Dr. Carlos Cruz-Chu is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist. He has always enjoyed working with children and in his last two years of high school, he volunteered at the pediatric hospital (hospital del nio) in Lima-Peru every weekend. He graduated as a dentist at the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia and after graduation, became a teaching assistant in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
A crown, or cap, is placed on a baby tooth or adult tooth when the carious lesion is too big for a filling. Crowns protect teeth that are weakened by dental caries, trauma, or root canal treatment. We use of white crowns for the anterior teeth and stainless-steel crowns for the posterior teeth for added strength but may consider the use of white crowns on posterior teeth by request.
Each tooth has a pulp inside that contains important nerves. In case the pulp is affected, due to caries, trauma or other reasons, the pulp therapy is a necessary procedure to save the tooth. The most common form of pulp therapy in your child's teeth is the pulpotomy therapy. Pulpotomy removes the infected part of the pulp, and then a sedative medication is applied to protect the remaining healthy pulp tissue.
Oral check-ups are important in maintaining and enhancing the oral health of your child. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends an oral evaluation to your child at least two times a year. Our doctor will regularly check extra-orally the face and neck, and intra-orally your child's teeth, bite and soft tissues for signs of decay, bite alteration, damage or pathology.
Dental x-rays help to see areas that are not visible during the clinical examination so we can have more information about your child's oral condition and provide a better care in relationship to those areas. The decision of how often we should take x-rays depends on your child's risk of having dental caries and in other specific cases that will be explained by our pediatric dental specialist at the appropriate time.

We love them. They're wonderful with kids. They have a cute little baby room with colorful star lights that my boy loved. He didn't cry at all, and they're patient. My little boy has autism, and is terrified whenever we go because he has no idea what's going on, but they're good to him and kind and patient.

We found Baby2Teens after our previous ped dentist left our insurance network. My 3.5 year old had her first “for real” big girl cleaning. The hygienist, ms. K, was amazing. She went slow and explained everything to my daughter. She had my daughter laughing at “Mr. pig” (polishing tool) & “Mr. thirsty” (suction) and had my daughter talking the whole ride home about how silly they were :) Dr. Cruz was also gentle and patient, explaining everything. Great experience and we are so glad we found them. Highly recommend!

We took our son for his first dentist visit. It was one of the few places that accepted our insurance and was just pediatrics. I was impressed with them! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the facility is very clean, and they gifted us with a magnetic framed picture of our family before we left. I would highly suggest them to all my local mom friends!

I took my son here for the first time the other day for a cleaning and back again two days later for a crown they had to put on. I was nervous, but may I just say this place is absolutely AMAZING! The front desk are so sweet and kind and amazing with kids, the Dr. and the dental hygienist Krista are above and beyond amazing!! My son was smiling the entire time for his cleaning AND for his crown. They are so good with kids and they really know how to keep them calm and distract them with what’s going on. I HIGHLY recommend taking your kids here, they really care for you and your family. The office

This was my daughters first dental appointment. She was super nervous prior to going in. I had no idea what to expect. Baby2Teens went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and felt safe! They allowed me to go back with her and they explained everything they were doing for her to understand. Dr. Cruz was very informing especially about recent studies regarding various topics. Such a fantastic experience for my two children (7&4). The entire staff is so welcoming and kind. The office is immaculate and designed specifically for kids. Their use of technology was impressive. Not only that, if you don’t have dental insurance they offer generous plans for extremely reasonable rates. Definitely would recommend you make this your children’s new dentist!

Dr. Cruz was fantastic. He immediately came out to introduce himself to me and my son and took us into a room. Dr. Cruz took the time to listen and answer all my questions before getting started and made my son’s first dental appointment go extremely well for a 17 month old. Savannah cleaned my son’s teeth and put me at ease. I’m very happy to have chosen this office and feel I’m in good hands when I’m there.
