would be competent, caring and timely. That's exactly what happened. I've had attorneys before, for various reasons. I've experienced poor communication, drawn out cases, and arrogant attitudes. Not Chris. He stayed on top of everything and was all about a quick resolution, whereas the other parties' attorneys just wanted billable hours. I met with Mr. Eggert regarding some custody issues. While he was unable to assist me with my specific matter, as I was seeking some document review and isolated legal advice, in the 30 minute consult I participated in with him, it was clear by the way he interacted with me that he approaches all of his clients with understanding and respect, is straight forward, smart, experienced and well spoken.
